A one-idea comedy (two on-the-run crooks pretending to be nuns) that still manages to deliver a fair crop of laughs largely due to the chemistry between the two leads, Eric (Monty Python) Idle and Robbie Coltrane. One for a wet Sunday afternoon.

Good film, not great DVD authoring

A great film, but the DVD authoring is lacking in any extras or style. Pretty much a start up and play situation, which is fine if you only want the film and nothing else.

  Fun With Nuns
Review created: 06/10/08

Hilarious and classic British comedy, which sees Eric Idle of Monty Python fame and the excellent Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane cast as two bank robbers attempting to escape their criminal life, upsetting both their own psychotic gangster boss and a bunch of machete-wielding Triads in the process. Stumbling off the street into a convent of nuns, they don habits and take refuge disguised as sisters.

Soundtrack features classic 80s percussion and synth-brass workout "The Race" by Yello.

  You call THIS going straight!
Review created: 17/06/07

Charlie and Brian are old school henchmen for a new breed of Mob Boss. But, tired of the guns and bloodshed of the modern crime game, they decide to run from they current crime-boss employer.
When a hit on a Triad gang goes wrong, the pair steal two cases of money and make a run for it. Unfortunately their only hidning place is the local nunnery!

A good British film that is easily forgotten when compared to similar capers, like A Wish Called Wanda and Clockwise, but this is a pretty good comic film. Some nice spins on slapstick and farce, combined with a simple, but satisfying plotline. The DVD can be picked up quite cheaply on eBay, so I would recommend it for your collection, without fail.

Brilliant romp with Robbie Coltrane and Eric Idle. Thoroughly enjoyable and brilliant chemistry between the two. Definitely one to watch again and again.
