Album Notes Radiohead: Thom Yorke (vocals); Jonny Greenwood, Ed O'Brien, Colin Greenwood, Phil Selway.Additional Personnel: Adam Cummings (guitar).Engineers include: Nigel Godrich.OK COMPUTER was nominated for the 1998 Grammy Award for Album Of The Year and won the 1998 Grammy for Best Alternative Music Performance.OK COMPUTER, Radiohead's third album, is the bombastic follow-up to 1995's sleeper hit THE BENDS, which left critics and listeners as impressed with the band's ability as they were curious about their potential. In spite of its technological-sounding title and apocalyptic sci-fi themes, OK COMPUTER is firmly grounded in the rock verities. Waves of guitars rage beneath the haunting melodies and near-hysterical fits of singer Thom Yorke. This complex, intense swarm of guitars is held aloft by a solid, inventive rhythm section and an impressive array of piano and keyboard textures."Paranoid Android" is a six-minute-plus epic with alternating time signatures, wild dynamic shifts, drama and adrenaline to spare. "Let Down," with its double-tracked vocals and rhythmic throb, may give a brief glimpse back at Radiohead's past, but at no point is OK COMPUTER anything but a hurtle forward. Released almost a decade ago in 1997, the time when we were seeing a masive change in the way technology affects our lives. When I first saw the album cover with the words 'OK computer' it alomost made me feel like the world was saying it. 'OK computer, you win, take us and do with us what you will' For me this ablum signified the dawning of a new age for us all. It was like Radiohead had come of age, their first and second album establishing them for what they are, OK computer was a way of saying 'Now we have your attention, listen to this' Almost every track on the album has it's own unique flavour. There are no album fillers here, it feels like every song is there for a reason. You can hear a real confidence within this album, almost like the band were past caring what we all might think of it. The musicianship, production and songwriting was up to a level not often reached. It's not often you get another pink floyd come on to the music scene. It seemed there were many guitar based bands rising up through the charts in the 90s but none of them seemed to capture the timeless genuis of Radiohead. There are no comprimises on this album. It's pure music! Some might say an aquired taste, in fact in 1997 when released I personally did not like the band or the album. I look back on myself and think of this time as a sort of deafness within me, to be ignoring such an album at such an important time in our lives! OK Computer is now my number 1 album, my desert island disc. Voted the best album in the world ever made by the readers of Q Magazine. If you dont have this album - Get it. It's an essential ingredient in any CD collection. In Fact get 2 copies, you might wear one out! Review ID: 10000000000714880 Was this review helpful? This album is the musical equivelant of the 3 lord of the rings films (extended versions) packed into one CD, the icing on the cake is Paranoid Android, an album and song that will be considered right up there with the classic albums. This album is a necessity if you want your CD collection to have some respectability about it. If you find this review helpful then please rate my review. thanks. Report this review Reviews This album is simply amazing! There is no time to get bored with all the stop, starts and changes in the music. This is where the transition in their style really started! This is definately a album to listen to if you are looking to be inspired. Radiohead carry the image of being sombre, well this album is thriving with energy i would compare it to that stage in depression where you get a glimpse of hope and start to blossom! lol Enjoy!
