Panasonic DMR-ES30 DVD Recorder / VCR Combo

Needed to replace broken DVD player plus wanted to xfer VHS tapes onto DVD format plus wanted a pause/record live TV function. Great value item, very easy to set up and operate - even the wife gets it! The remote is a little crowded and can be a little annoying if you are in a hurry. Aesthetics are OK though have sacrificed functionality to some degree - need remote to run most functions. Downside is that half my VHS videos are 'write-protected' (for all the right reasons)so have not been able to reduce the shelf space as much as would have liked. Connectability is brilliant - has everything you would want. Did end up buying three different types of blank DVD which in hindsight could have been avoided. For permanent copying movies buy cheap DVD -r, to rerecord on DVD buy DVD-RW , to make use of simutaneous record and play feature you need DVD RAM discs. Overall happy with item
