Well believe this. The truth is Oasis are still quite simply put, the best band on the planet.

It's about time that the past masters came back and showed these punk wannabe indie/'so-called' rock bands how it's done.

This is arguably Oasis best album since the legendary (What's The Story) Morning Glory, each band member has a crack at song writing and each show their skills. But it's no suprise the some of the best songs on the album are written by the masterful Noel Gallagher.
'Lyla' is a pulse pounding vintage Oasis rock 'n' roll track that stormed to number 1 and showed Oasis are showing no signs on slowing.

'The Importance of Being Idle' is simply, one of the best Oasis have ever done, the guitars, the drums, the lyrics, the vocals - everything is done with flawless perfection and again stormed to the top of the Uk charts.

'Let There Be Love' was the final release from the album and showed a softer side to Oasis, and was done brilliantly.

Despite only three singles being released, the rest of album is still full of killers - 'Guess God Thinks I'm Abel' and 'Meaning of Soul' are both written by Liam and are both outstanding tracks.

In fact, you don't even need to me to go on...buy it and appreciate Oasis back to their finest.

This and Heathen Chemistry make me cry. It maybe contains the odd good tune (well, Stop Crying Your Heart Out), but is - all in all - utterly forgettable. Shame. Oasis were a band with brilliant B-Sides. Now even the A-sides are below industry standard. Only keeping it because I was a die-hard Oasis fan. Stopped putting it in the CD player a long time ago.

Don't get caught up in all the reviews of this album. What matters is your own personal opinion and what the music means to you. For me this album is great from start to finish. 'Don't believe the truth' is definitely one of thier best albums to date. Some people will say thay oasis have lost what they used to have?? But personally i think the music, the band and albums are always getting better. I agree with what someone said on another review here saying 'Oasis are one of the best bands in the world'. This really is their best work since 1995's globe-straddling WHAT'S THE STORY (MORNING GLORY).
The music has matured and personally i love it, can't wait until the next album!

  Hit and miss

Noel takes something of a back seat here and out of the 11 tracks only 5 are written by him.
'Lyla' and 'Part of the queue' are 2 of the 5 that finds him in top form but as much as i try,i dislike 'The importance of being idle'it is so far from anything oasis have done before.
His vocal on 'Mucky fingers' ressembles Chas and Dave and 'Let there be love' is so John Lennon it is emmbarrasing.
Liam on the other hand has penned 3 half decent tunes although his lyrics leave a lot to be desired;
"yer love is like a bomb"
"yer blowin my mind you turn me on"
The best 2 songs 'Keep the dream alive' and 'A bell will ring' are written by Andy Bell and Gem respectively and sound early Oasis.
The Beatles influence is clear to see and whilst not the best album in the world,it remains fresh and appealing to all Oasis fans, mainly because the songs are penned not just by Noel but all the band members.

Oasis - Don't Believe The Truth (CD 2005)
Review created: 09/01/07

Oasis are back, i think this album reviews itself, i can remember back in the day when oasis first started out and def maybe was just out people saying who are those idiots from manchester, they wont last they are a flash in the pan, well 11 years on and dont beleive the truth rams those words back down their throats, every member of the back has written at least one track every track unique and has a new sound and edge to it (abit like a modern beetle sound) and who would know at the time of this album being made that oasis would have to had a stand in drummer to make the record in the form of zak starkey (ringo starr's son) maybe that what adds to that new found sound, their is a real mature classy sound to this album and is a real must for any true music lover again oasis have changed modern day music forever!

I know nothing about music except that I know what I like or do not like, and I do like this album. The melodies are great and both Liam's and Noels voices are superb. Why do i like it? I do not know, I like sex, but why? dunno, just enjoy...
