I have a semi-pro Olympus E510 Digital SLR and a pocket compact but the compact does not have an optical viewfinder and I dislike using the monitor at arms length. I wasn't concerned about pixel size and a 5MP small camera with an optical viewfinder attracted me. I prefer Olympus and so when I saw the C-50 being auctioned I went for it. I am pleased with the camera but it isn't without it's drawbacks. It is a little bulky compared to newer compacts (including my existing compact) but that can be useful for stability however the most irritating feature is the one most compacts have and that is switching off the flash. My semi-pro has a menu that allows me to set the flash default to off all the time but the compact only allows me to switch the flash off when before I take the picture and if I forget to do this I end up with the flash going off when I don-t want it to. Otherwise the quality of the results are very good and the camera has become my car camera.

This camera is very easy to use; just slide the cover back to turn it on. It's small and light enough to carry easily in a jacket pocket and because of this, you're more likely to use it than a larger, better spec camera. It isn't a new model and there are smaller cameras with better specs out there, but because of it's age, a good condition example can be obtained for a very reasonable cost. It's very robust and easy to use, and it was for this reason I bought one for my 6 year old daughter - and later, another for my 78 year old father. The battery life is very good, and should the battery fail or you require another for a spare, one can be obtained on eBay very cheaply. The pictures it takes are very good quality; the colours are very natural and although it's only 5.0 megs resolution a 10" x 8" print is not out of the question. I find this camera very hard to fault; it does everything that you can reasonably expect of a camera in it's price range and even more when you consider that it comes with a very good remote control - if you buy one, I don't believe you will be disappointed!
Purchased this item to use for selling items on ebay, camera on mobile phone didnt give the level of photos required to show the item. The camera the ebay sent to me was as stated and works very well and is ideal for what i require. To any dis-likes about the item i have none as im very pleased with the item and can not pick fault with it. I have purchased many good things from ebay and only once or twice have i had any problems with items not turning up in which case refunds have been given. So in general i would say im pleased with buying things from ebayers on ebay and will keep doing so for many years to come.
I bought the C-50 very cheaply as non-working and it was exactly that. I bought it for the accessories which came with it and was very pleased with them!
I have a C-60 - also bought at an excellent price on eBay - and can't fault it. It does exactly what it says on the box and so I'd expect a C-50 - or a working one, at least - to do the same.
I have purchased this camera as i needed another camera and i have always used an Olympus and never had any problems with them, the reason why i bidded for this one is that it is more upgraded than mine, even thou it as got a slight fault the price i brought it for was good.
Solid feel metal body with presets inc full auto function plus manual options inc spot, bracketing etc. Personally like most I set it at auto or one of several pre-set modes. Hardly ever a bad photo. Software simple to install and use. Robust in the extreme, my daughters friend 'bounced' it over rocks in Barbados to no ill effect apart from a couple of minor dings! Two quibles: Shutter has to be closed to review pics, screen by todays standards a bit small and lacking but it has a viewfinder for actually taking the photos so no need to put your specs on for this primary function. Nifty remote, good battery life, nicely styled, many features (see full specs)...if you see one cheap and in good 'nick' on ebay just go for it!
The C-50 Zoom is an ultra-compact 5.0 megapixel digital camera with an all-metal body. The C-50 is as easy-to-use as a point and shoot with features that support advanced photographic control.
It offers a 3X optical zoom (12X total seamless zoom when combined with the 4X digital zoom), which is optically the equivalent zoom range of 38mm to 114mm.
With a shutter speed of 1/1000th of a second for action photography, the extensive shutter speed range allows long exposures of up to 8 seconds.
It features a mode dial that enables quick settings for an assortment of shooting situations with a turn of the dial.
In fully Programmed Auto mode, the camera offers basic point-and-shoot simplicity for flawless picture taking.
The easy-to-use Scene Programs on the mode dial provides fully automatic exposure adjustments for Portrait, Self-Portrait, Landscape-Portrait and Sports or Action photography.
The special "My Mode" feature is a time saver as it enables users to assign frequently used functions for quick and easy access.
It's been in the market for a while but a good overall camera for normal users.
