I have got to say i was surprised and impressed when i received this cd. All my favourite songs are there and the cast do a brilliant job on this soundtrack. In my opinion it isn't as good as on the stage but still well worth the money. I was shocked to discover non other than Gerard Butler (from the movie 300) is the Phantom!! What a talented guy he is! He does a fantastic job seeing as how he has no training. Very impressed with my cd and would recommend it highly.

The Phantom of the Opera (2004) (writer: "Auction at the Opera Populaire, 1919 (Prologue)", "Think of Me", "Angel of Music", "Little Lotte", "The Mirror (Angel of Music-Reprise)", "The Phantom of the Opera", "The Music of the Night", "Magical Lasso", "Notes", "Prima Donna", "Poor Fool, He Makes Me Laugh", "Il Muto", "Why Have You Brought Me Here?", "Raoul I've Been There", "All I Ask of You", "All I Ask of You (Reprise)", "Masquerade", "Why So Silent", "Ultimatums", "Journey To the Cemetery", "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again", "Wandering Child", "We Have All Been Blind", "Twisted Every Way", "Don Juan", "The Point of No Return", "Down Once More", "Track Down This Murderer", "Learn To Be Lonely") (producer: "Auction at the Opera Populaire, 1919 (Prologue)", "Hannibal", "Think of Me", "Angel of Music", "Little Lotte", "The Mirror (Angel of Music-Reprise)", "The Phantom of the Opera", "The Music of the Night", "Magical Lasso", "Notes", "Prima Donna", "Poor Fool, He Makes Me Laugh", "Il Muto", "Why Have You Brought Me Here?", "Raoul I've Been There", "All I Ask of You", "All I Ask of You (Reprise)", "Masquerade", "Why So Silent", "Ultimatums", "Journey To the Cemetery", "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again", "Wandering Child", "We Have All Been Blind", "Twisted Every Way", "Don Juan", "The Point of No Return", "Down Once More", "Track Down This Murderer", "Learn To Be Lonely") ("Hannibal")

Andrew Lloyd Webber's adaptation of Gaston Leroux's gothic horror/romance novel with worldwide sales of its original cast album approaching 25 million. While director Joel Schumacher's film turns on his typically ambitious visual verve, its new film soundtrack recording has been a hit for me .The presence of a hundred piece orchestra and The London Boys Choir. This double disc version showcases all of Phantom's musical (with Gerard Butler imparting a welcome, youthful sensuality to his Phantom, making a fine foil for Emmy Rossum's ever-conflicted Christine.
This is credit to all involved with the musical.
i loved it.
for years i had it on cassette.
And finally managed to get on CD
Downloaded onto my MP3
peolple might love it or hate it.
I'd love to go and see the stage version. but pennies are a bit low.
yet i can have great pleasure in listening to the CD's

I have always been a fan of Andrew Lloyd Webber,so to find an original copy of the "Phantom" was great.I waited ages for it to land on the door mat, through no fault of the sender,I hasten to add.At last it did,I have enjoyed it ever since.Probably to the annoyance of the locals! Although Im far from being teenage,I do believe "good music sounds best loud".

The Phantom Of The Opera 2004 (Movie Version)
Review created: 05/08/09

The 2004 Phantom Of The Opera Film did not fair too well at the box office, despite its lavish production values, although the 2-disc soundtrack was a worth while effort from the cast of the film.

Gerard Butler as the lead has a pretty good voice and tries his best to pull off what other before him had made their own in the theatre.

Gerard Butler and Emily Rossum's version of the title track is very good and sets the standard for the soundtrack.

Recommended for Gerard Butler fans and theatre lovers/Phantom Of The Opera fans only.

This is a must buy for all Phantom of the Opera Lovers!

This is an excellent production of the movie soundtrack which follows the film closely. Having heard both the original soundtrack from the stage show, and watched both the show and the film version, I actually prefer this one. I think the only downside for some people would be that there is a certain amount of talking from the actors at the beginning of some of these tracks as it appears in the film. The music is fantastic and has not been altered from the original but enhanced - also there are some extra tracks over the original. I recommend you watch the film first and then if you like it, buy the CD. The actors actually do sing (apart from Minnie Driver, although she does sing one track) and they have excellent voices, dare I say even better than Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford! Buy it and see for yourself.

Original Film Cast - Phantom Of The Opera
Review created: 10/04/07

I bought this cd because I saw the film as soon as it was released, having seen the west end show, and I wanted to listen to the soundtrack in the car. Unlike most soundtracks it includes the dialogue betweent the songs which makes it more interesting to keep up with the story. If you dont want to listen to this just press next track and it goes to the next song. This really is my favourite cd of all time. I love Gerard Butler as the Phantom, what a voice.
