If you loved the film, you have got to have loved the music, i bought the cd for the simple reason that all the songs that are in the film are on here, and they are even better to listen to all the way through, than just the bit's in the film, well recommended cd this.
I wanted this CD after seeing the film and although I have never appreciated this sort of music before I have become quite attached to it. I find myself humming the songs and dancing very oddley about the house, much to my childrens amusement! Good fun and also quite moving in parts, hoorah!
Never been asked to write a review before, so here goes. Saw the movie, great, loved the music, brilliant, so bought the CD. Was going to buy the company, but too expensive. Full of 1930s American depression music, very Steinbeck Hooverville-ish; very haunting tunes and songs. Most of the songs were well known before the movie, but to lump them all together, there's the magic. American music in the raw: very different to most modern music. A modern day classic movie, with a classic soundtrack to match.
I LOVE THIS SOUNDTRACK IT TAKES YOU FROM THE MELANCHOLY AND THOUGHTFUL TO THE FRANTIC AND FAST. THIS SOUNDTRACK HAS IT ALL AND REALLY LIFTS ANY LOW MOODS. IT HAS A GREAT MIX OF COUNTRY AND WESTERN THAT WILL PUT A SMILE ON YOUR FACE ONE MINUTE AND SEND YOU OFF TO SLEEP THE NEXT. THE FILM ITSELF WAS SUPERB AND THE SOUNDTRACK MATCHES AND COMPLIMENTS IT SUPERBLY. MY KIDS LOVE THE MUSIC AND IT HELPS SEND MY BABY TO SLEEP......
A great and iconic CD that is every bit as good as I expected having previously heard at various times but only in part. Having longed to own this CD for sometime I am grateful for teh opportunit yto buy it so reasonably on ebay.
I loved the film and this is the second copy of the soundtrack I have bought on ebay in the last year. The first one got stuck in my car player and I have had serious withdrawal symptoms ever since!
The sound quality and performances are excellent throughout and the music is perfect for the film - a wonderful blend of songs and highly recommended. Couldn't ask for a better soundtrack!
Bought this CD as I love this film and the music. It is 'old timey' American depression era type songs, very blue-grass. Brilliant words and even though most the tunes have a religious based meaning they are great. I listen to it in the car and especially in the kitchen when cooking! My sons are 16 and 21 and they love it too. Highly recommended if you like the film.
My partner bought this cd for his mums birthday. He has been listening to it nearly no stop and then singing it as well my daughter love dancing to the music and fell asleep on dads shoulder when listening to the lulaby. His mum loved it WHEN she got it too.
Saw the film which has become a favourite and the music, although not my usual listening, prompted me to get the CD. I may buy more of this type in the future. It was everything I imagined the quality of the recording was first class.
I watched this film a few years ago when it came out. I loved the film i thought it was great. I especially loved the music from the film. When i seen this soundtrack on ebay i placed a bid straight away and was delighted to win it. It is excellent!!!!!
If you like the sound of the deep south and down and dirty blue grass music, this is the way to go. the sound track to a hilarious but poignant film, this CD makes for some very enjoyable listening. The flowing theme throughout, the Soggy bottom boys' track "Man of Constant Sorrow" is a soulful and haunting melody that gets reworked in various ways and leads the listener through the story.
There are some quite comedic and quaintly innocent tracks too with some dark ones interspersed, such as "Oh Death" which is melancholy in the extreme. All in all, it creates the atmosphere of the desperate times faced by the principle characters and Clooney excels.
This is one of the best cds I have ever bought, you just can't stop singing along with it, I dare anyone to keep their feet still when the music starts. Brilliant singers make this cd a pleasure for both young and old, I had my one year old great-neice dancing along with it while my 85 year old father sang along to the songs he remembered from years ago like 'Big Rock Candy Mountain' and 'You Are My Sunshine'. I bought this cd because I enjoyed the film so much and I think this cd really does the film justice.
this cd has been on my list of most wanted for ages.....I have watched the movie many times with my 2 sons who both love it. Driving to school one day they both started harmonising "man of constant sorrow"....but did not know all the words and verses....so that evening I was playing and pausing the dvd trying to write down the lyrics for them when it suddenly dawned on me ...sound track album on ebay....Cool cd!!! . now they nsing it in the street while I am in the post office sendig my ebay items.....passers by love it.
I saw the Film and loved it. I was 'haunted' by the songs and music for months after. Eventually I looked the soundtrack up on its own website, listened to the music and read up about the artists. I decided I must have my very own copy! I found a soundtrack cd to bid for and won it. I love the cd, every track on it. It is what I imagine the US to have been like during the depression era and feel the music bears the souls of thousands of Americans during that dreadful time, the misery, pain and hope, and laughter! Personally I feel it is one of the best film soundtracks ever created with some all-time-great performers. Nineteen quality songs make it a very 'generous' cd too.
