So We Could Really Relate To The The Story At The Time And It's One That Stays With You For A Many Years After.
It Was David Morrissey's (Billy) First Screen Appearance And You Can See That He Would Go On To Greater Things,It Also Stars The Late James Hazeldine (Kidder) From London's Burning, Who Is Superb In This A Heartwarming Adventure About Two Liverpool Lads That Runaway To Wales After Billy Steals His Mom's Bingo Winnings And Spencer Leigh (Icky) Is So Funny To Watch As Billy's Thick Best Mate Who Agree's With Everything Billy Says.
This Is Quite A Powerful Drama That Has Everything,It's Touching, Uplifting and Tragic.
I Thought I Would Never Get To See This Again,But All My Christmas' Came At Once When I Found This DVD!

this product arrived in first class condition. i had been looking for this dvd for a number of years .

21.12.06. I watched this on TV when first shown in the early 80's, and it's been a delight to watch again. It's a tale of two hard done by and deprived lads from Liverpool who run away to Wales to re-live a happier time there on holiday. A must for all 80's TV fans or if your the same age as me! Make sure you buy and watch ASAP. Now just waiting for the others, Johny Jarvis and the one with that guy from 2 Point 4 Children. 31.12.06.Have rembered, it was called prospects. have been racking my brain for a week.

One summer came out when i was the same age as the characters it portrays and i was in Liverpool.Whilst it starts off pretty embarassingly trying to show how grim life was in Liverpool,(and it was pretty grim), at the time and some of the,(supposedly), comic moments when they get to wales are equally embarassing,once it gets settled into the story it comes on leaps and bounds,and you are rewarded with a decent story and some good acting which whilst dated is still enjoyable.
I would recommend that if you purchase this dvd,you should persevere through the Liverpool part of the story at the beginning as you will be rewarded.
Overall i would say it's a good purchase at the price and you can have a laugh at the clobber theyr'e wearing.(although i must say i looked pretty smart at the time).

Was delighted to find this gem on dvd. It brought back some happy memories.

Really entertaining and a classic must have for anyone from the Merseyside region.

I love watching this series as it reminds me of when I was growing up in Lancashire, which I was on the border of Merseyside, and I had lots of scouse friends. Although it's filmed in 1983, this makes no difference to the story.Its a classic...

LOVED THIS SHOW FROM BEGINNING TO END.i SAW IT FIRST TIME ROUND IN 1983,I WOULD HAVE BEEN THE SAME AGE AS BILLY AND ICKY(THE TWO MAIN CHARACTERS IN THE SHOW)AND REMEMBER FEELING SAD FOR THEM AND HOPED THINGS WOULD TURN OUT ALRIGHT FOR THEM.
NOW I HAVE WATCHED THE SHOW ON DVD 25 YEARS LATER IT SEEMS BETER THAN THE FIRST TIME ROUND.A SAD STORY WITH EXCELLENT ACTING IN PARTS.WATCH IT!

i remember this series from the 80's and had completley forgotten about it until my memory was jogged whistl talking to a scoucer friend, i looked for it on ebay and there it wasrecently released on dvd, so i had to have it, it was just as i remembered and took me back to the good old days

I decided to buy this as it finally was released on DVD in March having never been shown after its first showing on Channel 4 in the early 80's.

Back then I thought it was a great show and wanted to relive the experience to see if it was as good as I remebered.

If you remember this from 25+ years ago it will bring you back. If you have never heard of it, it is still a great show with many funny bits and also current issues like knife crime.

Was only ever 5 hour long shows, could and should have been more. The extra features are good too.

i remember watching one summer when i was younger and i never heard about it until i saw it on ebay.Now after watching it and realising that it was only put on dvd a couple of years ago(it was filmed in 83) it brought back good memories and showed how fantastic the acting was...........r.i.p james hazeldine!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great show from the 80's. All the elements of a good drama from a great writer. Watch it at least once!

Well I originally purchased this dvd for my partner as he watched it 15 years ago when it was a tv series. I thought it was an excellent film and would reccomend it to anyone.

Good to see this out on dvd. It only ever got one airing as far as I know. Its working class theme has to be preferable to the shallow consumer society dross they churn out in the current teenage based offering, Hollyoakes.

I bought this item as I kept remembering it from my childhood and wanted to see if it was the same as it was then and yes I still thoroughly enjoyed it and it took me back.

i watched this in the summer holiday 1983, always stayed in my mind, its as good today as it was then.

the three main actor's play quality role's, the story is brilliant. watched it when it first came out on tv been looking for it until now. dont miss.
