Excellent camera after owning many. Published pictures in my local post the first week of ownership. Very small in the hand but perfect. All the gizmos you'll need and not full of un-useful one's making it easier to work with when you are in a hurry. Live view very important these days. Still very cheap if you purchase the kit. The camera can be used professionally but you'll have to pay for professional lenses ,the standard lens aren't brilliant but you'll be surprised what you can get away with ,just photographed Red Arrow's and surprised myself with the accuracy in focusing and metering. Excellent!

The camera was bought as a Christmas present for self/family. We already have a compact digital Olympus,which has been very good for most purposes but wanted something with higher resolution and more ability to control the settings particularly with flash settings and aperture/shutter speed. we found that indoor shots were often out of focus with no way of actually controlling the focus. Took advice from a professional photograher friend as we wanted the camera to be as light and small as possible. Read lots of reviews online which indicated that it was a good buy. The Olympus is apparently the lightest and smallest at the moment . The cost from the main retailers was likely to be high with one asking over £700 at the time and most with only one lens but found the item on eBay offering a bonus of two lenses for under £400 so took a chance.
It has a large screen and has live view so you have the choice of using the view finder or screen to take pictures. The pictures are stored on Compact Flash cards or Olympus XD which was an atttraction as we already have some large XD cards for use with the Compact camera
So far we are very pleased with purchase. The quick start intruction sheet was in French?? but main book in English. Still learning the finer points of use but results so far with Christmas pictures taken indoors and out have been very good and the instruction book is clear.
The whole thing is heavier,bulkier and less convenient than the compact camera but am looking forward to the extra picture quality and variation that can be achieved.
Did consider the Nikon and Canon alternatives but they were heavier and /or didn't have the live view.

Excellent first DSLRI have for many years been using a Minolta Dimage Z1 digital camera and felt it was time to take the next step into digital SLRs. Around the £300 mark were models from Pentax, Olympus, Nikon and Canon (the four makes I was considering). In terms of price-performance at this price level, I felt the Olympus E-410 (and E-420) was slightly ahead of the field. The Pentax K200D would also be a good choice I think. The Olympus is small, light and very easy to use. Check out the review on dpreview.com for info about how to get the images sharper (i.e. turn the noise filter off). Fast continuous shooting mode and generally fast reaction times. Thoroughly recommended for someone entering the digital era, or looking to move to a digital SLR.

I've been wanting a proper camera for a while. I've had a few Olympus compact cameras, which are fine but just don't have the quality of my old SLR which was heavy and had all the trouble with getting films developed.
I spent ages deciding what make and model to go for and reading reviews (there is just so much choice). Eventually I went with the Olympus E-410 because of several advantages. Firstly size, it is much smaller and lighter than any of the other cameras. Secondly, it has a live view option which having gotten used to it on compacts has it's uses. Thirdly price, the E-410 was available for a very good reduced price NEW on ebay, if you're prepared to have a refurb you can get it even cheaper! Fourth, there are plenty of accessories for it and fifth, I was familiar with the Olmpus menu system and find it very easy to use.
I have not been disapointed with the camera in any way, the only thing it doesn't have is image stabalisation, which I've never had anyway so I don't miss it.
This camera should last me for years, the pictures I've taken with it so far are outstanding.

At the time I had a kodak 710, and as i experimented with manual controls found that not being able to focus manualy was startin to try my patients. The way forward was dslr.Bought the e410 by luck. It was small, light by comparison, 10 mega pxl, and was cheapish. Not brand new, but oh so near. In the 4 weeks I've had it , I havent put it down. Has good colour, the menu isnt to confusing, is easy to change settings fast, leaving only a hand full of items you have to change through the menu. I cant say its an excellent camera, for the main reason, I havent really tried any other dslr. Dont have to now either. Bad points, havent found any yet. Oh , the software is really good as well.

I really like this camera as a beginner.
Light weight and live view are very good to me.
I don't like the shutter sound but, this is compared to classic slr. I feel same for all dslr.

This is my first Digital SLR, although I previously had a Minolta Dimage 7Hi which had similar capabilities. So far, I am delighted with it. It is very easy to use, lightweight to carry, and takes excellent pictures. My main reason for buying this make and model was the price, as I wanted a quality 10 Megapixel SLR for less than £300. This one had the bonus that it came with two lenses, unlike most of the alternatives available at this price on eBay.
My only minor gripes, are that the flash seems to pop up and operate occasionally even with the controls set to no flash, and that the instructions for inserting the compact flash card could be clearer.
What I like very much is that the camera switches on almost instantaneously and there is hardly any delay between pressing the shutter release and seeing the results. Battery life seems fine, and it is very easy to handle and operate.

Having a faulty camera is a pain in the backside, I know, my Olympus E-300 has been broken since day 1 and even Olympus themselves can't fix it!
But my E-410 seems to be ok so far, the focus has been improved on and it's lighter, not as bulky (compact), quieter and altogeter, much much better. Not to mention the 'Live View', which definately comes in handy!
The only real issue with this camera is the On & Off Switch, it's far to close to the selction dial and unless you have very nimble fingers, it can be a problem. And on that note, some may find it a little 'too compact'.
It takes some excellent photos though, but being 10 megapixels the files seem to come out as overly large files, thus reducing your computer memory rather quickly...
Especially as a pose to the E-300, which is 8 megapixels and the files are resonably sized.
Altogether a excellent camera, but before you buy one... Make sure that your willing to use it to it's full potential, it's an Awesome camera and can do so much, not to be used a basic point and shoot camera. As the phrase goes "If your gonna do it, do it right!"

nice piece of kit. all singing and dancing, whilst giving you all the control you want. feels like a proper (as in old school) camera, except for the light weight. takes a good day or so of swearing and stomping around to get the feel of it, and then you just get going....

We love to take photo's & decided to take the leap from our little hand held digital camera to this bad boy. Cant say the manual is easy to understand we are simply doing trial & error at the moment learning by our mistakes. The picture quality is amazing the scene selection gives you lots of options - nature macro has produced some amazing pictures for us.
not going into technical information because frankly we are amateurs & dont understand half of it , but in simple terms the camera is light well worth the money & takes amazing photo's.

La Olympus E410 es una camara DSLR de gama media ideal para aficionados que quieren algo mas.
Despues de estudiar varias opciones (especialmente Canon 400D, Nikon D40x) me decidi por la Olympus por dos motivos principalmente: tiene "todo y mas" que las dos anteriores a un precio relativamente menor.
Por el precio de una Canon o una Nikon mas un objetivo "estandar" te puedes comprar una E410 con dos objetivos que, aparentemente son algo mejores.
El uno punto flaco de la Olympus es que no dispone de sistema de reduccion de la vibracion. Para eso tendriamos que irnos a una E510 (unos 100 euros mas cara). Esperemos que en breve se lancen objetivos con esta funcion integrada a un precio razonable.
Dado que la camara cumple el estandar cuatro tercios, al abanico de objetivos compatibles deberia ser amplio.
En fin, si no quieres tener una camara solo con nombre o no necesitas la prefeccion a cualquier precio, esta es tu camara.
Ademas, los menus son muy sencillos y, por si fuera poco es la DSRL mas pequeña y ligera del mercado.
Puede que no sea la mejor es todos los apartados pero desde luego es la que hace todo mmuy bien a un precio muy ajustado.

I am a keen photographer and currently studying freelance and commercial photography. I needed an SLR camera to assist me with my projects and to develop my skills further. I had read some good reviews about this camera and I have to say that all the reviews were correct.
This is a high resolution 10-megapixel camera and the images produced are sharp and crystal clear. When used with a tripod, I have taken some amazing photographs. The camera is relatively easy to use, and has the range of options that you would expect to have with a standard SLR.
The LCD monitor is of a good size.
My purchase came with two Zuiko zoom lenses which was a bonus and the lenses are very easy to change. It can also be used with underwater housing.
The camera body is reasonably light and compact for an SLR and came with camera strap but no case.
The instruction manuals are OK, and do provide some guidelines and explanations but could be more descriptive to benefit buyers with little experience of using SLR's.
There are built in shooting modes to choose from for taking shots in different scenes such as portrait, macro, sunset, beach, action, nightscene etc, that save you having to manually adjust the camera settings. However there is no movie option as per other Olympus models, and not as many built in Edit options.
Alternatively you can set the aperture and shutter speed manually fo greater control.
Overall I have been very impressed with the quality of the photographs produced and the camera was purchased at a very reasonable cost.

We wanted to take the next step in digital photography read all the reveiws on this model and decided it met all our needs.The camera itself is excellent, in auto its brill, but it takes some getting used to in manual but that is great because its how to learn about photography without the need to develop film and wait for the results.Great camera all round buy and see for your-self.

This Camera is the best thing I have bought on E-bay. I did buy the earlier model
Olympus Evolt E-300 but without the live view it restricted me for what I required.
This Evolt E-410 with the live view, gives perfection, the shape is easy to handle and the double Card selection is sensational. I would always look for the perfect item of any kind on E-bay first before looking elsewhere
The automatic flash opens up when required without having to think about it. The selection of scene shots is so simple, even a child could get the perfect picture
with the auto focusing producing the crystal clear photograph. A most pleasurable camera to handle and as I say the best buy I ever made on E-Bay.
