hiya thanks for looking at my review ive only got 3500 charcters so ill have to keep it short.

ive owned the n73 for 6 months now and i thought i should tell anyone looking for a new phone how good it is.

first let me start by telling you that when the first phone was released it had some software issues was slow at sending texts kept crashing etc however the phone is now over a year old and nokia technicians have had time to sort the software out--this is easily avalible free over the net via download and is very easy to do all you do is connect your n73 via usb download a program from nokia and run it 30 mins later you have a fully updated phone.just check the nokia website out.if you read alot of reviews out there please remember that they may have had the old software installed hence they may have had problems and been anoyyed about the phone
i have the latest software installed form the nokia website and to be honest with you this phone rocks

good things about the phone
great camera 3.2 megapixel with auto focus and flash
symbian operating system
sat nav compatible works great with tomtom 6
fast bluetooth version 2
big screen with bright vibrant colours
great battery life
very well built nice and sturdy feels good in your hands
very loud speakers for music and handsfree
expandable memory up to 2gb
much faster then my old n70
great games and applications
can play movies
great video camera mp4 quality
easy to sync and i mean very easy
can play megadrive games snes games and gameboy games :-)
has a stanby mode to save battery phone is still live just saves power :-)
very stylish

things that are not so good
headphones supplied
no wifi

ha ha thats about it seriously the only thing i can fault this phone on is the headphones its supplied with
but you can buy a adapter so you can use any headphones just check out ebay and i use my cx 300s with it and the sound is awesome :-)
when i say the battery life is good i use the mp3 player for about 4-5 hours at work and when i finish work after a few calls and a few games to the battery has used 1 bar at the max with the built in satndby mode this phone dosent suck up the juice at all just make sure you dont have bluetooth on every min of the day and turn packet data to recieve when needed :-)

i used to own the n70 please see my other review , its a great phone too i really like it but nokia have tweaked the n73 to make it what the n70 should have been in the 1st place
you see nokia arent stupid they could have released this as the n70 but they take it in stages with slight but signifficant changes to each handset in their range ie this n73 has no wifi but then they released the n80 which does have wifi but has no autofocus on the camera.very clever marketing from nokia

would i recomend this phone
yes very much so when they 1st come out they were quite exspensive but as time has gone on they have come down in price and as people renew their contracts youll find them popping up all over ebay and amazon
ive bought a few phones off ebay and they have all worked ok so dont worry about that just do your research on the seller etc

i truly love this phone i have a seperate mp3 player a seperate camera etc but when i dont wanna carry them all about then the nokia n73 does all of their jobs and it does them very well indeed a recomended purchase :-)

if you found this helpfull then please vote for it

thanks happy ebaying

first of all im a bit of a phone person, had many phones and got bored really quick of them and ended up getting new one's all the time..........till the n73 came out .......what a phone.
I love IT so much your can do with this phone sat nav, music player,radio,3D speakers, full internet, and ive down loaded pocket divx and i can watch full dvds on my phone( down loaded to 1gig memory card)which i got 3 full dvds on.
Nokia are all ways adding things to the down load function on the phone at the touch of a button you can add extra stuff to your phone e.g firewall, anti virus, sms accel ( send messages in super quick time)
i even connect my phone to my computer and use it as a modem it nearly as quick as broaddband and not forgetting the camrea 3.2 meg which you have an option to take your pictures in different sizes so when it comes to printing them they print in 10x8 or 7x5 or 6x4 or just mms size.
and now there is nokia plus were you can watch love film ,bandwago ,NME,NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC and so on look i could go on for ever about this phone
JUST GO AND GET ONE YOU WILL LOVE IT

  Nokia n95... AMAZING!
Review created: 12/04/07

The phone is everything in one. It has the best camera quality i've ever seen in a phone, and the night time pictures, even in pure darkness look like they were taken in daylight.

The maps (GPS) application and functions are excellent, no problems with it whatsoever

The sound quality from the stereo speakers is phenominal, very loud, and this allows for the built in loudspeaker to act as a great hands-free kit, no need to go an buy one!

Nokia are billing this as : 'what computers have become'
for me, thats right on the money. it does everything, its small.. (it really is small.. smaller than my N70 and does 10X more!) and its also light!

Nokia simply keep surpassing themselves by constantly producing better phones than there rivals. The N73 is awesome. Its extremely easy to use, has great functions and has a large screen to enjoy your pictures. The 3.2 MP camera is clear and of great quality.

As its a Nokia phones it is obviously easier to use than all its competitors.

The Sat Nav is fantastic. A great function to have on a phone especially for someone like me who always gets lost !!!

I have no faults to report or no issues with this phone. It is simply a must have !!!!

Nokia N73 Mobile Phone, if yours is branded u must read
Review created: 18/01/08
by:
10 of 10 people found this review helpful.

T-Mobile are currently doing the N73 very cheap on pay as you go but I hear you saying I don't want to be on T Mobile, Well don't worry this phone is unlockable and to add iceing to the cake it is also unbrandable, see my eBay shop for guides and unlock codes! Anyway back to the review;

The Nokia N73 updates the Nokia N70 3G SmartPhone. The N73 is a lot thinner than the N70 and weighs less as well, making it one of the lightest smartphones. It has a conventional boxy design with a regular keypad very similar to the N70. The keys are a little too small for large fingers to use easily and the joystick can be fiddly too. The display is very large with an amazing 240 x 320 pixel resolution and 262,000 colours. Its one of the best displays on any smartphone.

As well as upgrading the display, Nokia have upgraded the camera in a big way. The N73 sports a 3.2 megapixel camera using the same Carl Zeiss optics and CMOS sensor that made the N70 a powerful imaging device. The camera has a built-in flash, 20x digital zoom, macro mode, plenty of optional settings and a photo editor. It doesn't perform quite as well as the best camera phones from Sony Ericsson, but it significantly outperforms its predecessor and is a very good camera. Video recording is at CIF resolution with a framerate of 15 frames per second. Usefully video can be recorded in either 3GP or MPEG4 formats. A video editor application is included. There's a second inward-facing VGA camera for making video calls.

The N73 is also a great music device. It has a music player that supports a wide range of formats including MP3, WMA and AAC, and also an FM radio with Visual Radio functionality to display information about the artist and track playing. The music player supports playlists and an equalizer lets you adjust sound quality. Sound is through dual stereo speakers or using the stereo headset supplied.

The internal memory has been expanded to 42 Mbytes and there's support for a hot-swapable miniSD card. This will provide bags of room for storing music tracks and videos, making full use of the possibility to record videos of up to 90 minutes in length. Connectivity is via Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 and infrared. Battery life is very good for a 3G phone.

As always with Series 60 phones, the complexity of the software means that they are usually slow to start, slow when browsing menus, and can be prone to crash. Read through our user reviews below and you will see that the number one complaint about the N73 is the problem of the phone freezing or shutting down, often when receiving a call. This is quite a common complaint in fact, and for this reason we have deducted two stars from our overall rating. A phone that doesn't work is not acceptable, however good it may be when it actually works! You might consider the Sony Ericsson K800i as an alternative, although it's not a Symbian phone. If you want a Nokia, but have been put off the Nseries by this review, you might like the Nokia 6300, which has most of the functionality of the N73, but isn't a Smartphone and is much more reliable and user friendly.

My thoughts on the Nokia N73
Review created: 01/06/07
10 of 14 people found this review helpful.

Being a Sony Ericcson devotee this was my first Nokia in a few years. My first impressions were that its an okay phone, nothing special. But then I started playing around with it and then I realised it is special! It is so much more than just a phone... It has so many useful features.

Once I got my head round the symbian operating system I realised I can do so much with the N73. There are so many websites out there catering for Symbian software. My best find has to be tomtom. I can now ditch my chunky sat nav and use my N73 to do exactly the same thing, and it does it pretty damn well too!

The nokia software than came with the phone is excellent too. It allows you to back up your phone, including your memory card. It does it all seemlessly, allowing you to restore easily too. It will also search to see if a new firmware is available adding new functions/ features and fixing any known bugs with the phone.

I can't really fault the phone, it does everything I expected plus a whole lot more. The 3.2MP Camera is very capable of taking every day photos even night photos came out okay.

All in all I would highly recommend this phone. Being a Nokia it is well built and easy to use. 10/10

  Nokia N73 3G Smartphone
Review created: 08/10/07
by:
9 of 10 people found this review helpful.

You really can't accuse Nokia of failing to differentiate their range of S60 3rd Edition devices - each one has been wildly different from the rest, at least to the trained eye. The N73 has been widely touted as a natural successor to the best-selling S60 2nd Edition-powered N70, but that's only really half the story.

The truth about the N73 is that it's all about the camera. And what a camera, 3.2 megapixels with greater clarity, far less compression artifacts and better colour than even Nokia's own flagship N93. Where the N70 was perhaps 70% smartphone and 30% camera, the Nokia N73 is a true half and half. With such a strong imaging focus, it won't appeal to the 'why do I need a camera in my phone' brigade, but I doubt Nokia will mind.

Keyboard - Having used the N73 daily for over a month now, I find the keypad design very good - the raised edges to the keys make it very easy to use the keypad without looking, especially useful when typing text messages quickly. Compared to the N70, the N73's keypad is a delight to use - if like me your fingers always used to slip off the keys on the N70, or make the keys rock in an annoying fashion, you won't have any such problems with the N73.

The joystick is, in my opinion, also very easy to use. Occasionally it could be said to be too sensitive, but this is something which you quickly get used to. After a couple of weeks use, I very rarely mis-navigate when using the joystick.

Build quality - I've heard many stories of people finding the N73 a bit "plasticky" - this seems to be very much on a phone by phone basis as my N73 has not exhibitied any such problems, If squeezed very hard just above the camera shutter button, then yes, the phone does creak slightly, but no more than my N70 did when squeezed in a similar fashion.

Usage and memory leaks - The current firmware has a few problems with memory leaks, and displays a couple of annoying, but not critical, bugs. It is physically impossible to exit the Gallery application, although I disagree with Steve and believe this to be more of a bug than by design. Camera, Logs and Calendar also exhibit the same behaviour at various times. These applications not exiting result in the amount of free RAM dropping significantly when in general use, to the extent that with only 7BM free RAM, when trying to zoom a picture in Gallery, a "Not enough memory" error is received.

Camera - While the camera is much better than the N70, the focus on the N73 is a little on the "soft" side for my liking - a condition which seems common amongst Nokia phones. While the camera is arguably not as good as the one on the Sony Ericsson K800i, the N73 is definitely the best camera of the current Nokia phones.

Applications - Obviously there aren't yet as many S60 3rd Edition applications available as there are for the older N70, but this situation is rapidly changing. However, one small problem exists when using Java applications - a lot of Java apps are not correctly re-sized (zoomed) to fit the entire screen estate of the N73 (wasn't screen scaling meant to be a feature of S60 3rd Edition for older Java apps?), sometimes resulting in a confusing mess being drawn on screen as the application attempts to use just a subset of the N73's screen.

I had a Sony Ericsson K800 before this phone and I wanted to run Sat Nav so I bought this phone because it runs a symbian operating system.
It is a great phone packed full of features and runs top branded sat nav software just like any stand alone sat nav.
It has a great camera(3.2) on the phone and the lens cover doesnt stick out like the K800
Bad points
The phone I got was a version 3 symbian phone so software for ver1 and ver2 doesnt appear to work. The alarm on the phone if you use your phone for this purpose (lets face it not many people use a phone to phone people nowadays) is not very good and it has to be set everyday unlike Sony Ericsson but good news, just download an alarm program and hey presto, it is just like a sony ericsson :)

  My experiences with the N73

I bought my N73 back in July 2006, after almost chucking my 6670 in the bin (I hated that handset with a passion.)

I was in the Vodafone shop trying to decide which handset to go for when a courier dragged a big box in through the door. The salesman said "let's see what we've got in here." Eventually he pulled out the N73 and I said "That's the one for me." We struck the deal and I walked out with a shiny new N73.
I took great pleasure in going to all the mobile phone shops and asking if they had cases. "For what model, sir?" was the question. "This one" was the reply. Only for the salesperson to shout out to their colleagues "Hey guys, he's got one of the new N73's!!" That was the first bit of fun I had with the N73.

However, the fun turned a little sour when over the weeks all the teething problems and gremlins showed up. Constant self restarts, crashing, memory leakage problems and speed were big issues. Eventually I phoned the Nokia Service Center and they told me there was a firmware update in the pipeline. 3 weeks later I took it in for the update only to be informed it has to go back to Nokia because it died half way through the update. I was gutted.

When it eventually came back things had improved a lot, although it still crashed, restarted and ran out of memory, but not as often. Earlier this year I took it for it's second update. This one trounced all the problems and I started to enjoy using the phone again, although there were still a few minor bugs.

2 weeks ago I updated it myself to firmware V4.0726.2.0.1 via the Nokia Software Updater and my PC. I was gobsmacked to find that Nokia had taken the best bits of all 3 N73 versions (N73, N73ME & N73IE) and rolled them into one big update. The update included the N73 multimedia features (Full use of the multimedia key), the N73ME music player and improved sound handling (Ringtones and music sound excellent now) and the browsing features of the N73IE (Faster browsing and over the air firmware updates.) There's also been some improvements in the camera dept as well and support for Bluetooth stereo headsets (A2DP).

It's been a mixed journey with the handset. We've had our fall-outs. Like everything new, teething troubles will come as standard, but in the end I'm glad I persivered with it. I'm really impressed with all the software and apps that are now becoming available. I too find texting a little hard with one hand on the small keypad, which is one of the reasons I gave it a "good" rating. I also find myself accidentally hitting the gallery button on the side when plugging in the data cable. The camera cover needs to be looked after (regularly cleaned out with a blast from a can of dry air and the contacts cleaned) otherwise it fails to activate the camera when you slide it over, the POP port needs a quick clean once in a while too, come to think of it.
Images from the main cam are very good, but still not on a par with a dedicated digi-cam. Standby time is excellent, thanks to the sleep/power save mode (Not even the N95 can touch 15 days stand-by.)

All in all I think it's a great little handset (now that all the major gremlins have been excorsised.) Anyone who's used to a basic handset will find it very daunting and confusing, because it needs time to get to know all the features and options. It's described as a "Handheld Multmedia Computer" (a fairly accurate description, I think.)

  Nokia N73

On the whole, a very good phone. Having recieved various input about it from many of my friends and internet reveiws, I decided to give the N73 a go, needing an upgrade from my previous Nokia. And I have to say, I werent dissapointed at all! The phone offers many functions and applications, I personally love the fact that it's almost like a computer software, being able to upgrade and update many of its programmes. Simple and practical too! My friend installed the TomTom software for me and I purchased the GPS device (+£50/60) and it works with no problems! I took the phone to Scotland and many other places and it gave no problems, the camera is excellent, in fact one of the best I've seen! The quality is so amazing, 3.2 megapixel with flash and many other things, I'm most impressed with the editing software where you can edit, crop, even record over images and videos. Also the Office application where you can view Adobe PDF documents, word and Powerpoint presentations/slideshows. The front camera however, is of lower quality but still good at what it does. The phone is a breeze to use, aesthetically pleasing and offering so many features you got no time to complain, I aint even administered alot of its features yet! The only complaint I have about this item is that it aint froze on me (hopefully it never will) but it does take a little while to open some applications such as the clock and gallery (maybe I'm too impatient or got too many things on the phone?) and ergonomically, when texting, the phone's buttons are loud when being pressed constantly and so hard. Apart from that though, a very good phone with so much to offer and I'd recommend it to others, but with all the other new phones coming out (N93 etc) maybe you'd want to look around first?? Good value for money though!

  Nokia N73
Review created: 06/08/07(updated 27/08/07)
by:
6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

The Nokia N73 is superb and would be ideal as it has all of the latest features (with the exception of a 5 MegaPixel camera which the Nokia N95 offers) all in one cluster! I purchased my N73 handset brand new, boxed on Vodafone for £110; I would consider this as the best phone I've purchased for its quality and value. (Bearing in mind it sells for over £150 in some places!)

A lot of people tend to find it a difficult choice to pick between the Nokia N73 and its major rival; the Sony Ericsson K800i. Well I can assure you that if you decide to go with the Nokia N73, you would definately get every single penny's worth from this handset. Considering the fact that both these phones offer the 3.2Megapixel camera, it would obviously seem like a difficult choice. However, having said this, what people realise is that the K800i consists of many technical faults. There are many problems and errors that the K800i encounters, many faults have been discovered by users which include software problems and a sudden shutdown for unknown reasons. Why have a phone that is unreliable that will let you down when you can be a proud owner of a perfect functioning Nokia N73? These are the reasons why I highly recommend this brilliant phone:

The handset is just at the perfect size, whereby anyone can hold it without fear of the phone being too big or too small, too heavy or too light! (Many people are very conscious about their phones being "bricks" these days!!) The appearance is very unique, it is clearly aimed for this phone to take after the Nokia N70 where the design has been obviously improved upon; thus an attractive looking N73 handset compared with the classic N70.

I feel that the functions are very easy to find and use, in some cases it can be very annoying to be unfamiliar with a new phone an its functions because everything just seems too complicated. However, with this handset, I can guarantee that this is definately user-friendly. Everything is so simple and easy to find.

I would like to also compliment the sound quality that the N73 has to offer. Considering the fact that it has two built-in-speakers, (top & bottom of the phone) you'd expect something spectacular; and spectacular it most certainly is. It is so loud that you can actually feel the music that is being played, whats worse than having a new phone and the music/sound quality isn't touching any nerves in your body? You need to feel the vibe, and of course; you most certainly can with the N73. Recently I have upgraded my N73 to the music edition one whereby the sound/music quality is unexplainable, it is of the highest standard, though I will leave you to find out more for yourselves!!!

Finally, what I find most useful about this phone is that it's almost like a personal organiser. Everything that you could want in a phone, the N73 offers. Internet, camera, video recording, bluetooth and the list goes on.. It is so professional and I personally think can be right up at the top with the best phones ever to be on the market.

Thanks for reading this review. I had decided to actually use some time in order to express how happy I am with this handset, I wouldn't have done so if the phone wasn't up to standards and high expectations.

One of the best phones out in 2007

Unless you spend over 500 pounds on something like an N95 - this is THE phone you will want if you are anything from a day to day user who wants to take snaps to the full blown internet, email and mobile game user. It runs the Symbian, that is THE best mobile phone OS, bar none. It's the best and closest you will get to an XDA or PDA without selling your right arm.

It is feature rich, good quality, nice looking and definitely worth a serious think about.

All this coming from a hardened Nokia hater over the last few years... They have turned me around with the N series phone.

  Nokia N73 - absolutely useless
Review created: 27/10/07
5 of 7 people found this review helpful.

I have had my Nokia N73 for about 6 months now, and although I loved it at first, I now hate it with a passion for two reasons:-

1. It constantly goes slow (software problem?) and I frequently have to delete all my texts and pictures for it to work ok (and when I say ok, I mean for it to consider co-operating after 5 minutes instead of 10)

2. The central navigation button has broken, making the phone pretty much useless - although you can buy a replacement button (it took me ages to find one) - it is way too expensive (in the region of £10 for a tiny little button), and it did not fix my problem because mine actually broke, it didn't fall off. I find it extremely difficult to use the phone at all now because the central navigation button is pretty much vital for everything.

I upgraded my N80 with the N73 because my N80 had terrible software problems causing the phone to freeze constantly, and I will not be getting any other Nokia N series phone (I'm not ruling Nokia out completely because I do actually like Nokia).

For anyone considering getting a Nokia N series phone, I seriously recommend getting insurance (my broken button probably could have been fixed, or phone replaced if I had insured it), and the software issues for both the N73 and N80 could probably be sorted (if i knew how to or where).

Thanks for reading

The seller gives negative feedback on the next day after transaction without trying to contact a buyer. Very rough. The total lack of culture and understanding.

Of course I willnwever buy from him and my advise to avoid dealing with such sellers. Very dissapointed.

Nokia N73, PC Suite and how to defrag...
Review created: 08/03/08(updated 28/05/08)

I have the Nokia N73 from O2, it’s compact, and slightly chunky; because of that it doesn't feel flimsy like some of the slimmer phones, this phone just feels very well made, the reason I say this is because I have dropped this phone in excess of 15 times and the only problem I have is a scuffed casing.

The menu system is still the best, Nokia are the easiest phones to navigate, the icons are clear and the menus are logical. There are a few times when I have been hunting for a particular item in a menu but overall I would give the menu system an 8.5/10

The camera is superb, and at 3meg the images are clear and sharp, the colour rendition is spot on too. As with all phone cameras the image fails badly in poor light and the flash whites out close things, one more thing I found great was, I very rarely get a blurred image, with or without flash. Once the image is taken, writing the highest res image takes about 3-4 seconds, that's a bit slow but hey it’s a phone not a camera.

Connectivity is easy with the latest Nokia suite (v6.85.14.1). The cable to attach the phone from the PC is a bit flaky, it connects 99% of the time, but sometimes if I put the phone down and knock the cable it drops the connection and I have to reconnect the cable to start the connection again. The options within the Nokia suite are great, installing programs, transferring music and images, sending txt and multimedia txt, email, backing up, contacts and file managing are all simple...

But I have gripes...

Gripe 1: I think the software should be able to automatically detect a message coming in and refresh the list accordingly when connected to the PC. Refreshing the list of messages is slow at approx 14 seconds. One should also have the option not to check for multimedia txt as this seems to slow the process down and is the major reason for the 14 seconds.

Gripe 2: Another flaw in the Nokia suite is the option to download images and what happens to the ones on the phone. Example: I have TOMTOM on my SD card, bear this in mind ok! I want to download some images, I can select to download them but if I choose to delete the images from the phone after downloading it will delete ALL images on the phone... That is bad, very bad. I had the shock of my life when I did this first time, why? Because it deleted the images from TOMTOM too, so, if you don't want to delete ALL your images you will have to go into 'File Manager' and manually delete them.

Gripe 3: This brings me to my third gripe with Nokia suite. I cannot view the images in Thumbnail view so I haven't a clue what I'm deleting without a lot of messing around. Why put a great camera on a great phone then give you software to download the great images 'that you cannot view' I don't know why they would omit such a feature but I see it as a major flaw in an otherwise great program.

Apart from those gripes I still like Nokia suite and the benefits far outweigh the disadvantages, but if they sorted my gripes, it would be much better.

A tip: Defragging a Nokia N73 is very easy: Connect the cable Choose the 'Mass Storage' Option Go to my computer, right click on the Nokia and choose properties, choose the tools tab and click on Defragment Now... after its finished defragging your phone will be a lot more lively.

Oh and making calls is very easy too, unfortunately I can’t do any more of a review due to the limited amount of characters.

The N73 is a great phone and can be bought brand new at a decent price, I got mine for £90 and am well happy with it. The camera is a 3.2mp and takes very good pictures both day and night as the flash is strong. the N73 has the added bonus of recording mp4 video which is fantastic quality compared to normal video recording you get on say the k800i etc. even sonys k850i doesnt record mp4 video and it is their top spec phone and costs around £200.

if you like nokias you will love the N73 it is better than some top spec phones out today that cost alot more.

After being with Sony Ericsson for so long I decided to go back to Nokia. This phone took some getting used to and I think it took me the best part of 5 hours just to find out just how to put the keypad lock on!!. You defiantely need perserverance at first, to get to know all the different menus and features. I have a tendancy to get bored with phones quickly but I think this will keep me amused for a while. Having said that, the features are fantastic but there seems to be an annoying problem with how slow the applications run and the amount of times the phones software crashes. Im personally fed up with it and have now got rid of it on ebay. Not a great welcome back from Nokia, but am not put off yet. May give the N95 a go instead. I would avoid this phone until the software problem is sorted out.

Nokia N73 mobile phone (can use sat nav)tomtom

hi, this is one of the best phones i have owned. the camera is awesome top quality with quility flash. 3.2mp with autofocus.
i have one and it sometimes restarts itself. probably a software problem on some phones. i have used sat nav and works fine in this phone. it has memory card slot for more memory. you can update the phone via usb. look at nokia website. By installing updated software some faults will be removed.

good thing about the phone is that it has a big screen and a has a loud speaker for listening to music. its s symbian phone and its faster than some other phones such as n70

This is one of my favourite phones because of its camera. tomtom can be used on this, all you need is a gps receiver to get connected and start using.
i would recommned this phone because it has mostly what you need in a phone but no wifi. It was expensive when released but has gone a little cheaper now.

1 bad thing about the phone is that calls somtime get disconnected and i dont know why
