One of Panasonics early DVD recorders, only supports recording on two dvd types, DVD-R and DVD-RAM, so no placing blank RW or +R discs in these things, they dont like it.
Has full editing features & "Timeslip Playback" on DVD-RAM format only.
DVD-R discs will allow you to record & playback as you would with a standard VCR, But remember to finalise the disc if you are going to play them back on a different dvd player.
One of the nice features of this recorder is you can still access all of the menus from the front panel of the machine, useful if you tend to lose the remote down the back of the sofa regularly.

i bought a panasonic e-30 off ebay and it was region 2 and i put in a dvd-r and it says cant copy on disc why and tryed the hack code to make it region free and the details say press the shift key so which ones that as no shift key on my control if anyone can help me

I buy items to repair never pay more than a few pounds and must come with remote else no good when fixed, and only buy local so i can collect.
brought this to fix (and have done).
most of these model do have a poor Reliability issues and a short life
but not to much trouble fo fix but not cheep to fix
as i am an electronic engineer this i can do
units when working gives good results
