Paolo Nutini - These Streets (CD 2006)

When i first heard Paulo Nutini it was his single 'Jenny don't be hastey'. I thought oh, it will be a good album but all the songs will feel like supporting songs. How wrong could i have been. This album does not sound like a debut album at all. In fact it sounds far from a debut one. This is becaues the albums is filled with catchy songs that you can't help but sing along to! You listen along and realise that this is an album of meanful singing but not very fast songs. Later, you come across the fantastic song 'New shoes' and realise that Paulo Nutini doesn't just sing for Mums and can actually sing faster than his normal speed! All of the songs are very different, some ofmy favourites are 'New shoes', 'these streets', 'Jenny don't be hastey' and 'Last request'. These are only some of the songs and no, i am not avoiding any i just decided to mension these ones. All of the songs on here makes you want to listen to them more than once. All of the songs are foot tappers but only 'New shoes' will wake you up in the morning as the songs are gentle and quite slow. Pauli Nutini is a good version of James Blunt. Don't be put off by me saying that though! 9/10

It is hard to believe a 19 year old lad could have such a mature voice and he can sing really well, goodness knows why he has to sing in broad Glaswegian when he is live, it doesn't suit his soul voice.

This 2006 studio album features the hits 'Last request' when he knows the inevitable, him and his lover have finished and he just wants a final hug to say goodbye, 'New Shoes' is just a fun song about jigging about in his new shoes , it basically means the world looks better when you have your friends in and treat yourself to fab shoes, to make you happy too,lol, and 'Rewind' he is thinking back to his first love at aged 16, and wishes it was still the same as it is over now, and has some ballads and hidden tracks at the end. 'Jenny Don't be Hasty' asks why an older woman won't date him. In 'Autumn' he seems to describe losing his dad, his days have been depressing until his baby boy looks at him and he realises his father lives on in a new soul. That is my interpretation of this album, but I love it so much.

Only really bought it for "New Shoes" but decided to get the album rather than the single out of curiosity and am not disappointed. Relaxing, good mix of tunes & a great voice. Smooth.

Great album , well worth buying and putting in your cd collection . This is one of the all time great cds that you must own . i decided to buy this cd as a friend of mine owns this and plays it in his car all the time and i thought that i must have this cd to play in my car . Its a great bit of sing along music that everyone can enjoy .

This cd is excellant I decided to buy it because of the 4 songs that have already been released. He is a brilliant songwriter and derserves credit for this album. On Friday afternoon's at work my colleague plays cd's and I am sat typing away and Paolo Nutini's album comes on and I instantly recognised the songs from the radio and I though I must invest in this album. The songs are brilliant and very catchy. 10 out of 10.

This album is very easy to listen to. I like the fact that you can hear the Scottish accent coming through. Paolo is sure to go on to bigger and better things.

Love Paolo's voice, very sexy, can't believe he's so young!!. Cd is very easy listening and soothing great to listen to when you've had a hard day at work, very relaxing.

Heard one or two tracks on the radio before i listened to the full album on a car journey with my brother and then had to buy it! Great stuff!

This is an excellent CD. Paulo Nutini is an extremely talented artist , great musician and a tremendous performer.For such a young man he oozes talent, pzazz and charisma. A born performer!

I LOVE this album!! its really really good. I would recommend it to anyone. He has such a lovely voice i could listen to that voice for hours on end :)

I bought this album (for the second time) as the first copy was stolen along with my car!
Its an album my children and I now know back to front and every song on the album is just great. I was on ebay looking to see if there have been any new albums released.
Nothing to report on the 'dislike' front - a definate yes for the CD collection.

First time I saw this young chap was from Glastonbury....He was singing 'Rewind'
So I checked out the internet found some of his other work.
Got These streets on a 'buy it now'.......havent looked back since!

A superb debut album from a very talented young singer songwriter that will take him straight to the top of the album charts, where he belongs. This guy has the true potential to go far & will hopefully be performing his truly original compositions for many years to come. It would'nt surprise me if he does'nt win several music awards for this one. A very welcome addition to my 5000+ strong album collection & highly recommended for all lovers of great original songs.

Paolo Nutini does it again. A great collection of some of the most emotive songs ever. He has a way of drawing you into the soulful sounds and totally letting you go with the flow. Absolute magic. Only just discovering his music, I will buy it time and time again!! A+++++

Enjoying it very much, it's a bit simon and garfunkl, think i like it more than the new sunnyside up which has a new orleans jazz feel, but hopefully that will change.going to see Paolo twice in the coming weeks with friends so had homework to do.

The cd is in very good condition, and was posted to me very quickly. I recieved the item just a couple of days after paying.

19-year old Scottish singer/songwriter Paolo Nutini sounds older than his years on his debut album, These Streets. It's not just his careworn, smooth-as-sandpaper voice, either (although, admittedly, it does help). It's more to do with the maturity of the lyrics, and the casual soulfulness of his delivery. "Last Request" is more the work of a vintage Motown singer than a teenager from Paisley, and it's to Nutini's credit that he carries it off with aplomb. And rather like the soul singers of previous generations, he manages to sing without a hint of hypocrisy about his own sexual exploits ("Jenny Don't Be Hasty") while also questioning his girlfriend's fidelity ("Alloway Grove"). It's the fact that he's so frank, and even a little bit naive, that he manages to get away with it. And though the stripped-down tunes on These Streets don't always immediately grab the listener (the title track, in particular), the songs where Nutini is accompanied by a full band often manage to evoke sunny-day American soul ("New Shoes", for example). This is a strong debut, and considering Paolo Nutini's tender years, bigger things can be expected of him in the future
