OMD - Sugar Tax (CD 1991)

I initially purchased this item on vinyl but because ive played it so much over the years the sound quality wasn t very good.
I was pleased to be able to get the cd on ebay and obviously the sound quality is a lot better.
I have always been a big OMD fan so was thrilled to get the cd on ebay.

The album was bought as a replacement to the cassette version I had and lost, lol. With such classics like " the speed of sound " and " seven seas " this is a true classic. A good partner to go with the best of OMD CD.

I only bought this album because it was cheap, I liked OMD in the 80's but I had read that they had gone way past there prime, how wrong that was. I was very pleasently suprised to find a well constructed, 'catchy' set of songs. With OMD albums there is always a few 'strange' songs that are just over sampled stories, that can never be understood, but this album is very fluid. I will have this on my current playlist for quite a while, highly recommended

So after the highs of OMD in the early eighties and the not so highs towards the end of the decade this album was just what the Doctor ordered. Full of well thought out lyrics and really outstanding melodies based around the early 90s dance-pop rhythms. McCluskey's voice is as good as ever and, although not as experimental as previous albums, put OMD firmly back on the map. If you don't mind the remainder of this cult band selling out a little and moving into mainstream dance-pop then go out and buy it!! You'll not be disappointed.

Absolutely brilliant!! Am updating old collection of cassettes and this was a find! This cd is a must if you are a fan or even a fan of this genre of music.. Every track is excellent and the sound tops. Must include that I have always found this particular album one of their best.

Classic OMD, bought for my boyfriend to replace the cassette he had and he loves it. A must have for OMD fans, his favourite track All That Glitters.

Good new music from OMD. Still some of the old songs on this album though. Good if you don't have much of OMD in your collection.

Fantastic cd not a bad track on it. Big town and neon lights are highlights for me.
A very good comeback for 'omd' minus Paul,Martin and Andy.
Went to see omd when they were touring promoting this cd and the tracks sounded better live than on the cd. A great night.

This is really an andy mccluskey solo album.
It can't hold a candle to real OMD albums in terms of breadth and experimentation. But if you like pure pop, and catchy tunes then this will please you no end. Funnily it reminds me of a lightning seeds album.
It is miles better than junk culture.
Try to get the rare early version which has "neon lights" on it, it is a kraftwerk cover that kraftwerk fans will hate, but it is fab for everyone else

I bought this cd as i only had the tape version and i am trying slowly to get all my unused tapes on cd without downloading then eh hem cracking cd but all that glitters is the best sing along ever once you know the words
