Not only is this a digital voice recorder but it also doubles as an MP3 player. In both modes it performs excellently. As a voice recorder the number of functions and settings are well above average and the sensitivity of this recorder and replay quality are amazing. It is light and very compact but with its metal construction it also gives a very robust feeling. As an MP3 player again the sound quality is excellent and with the multi file options finding and organizing your music is effortless. The only complaint I would make about the DM-20 is that there is no on/off power switch, which would preserve battery life, and the record button on the side can be inadvertantly hit thus powering up the recorder again using battery life, however, there is an audio tone which announces recording, Overall these are minor niggles with an excellent recorder and I would still give it a 10 out of 10 recommendation.

I am very pleased with this recorder and bought it for recording a course lecture . Fortunately it came with a directional sony microphone which when focused on the teacher gave very good results .Infact better than expected .The olympus microphone supplied is not as good as the sony one. .I did not have any difficulty in using the features . All in all an excellent voice recoder and I have yet to make use of the mp3 player .

A top of the range recorder with more than enough memory to store numerous lectures with good range & high quality.this enables you to play back whenever you want without the need to download & store until youre able to get to a pc.Also you have the ability to store on pc any recordings you wish to keep.The speech quality is of the very best with no chance of lost or confusing statements.Any person in a position to use one of these would find this modle the best in its field.

This is an excellant voice recorder. I have used it in lessons at uni, and it picks up the main voice of the lecturer with little interference from anyone else and it loads straight up to your laptop because of the in built hard-drive. It has different recorder functions, in terms of recording quality. its ideal for those difficult lessons as you can go back to them easily, with each recording on the laptop with the name of the lesson etc. You can also put some songs on it, so it has two functions(music & recording).

Top quality voice recorder which plays your music files as well!Metal construction oozes class and it works as good as it looks. Comes complete with remote mic,headphones,wrist strap,docking station which transfers the files to your computer direct from the recorder,software on cd and comprehensive instruction book as well as a quick start leaflet outlining the basic operation.
It is all packed into its own smart soft case which fits into your jacket pocket. Highly recommended.

This digital recorder is an excellent gadget. First of all it is very easy to control. All buttons are in correct place for painless operation. Recording quality is superb. It has five folders for storing your files. (200 files for one folder) You can listen to your recordings file by file or continuously. Software helps you to change your files to common WAV format.
It is my second purchase of this device. I bought it because the price these days dropped dramatically. For the first one I paid more than £160 and now just over £40. Very good value!!!
I bought it as a present for my friend.

This has very clear sound, can play your mp3s on it, battery life is good,
they could make it even better if batteries would charge while connected to USB
had a small problem with software at first, but once updated at there web site works a treat on xp , have not tested it on vista yet but told software update in available, very well designed software, easy to use, very good edit program also allows drag and drop for folders
this is the best digital recorder I have ever used, and worth every penny, they use there own software but files can easly be converted in windows to enable you if you wish to play recording back useing windows media player and send files to friends by email, great little unit. An excellent offering from a very well established company. Well made yet light, good quality sound and interfaces easily with a laptop computer. You can even store and play itunes on it. Gripes? one or two. The brushed aluminium surface scratches very easily if in contact with anything in one's pocket like loose change. The quality of playback on the lowest setting is poor but manageable. I did, however, love the system of folders, which you can rename, for example, "Bright ideas", "Shopping list" etc! which helps to keep your information neat and tidy. Can be used on two mike settings; one for dictation and one for a conference. Provided with software and a dock for downloading your pearls of wisdom to your PC.
I would strongly advise you to purchase Sony's inexpensive zoom microphone for enhanced audio quality, however, the unit itself covertly positioned in a top pocket whilst set on the "conferance" mode will clearly record those "barely legal" covert conversations.
Summary: Small and unobtrusive way of recording any speech or music. Alkaline AAA batteries provide about 16 hours of use. Perfect for businessmen, students, budding amateur secret agents, or simply recording your shopping list.
