Excellent for setting up your own home cinema

After reading many reviews on this projector and comparing this make and model with many others, this was the one that I decided to buy for my home cinema. The main reasons I decided on the Optoma HD65 were:
1. Great combination of features (lots of input connections, good native resolution of 720p, small physical size, long lamp life of 3000 hours, low cost of replacement bulbs - £50 to £100, 1600 ANSI lumens, 4000:1 contrast ratio).
2. Low cost when compared to other projectors with the same features.
3. Recommendations and good reviews.
If you are going to get an HD projector like this then you really must get yourself an HDMI cable to connect your projector to your video source. Initially I tried using basic component cables as these were the only ones long enough to reach from my computer to the projector. The maximum resolution I got was 720i and it was very blurry. As soon as I used an HDMI cable the picture went up to full 720p/1080i and is crystal clear. I thought HDMI cables would be expensive but I got a 7.5m cable with the DVI-D to HDMI adapter for less than £15 online. I have not tried the SVGA cable that came with it, I imagine the clarity to be somewhere in-between.
Watching HD video and viewing HD photos from my 12 megapixel camera is fantastic, it's like having a giant LCD TV mounted on the wall. The level of brightness is fantastic, the contrast is fantastic, edges are nice and crisp, colours are rich.
I tried using the projector during the day when it was quite light in the room and it performed much better than I expected. The only slight issue was with dark sections of video or dark images - they do not appear as dark as the should be (for obvious reasons!). But everything else looked as good as when viewed in the dark.
The only negative I have is that it is a little bit noisy at 29db - but then again that's the same as or better than every other comparable projector in the same price/feature range so it's not really applicable!
I thoroughly recommend this projector as I cannot find any fault with it.
