Every now and then a product comes along that promises to revolutionise the market.
The N95 is such a beast, combining satellite navigation, a cutting-edge 5-megapixel camera, a media player and PDA functions in a handset that somehow isn't the size of a brick.
Nokia knows how to put a phone together. Pick up the N95 and you simply won't believe that so much technology has been squeezed into such a light, palm-friendly device.
Nokia has embraced a two-way sliding design that lets you push the screen up and let your fingers roam over a nicely textured keypad, or slide it down to reveal a fashionably touch-sensitive suite of media-player controls.

I am sure you've read loads of reviews about this phone so in this guide let me point out some things that could annoy you and some things which have been missed out by other reviews.
I got my N95 on Vodafone and immediately upgraded the firmware (on how to de-brand your N95 and update your firmware just see my other guides).
I've now had the phone for just over one month and can say the following about it's components:
-The shell of the N95 feels flimsy and the plastic is not of very high quality, compared to for example the Samsung phones like the D600. I have dropped the D600 many times from about 1.5 meters height onto the pavement without consequences. But if you drop the N95 from that height be prepared to buy a new one!
-The screen: It is nice and bright, with high 320x240 resolution but again it does not have a "hard" glass or plastic coating, but the N95 screen is rather more like a notebook display in terms of its make, ie it will give in when you press on it.
-The keylock feature on the N95 can be influenced by magnetism such as phone pouches/cases that you clip onto your belt which use a sheet of magnets for the pouch flap sometimes. This means that when you're putting the phone back into the pouch the phone will automatically "unlock" its keys (as you've brushed past the pouch flap), but upon closure of the pouch it will "re-lock" the keys as the flap now is closed and yet again close to the phone.
-GPS: I live in London and no matter what kind of weather there is outside it always takes around 2 minutes for the GPS to fix my position
-GPS 2: Both the software AND the maps for this are completely free from Nokia!
While you are using your GPS device you do not in any way have to be
connected to the internet or to a network or anything like that. In fact
you can use the GPS in "offline" mode if you wish.
Use the software "MAPLOADER" from the website www.smart2go.com
There are currently maps for more than 150 countries online!
-While the N95 does have wireless Lan, the internet browsing is somewhat cumbersome as I've experienced that it takes several tries to even load a page after clicking on a link. And that's with the new firmware.
-Upgrade your firmware! The camera takes much better pictures and the menu is somewhat faster this way. For a guide on how to upgrade your firmware if you have a branded phone see my other guides.
-The battery life is not as bad as people put it. With average usage including using your camera and maybe the GPS once, you can go 2 days without having to charge it. But definitely not more than 2 days. By the way, the new nokia N95 battery charger is about the most brittle thing I've ever seen. Again, not very high quality.

Top dog and boneThis is the third N95 in our household and we are all very pleased with them. Ironically the only one that has given a problem is the only new one, mine! However, this was changed promptly by the supplier. We all use our phones in different ways and I must say that the reports that I have read elsewhere about poor battery life are rubbish. If you charge properly and don't have unrealistic expectations then you wont be disappointed. You cant expect to listen to music all day, send 50 texts, take umpteen photos, surf the net and have the battery last all week!
It's a great phone with loads of technology and the quality is what you what you would expect from a high end Nokia.

IT in Cyprus is both expensive and somewhat dated in comparison with UK. The Nokia N95,which must come very close to being the best phone on the market, was therefore the best present I could buy for a very good friend there. The phone lives up to all of its expectations and the 8GB memory and 5 mega pixel camera has to be used and seen to be believed - the telephone application becomes a minor part of this piece of wizardry!

Nokia N95 8gb Mobile phone
) Well I call it a mobile phone but it is more of a media center and fantastic camera all in one!! Not only does it have excellent duel built-in speakers but also a standard ear-phone jack for normal headphones to listen to superb quality music or even watch films you download onto it. I have taken some very sharp photos on the 5 mega-pixel camera and some great close-up pictures of tiny insects (dont ask why... but as you can, I did)! In all I think it is a great phone... and MP3/4 player... and camera!

The camera/video is superb.. The phone is worth getting, just for this feature.. how many times have you gone out, and left your decent camera at home?.. with this phone, you never do..
The sliding screen, and all the buttons feel quality, and built to last. The keypad can be fiddly for sausage fingers, but you get used to it..
I have not got the internet working yet.. but would like to (will update review when I do)..
and on top of all this, it is a mobile phone!
To be honest, I will never hardly use half the systems on this..
Serious concerns about the battery though.. to begin with it lasted almost a week, now, just a month later, it lasts two days!
Update Oct 2008 - I reckon I must have just used the phone more than I thought during the period it did not last long.. battery life is back to being brilliant, lasting almost a whole week again with occasional use!

my partners silver n95 broke last week so i thought id buy him the next one up..this phone is so much better..slicker, bigger memory, AND ITS GOT THE SPIDERMAN 3 MOVIE on it!!!!well worth the money..they re still expensive in the shops so ur best to find a geniune ebayer to buy one off..if you like gadgets this is for u..

love the touch screen facility, the camera is second to none, i thought texting would have been abit annoying, the keypad setting isn't the best, i prefer to use the keyboard, and the handwritting facility is a nifty we add on. From what i have found battery life is OK, nothing to the sony ericsson or nokia, but its an improvement for LG as i had the Chocolate and it was an awful fone.
All in all, Great phone, possibily better than the iPhone!!

After receiving this mobile phone i have notice that it is different. only half of the software is on it, there is no GPRS for internet, the camera is very slow and the menu looks horrible. i have checked with nokia and reviewed this with them and they have told me it is fake. BEWARE!!!!!!
