Great little camera

Great little camera for everyday use - if you can find one that works.
Olympus Mju Mini (a.k.a. Stylus Verve) is 4 megapixels; Mju Mini S (Stylus Verve S) is 5 megapixels. Either is more than enough for a basic point and shoot camera.
Main controls are extremely simple - on/off switch, mode dial, and shutter release. Menus and other controls are standard for an Olympus/Camedia camera, and not difficult to work out. LCD is small (but so is the camera!), but not too good in bright sunlight.
The Mju Mini is NOT waterproof - in spite of what you read elsewhere - but it is showerproof and will survive being splashed. A waterproof housing is easily obtained that allows swimming and snorkelling down to 3 metres.
Most common serious problem with the Mju Mini is the lens mechanism jamming, so the camera resets and switches off when first turned on: It's not economic to fix, but you can often get it to work by pointing the lens downwards when turning on. (Once it's on, it's usually fine.) Minor problems include the battery latch being broken off, and the battery compartment cover not staying closed: Workaround is some padding in the battery compartment to keep the battery in place, and duct tape the cover closed.
Both models were produced in a range of different fashion colours, some of which are less common than others. Auction prices usually around £30-60 ($50-100), depending on the model and condition.
