The Party (DVD 2004)

This is a very funny film. A word of mouth classic. Sellers is charmingly inoffensive playing a bumbling Indian wannabe actor that gets mistakenly invited to a big film studio bosses social gathering. Watch as he aimlessly wanders around the atypical sixties Party making social blunder after social blunder. This is the way that Mr Bean should of been and Mr Akinson can only but try to imitate Sellers pastiche. Okay so the film loses the plot a bit toward the end and it is pretty much all fluff from the point the elephant arrives at The Party (really) onwards, but the first forty odd minutes is brilliant laugh out loud comedy. Definately one to watch.

I saw this movie when it was first in the cinema,And it was only when it was mentioned recently that I remembered it,and just had to buy a copy.I think it shows Peter sellers at his best,and perhaps gave him some ideas for the chaos Inspector Cleuseau? later caused in the Pink Panther series of movies.If you like those movies,then you'll love this one...Fantastic!

This is one of the funniest movies I have ever watched. It is hilarious from start to finish. Peter Sellers is a master of accents, not to mention his skills at acting the character of an absolute blunderer. I would recommend this movie for all the family.

A classic movie. Made with a tiny script but with a lot of love. Peter Sellers is excellent and the direction of Blake Edwards is top of the bill. The movie is hilarious, outrageous and a real classic. The two disc edition has some very interesting extra's like adocumentary about the making of the movie. It has some very revealing and honost comments of several contributors. The animated menus are very nice. There are some Barclays TV commercials of Peter Sellers as well, but they are available in the 2 disc Pink Panther DVD release as well. They are nice though.

This is one of Peter Sller's best and no doubt a Classic that anyone should have in one's DVD collection to watch time and time again.
I must have watched it 10 times over the years and up till the 6th time I kept on discovering gags I had previously missed.
Wish most movies would be so innocent and fresh instead of the violence and sex that is so common.
This is a movie to be shared and initiate more and more people in The Party's Fan Club. Your friends will thank you for recomending it.
We miss Peter Sellers.

we bought film of this person as we seen it on sky tv and it was dead funny . its a great film with funny laughs in .

cannot really say much about this item, it is a christmas present for my dad, all i can say is that he cannot talk about this film without laughing.
he is 84 and good to see a smile on his face

I bought this DVD to replace an old VHS I used to have. This is the FUNNIEST film I have ever seen and makes me laugh out loud whenever I watch it.
I have shown it to several of my friends and relatives and they all loved it.
You will not be disappointed - everytime you say "Birdy Num Num" you have a little chuckle to yourself!!

Well again a film i remembered watching years ago, The Party what a party it was i still giggled and chuckled ALL the way through it, from the minute he lost his shoe.( NOW YOU NEED TO WATCH TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS ) Needless to say i don't think everyone thinks the same, some people think its just too stupid to laugh at. But its not many films that are just so entertaining in a innocent way i think great fun for all the family. Definately Peter Sellars at his best.
