I remember stumbling across the Office while it was on BBC2 a few years back and it took me a while to realize it was a spoof documentary. no such misgivings with the DVD off course, but it has such an authentic feel that you could easily find yourself forgetting that this isn't some odd Big Brother spin off!

Ricky Gervais at his very best here, with an extremely intelligent script and a well assembled cast.

Series 1 is probably the best, or it at least set a very high bar for anything that followed to beat.

I highly recommend this DVD, even if you're not a fan of reality TV.

Having worked in a very similar office, the similarities never cease to amaze me! We had a Gareth! - complete with haircut and accent! I think that the humour appeals to those who have worked in a similar environment - VERY clever - spot-on! - and great if you're feeling fed up with work, just put this on and just laugh about it!

This is the best of the best of the best of british comedy. Everything about this show is so funny. This is a must for anyone wanting to have a good laugh.

One of the comedy greats, a classic must own. Gervais is brilliant as cringeworthy office boss David Brent. Supported by a high quality cast, The Office will go down as one of the greatest comedies of all time.

I will admit the first time I saw this I thought "what is this rubbish". I had no idea if it was a comedy or series and that I believe is the whole point to the series. It is meant to be played out as a series documentary on life in an average everyday office.Even due to my initial dislike for some reason I came back to it the following week and it started to click and from that point on I thought it was utter comedy genius.All the characters are played so well that you can see various people you work with in them and this adds so much to the series. All the actors click well together like they have been there for years and had to put up with each other.From Brents genius little looks to the camera to Tim's mickey taking of Gareth is just superb. The more I watch the two series the more little moves I see the actors do that I missed before and all of these add to the people they play to make them feel more real.The Christmas special was the icing on the cake and the ending was prefect and it keeps you guessing to the very end. As much as I hate to say it another series would spoil what they have created as it just seemed to be the prefect time to finish.One of the best comedy's ever to have been made and I will not get bored of watching it. Utter genius.

This is a supreme comedy work. It is not for everyone, however Gervais lovers and indeed lovers of this unique brand of awkward British humor will love this. It really make you cringe at times with the painfully real interaction of Gervais' character David Brent and a number of other foils. It is essentially a comic love story about Tim, a lovable and amusing man, and Dawn, a woman who is dating a man who she's not in love with while tending "The Office's" reception. This comedy Goliath is truly one of the greatest comedy series ever created.

I recently bought this item again for a £1 to watch and oh how much fun it is. I'm sure one time or another we have all had bosses like him, and the scary thing is at times I could see a little bit of myself within him as well (shock horror).

Nothing will ever beat the first series of The Office. It is still hilarious to this day and anyone who has ever worked in an office will recognise several of the characters - maybe even themselves ! - and laugh heartily

I never saw the series when it was originally released in 2001 and have only ever seen the odd episode since then. Therefore, I decided to buy series one and see what it was all about.

I have probably watched the whole series three or four times already and think that it is absolutely brilliant. It is almost Fawlty Towersesque in the way that the humour keeps coming at you without any breaks.

Episode four is probably my favourite of the lot, where throughout the staff training David Brent continually talks over the facilitator and the afternoon session inevitably descends into banality and chaos.

Well done Ricky Gervais and Co for creating this comedy gem. I will be looking out for series two soon.

I like the virtual reality of Gervais's character portrayal. I bought it because the other popular Gervais series - Extras - was so superb.
