Olympus VN-2100PC (64 MB, 35.5 Hours) Handheld Digital Voice Recorder

Bought this for note taking during property inspections. Very small, very light, though feels a little too plasticky. Functionality is good, microphone sensitivity good (and adjustable). File handling and indexing simple and functional. Voice activation is excellent, doesn't miss a beat. Clock is not the most accurate but ok for marking the recording time. Wouldn't rely on it over a cheap quartz watch though. Recording times good given the limited memory. Will probably look out for a PC variant which allows usb connection to PC and dumping of recorded files.
Overall an impressive bit of kit, especially as I only paid £10 for a factory refurb including free plug in noise cancelling microphone which is considerably better than the built in mic.

This is good especially for the students who always missed what the lecturer have said. Clean and clear voice, even the lecturer stand far from you. The one I had bought is not a PC compatible, if you want, buy the PC version. Thanks

Very intuitive to use so easy to pick up and start using. Tactile feel is good and it's one of those 'things' you get every now and again which you just like holding and finding a reason to use. Battery life is very good and the noise cancelling microphone works well both to reduce ambient noise and to make portable use very easy. If you need to record data for later referral then I doubt you will find a more cost effective solution.

Previously I recorded classes using a mini tape recorder. It was an acceptable method but it left a lot of room for improvement. I purchased this model because of the download feature. I record and later download both class lectures and music samples for college classes. The ability to download these recordings and play them on a larger system has greatly enhanced studying, especially for music class.Great little device:-)

Excellent little digital recorder the only way it could be improved is if you could connect it to my pc but apart from that it does everything i need it to do. Picks up everything even from long distances

its nice and small, fun to use, easy to work when known, sound is good in xhq, hq, but not very good recording on lp. but i think lp setting is for surround recording, not for close recording coz the sound goes fuzzy. the mic is good, very clear, the pc connection makes it allot more exciting as you can edit the voice recordings for wat ever use ur using it for. expample: paranormal investigations which most people buy them for. so all good!

I have the 5100 i think, also, its the same great quality just a bit smaller and easier on the pocket. If you need to get a dictaphone just get one of these. Just be a bit careful on Long play as the quality deteriorates a little. But all the other settings fantastic

I've been after one of these for a while now.

I purchased a unit which was described as new and un-opened. On receipt of the unit it was clearly used with parts missing.

Unfortunately the seller would not respond so I logged a dispute with ebay and paypal.

Fortunately I was able to get my money back in full. I returned the used unit to the seller by recorded delivery but as it was not collected it was returned to me.

As I am still without a working Olympus I am unable to write a review on the unit.
