Only Fools And Horses - The Complete Series 5 (DVD 2002)

This was purchased for a present for someone who really wanted this series but could never afford it. She had always believed that series 5 of Only Fools And Horses was the very best to be televised. It arrived in exactly the condition as described. It proved to be in good condition and a bargain. Everyone was totally satisfied with this eBay purchase and transaction.

Only Fools and Horses is the much loved British Sitcom about the two Trotter brothers and their wheeling and dealing antics. Derrick 'Del Boy' Trotter dreams of being a millionaire and embarks on endless money making schemes which inevitably backfirst, whilst dragging his dopey brother Rodney 'Rodders' Trotter along with him. Along the way the audience is introduced to a variety of characters including their miserable Grandad, car dealer Aubrie 'Boycie' Boyce, and Trigger the street sweeper.

Only Fools and Horses is one of my favourite sitcoms. This series has some great episodes and is one of my favourites. Below I will do a mini-review (with the ratings out of 5*s) of each episode and then give the DVD an over all rating.

FROM PRUSSIA WITH LOVE - Rating ****
A German girl turns up in the Nags Head who's nine months pregnant. Marlene and Boycie are also trying for a child with no avail. Step in Del Boy who puts two and two together and sees a nice little earner. There are many funny moments in this episode with the highlight being Uncle Albert attempting to speak German with "Vot is your name?" Priceless.

THE MIRACLE OF PECKHAM - Rating *****
The statue of the Virgin Mary at the local church has been witnessed weeping. Del Boy quickly spots an opportunity to make money and soon has the cream of the world's media paying to film the event. But is it a coincidence that the statue only weeps when it rains? This is one of my favourite episodes with many funny moments and a great storyline. The best moment is the line by Rodney "Sorry viewers, the lords work calls, Rodney Trotter."

THE LONGEST NIGHT - Rating *****
A robber raids the local supermarket just as Del and family are out shopping. What's worse Del sold him a duff watch which means the robber is late and the time lock on the safe has activated, meaning that they have to stay till morning. This is another of my favourites with the best moment coming when Rodney goes to grab the cigarettes off the robber.

TEA FOR THREE - Rating *****
Trigger's niece Lisa is in town and both Del and Rodney are competing for her affections. This is again another of my favourite episodes. There are many great moments in this episode including Del turning the sun dial up on Rodney, Del being forced to go hang gliding, and Trigger's priceless line on the wheelchair "It could be worse. My gran had one with a squeaky wheel."

VIDEO NASTY - Rating *****
Rodney has gained a grant from the local council to produce a community film. Del Boy soon sees the earning potential and soon has a list of extras larger than the one for Spartacus. Mickey Pearce on the other hand has the idea of making a "different kind" of movie. Again this is one of my favourites and the best moments include Del's script idea for a killer rhino and the Vicars line on Boycie; "Really! I though it was because he was a Jaffa."

WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE - Rating ****
Del's pal Jumbo Mills is back from Australia with tales of booming business. He offers Del the opportunity of a lifetime by becoming business partners with him in Australia, but there are complications and Rodney can't go. Will Del leave Peckham for good? This is a funny episode but not as strong as others in the series.

Overall, series five is one of my favourites with lots of classic episodes. However, the DVD transfer could have been better (the episodes look like they did on TV) and there are no Extra Features.

Excellent DVD, as you would expect from only fools. Defo reccomend buying this DVD, excellent value!!

just because its a classic programe which still makes me laugh, David Jasson is an excellent actor as is Nicolas Lyndhurst, i like every episode of ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES .

this series of past comedy is a credit to what comedy is at its best...a shining example to some of the best in comedy acting...this is unique even right up to todays standards of proffessionalism...A MUST HAVE DVD!!!...

Only Fools and Horses is a classic and these episodes are among the best. However, I bought the DVD through Amazon Marketplace after NOT receiving the copy I’d paid for from an ebay seller. The seller was a scammer and despite messages from me and others that he’d scammed, ebay tool almost no notice. I eventually got my money back from paypal, but it took too long and paypal were of little help. Frankly, neither ebay or paypal can be trusted.

Only Fools and Horses is worth buying, but for peace of mind, get it from Amazon Marketplace, or anywhere but ebay.

only fools and horses is a habit,you watch one you want another, and so on,the comedy,the seriousness,the gimmicks,the actor`s bounce off each other..
its good fun,a timeless series,not a bad episode to be seen...

I never received this dvd took the money and ran and all i got was no longer user, this was a christmas present so pretty annoyed when it didnt show, i think sellers should be banned for good on ebay when they do not keep up to there agreement of sending products, all i can say is it wont put me off ebay just because of one irresponsible person

When a German damsel turns up in the Nag's Head she's definitely in distress - and nine months pregnant at that. Rodney's all beer and sympathy but Del's got an idea - could this be the answer to Boycie and Marlene's dreams of a child and a golden opportunity to make a few bob along the way?

Del Boy gets religion (or is he just on the make ?). The Madonna at the local church is seen to shed tears, but why does she only cry when it's raining and where did all that lead come from that's in Del's garage ?

TEA FOR THREE (21st September 1986)

Look out ! Del's tampered with the sunbed controls and Rodney's seeing red - literally ! His face is done to a turn. He'll hardly wow Trigger's lovely niece, Lisa, with his handsome good looks now which leaves the way pretty clear for Del himself. But revenge should certainly be sweet when he volunteers Del for a spot of hang gliding....

VIDEO NASTY (28th September 1986)

Rodney's been commissioned to make a film, with Mickey Pearce in the casting couch and practicing with the camera filming just a few weddings, thanks to Del, 'earn while you learn'. More extra's than Ben Hur, what could go wrong ?


WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE ? (5th October 1986)

Del Boy gets the chance to become a millionaire and make a fresh start with his old partner Jumbo Mills, down under in Australia, running his used car business. Both having equal shares in the company with 51% each !

As a long fan of Only fools & Horses I loved this DVD. Very funny. Great cast. As Del Boy once said to me LOVELY JUBBLY. Enough said...................
