Album Notes Seks Bomba: Chris Cote (vocals, acoustic & electric guitars, strings, piano, sound effects); Lori Perkins (vocals, Hammond B-3 organ, Wurlitzer console organ); George Hall (6- & 12-string guitars, E-bow, Mellotron, keyboards, sound effects); Matt Silbert (acoustic & electric basses); Brett Campbell (drums, percussion). Additional personnel: Misty Kalkofen (vocals); Peter Linnane (accordion); Russ Gershon (tenor saxophone). Principally recorded at Rear Window Studios and Zippah Studios, Brookline, Massachusetts. This Boston quintet is a spirited hybrid of several decades worth of pop culture. Part surf, part lounge, part spy movie soundtrack, Seks Bomba paints with a wide brush. There's no hidden message here--it's all about fun. In this department, OPERATION B.O.M.B.A. never lets up. The band's simple components--occasional vocals, guitars, organ, bass, and drums--work for the common good. Everything is in service of mood. Hijinks and high style mingle as the band tools around in its own sportscar-sleek songs or takes wild turns behind the wheel of numbers by Bacharach, Schiffrin, and Mancini. Singer Chris Cote sings with the bravado of Tom Jones fronting a band firing off hot-wired guitar riffs.
