Good overall unit. Records direct to DVD or onto the the very large HD (200Gb).
Freeview tuner built in and very easy to use. The two points that don't quite make it perfect are:
1 - Doesn't support DivX playback
2 - Would benefit from twin-Freeview tuners
The remote is compact and easy to use also. Probably the best feature is the hard-drive..... no more messing about with discs if you need to record in a hurry, just press record and you're off! The recording can then be "dubbed" to DVD for a permanent copy and HD cleared (although as yet, I haven't needed to free any space on the HD). It is capable of storing over 300 hours of DV and editing out adverts etc is a doddle. Mult-region (plays all discs from other countries) and mult-format (DVD+-R, DVD-RW & DVD RAM) add to the flexibility.
Very impressive specs at a great price. It's time to lose that VCR for good!!
Highly recommended.

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes for the cinema version. I was, however, disappointed by the lack of extras, which any fan of this classic would expect to be included. There's only a 20-minute interview with the director and other shot "making-of" vignettes.
