I decided to buy as I liked the stated subject of interest. Set in eastern europe, but filmed in scotland. Scientist and group of mercenaries trek of to eastern europe looking for underground bunker and unbeknown what was awaiting them. Waffen SS had came back to claim new souls and do what the do best murder and torture. This film is for fans of horror done in a traditional sense.

  Original storyline and very scary!!

This film was definitely an original - I think it was really clever how they used the fact that the Nazi's were fanatical about keeping alot of the things they did (especially experiments) as top secret as they could. Basically the film is centred around the discovery of a machine that has made the Nazi soldiers who guarded this very same machine invincible, and it is their job to kill anyone who attempts to make this secret public. It is a very clever film and the SS are very scary!! Well worth buying.

  Nazi Super Race!

I'm a great love of both W11 and Horror movies so this seemed to be just the crossover ticket i'd been looking for. The blurb was tempting, so off bidding I went. If you are looking for Hollywood glitz and special effects, look away now. This film is well (if a little beleagueredly) acted and the cast generally believable. I would say watch this film on a Sunday night with a cold beer and a couple of mates. Shocks, laughs and some gore. Enjoy!

So many films........ so little time !

Gotta love the Horror genre !

This film follows the fortunes ( or rather mis-fortunes ) of some professional but rather unsavoury mercenaries hired to protect a client whilst he is out in the wild countryside of Eastern Europe looking for .....? Well, something that if they had known about it beforehand, they wouldn't have gone anywhere near.

This is a low budget film which holds together well. The sets are superb and believable. I could almost smell the dankness of the bunker. The acting and characters are stark, gritty and individual. The film came across as stark and gritty. It had a realistic rawness that sat and moved well on top of a foundation of Germanic horror.

Manic is about right, cause you wouldn't have gotten me to go 'down there' for any amount of money.

Perhaps you would care ( or dare ) to 'lock and load', and face the terror.

Be my guest. This film is worth the punt.

This should keep you on your toes throughout!
Review created: 25/04/09(updated 25/04/09)

I bought this purely out of curiosity. I'm not generally a fan of the "undead" idea, but viewing it on a flat 40" screen and listening to it with Bose headphones in Surround Sound I couldn't but feel and appreciate it the way the Director intended..."different" - (to say the least)!!

This is a Ghost Film NOT a horror/gore fest!
Review created: 09/03/09

Fisrt off this is a ghost film and has bags of atmosphere and dread but very little gore.
If you're after gore search out one of the multitude of Saw sequels.

Outpost has a very professional look to it and you would never know it's budget was only £1m! The picture is very clear & sharp and, although deliberate, it just looks a bit too washed out for me but that's the only criticism I have about this film. The sound too belies it's budget origins and it's a good 5.1 mix (although the DVD does default to stereo for some strange reason known only to Sony?)

It's a very subtle film and does take it's time to build but just soak up that atmosphere. Very spooky, the make up on the Nazi's looks good, the lead Nazi looks suitably evil and the film takes itself seriously.

The commentary track and the 38 min "making of" are both good and not just EPK fluff and backslapping, for instance all the exteriors were filmed in Scotland, the village on the beginning they drive through is just a factory from various different camera angles and that the rain is real rain....well it is scotland after all :-)
There are also 8 deleted scenes running about 12 mins that include an alternate opening & ending.
And Sony have even put the trailer for the actual film on as well - Well Done!

This is the best Nazi Zombie film there is until we get Dead Snow :-)

Make sure you get the UK R2 as the R1 has only 7 deleted scenes.....and that's it.....nothing else.....nada.

Outpost is a low budget British horror/war/suspense film from a first time writer and director. It has a strong cast of actors who while not being mainstream `A' list are all very good. It is well photographed and the script isn't corny at all. An enjoyable watch and well worth the asking price.

Review created: 04/01/09

The film outpost is brilliant for a low budget british made film,i found the actors better than well known actors that myself i am growing bored of seeing constantly on tv,i have seen some of the actors before in this film but would like to see more actors like these, instead of mel gibson, bruce willis, tom cruise etc who i cant stand, the film itself is jumpy in parts and i was glued to it and was eager to find out the outcome, the hole scenery, the bunker etc looked eerie and outdated and old it gave a feeling like you were there in that era,the natzi zombies made my flesh crawl, found them creepy,i give this film excellent, would like to see an outpost 2,so hope they make one.
