Viennet (guitar); DJ Star trek (bass guitar); Daniel Spahni (drums).A man whose career has been spent in pursuit of the unlikely in terms of sounds, lifestyle, and clothing choices can't be faulted for picking a Swiss reggae band for his 2006 project, PANIC IN BABYLON. Though technology has caught up with Lee "Scratch" Perry in the shape of digital recording (the tracks' wholesome cleanliness reflecting the pristine air of his adopted Swiss home rather than the moist, ganja-filled Caribbean atmosphere of his 1960s and '70s days), the sonic trickster's vocal eccentricities are still very much on display on cuts like "Perry's Ballad" (which shows there's no reason not to rhyme "ballad" with "salad"), and the priceless "I Am a Psychiatrist." For good measure, Perry also revives the endearingly eccentric "Inspector Gadget" rhythm, first heard on his 1990 album FROM THE SECRET LABORATORY.
