Nokia 6500 Slide Mobile Phone

Sorry folks but I am only a Mr Average user who this phone is not really designed for. However, only really had the Motorolla Flip type phones in the past like the Razr etc.
I thought, to hell with it, Im going to own the latest flashiest phone in the market place. Well how do I find it. Its a great little package, with just about all that most people will want from a phone, young or old alike. The keys are nicely placed, even for those ham fisted oldies like myself! Texting, once I found it! Was relitively easy, although initially locating Send a Message was a little awkward if hidden. Hey, remember that Ive been used to the Motorolla Set Up and not Mr Nokia's latest. From memory, its bassically the same as the dear old 2810 range of phones! Nothing changed other than you now get loads of extras and games.
Incidently, the camera on this is second to none. Im a bit of a camera Buff and this little package meets my needs superbly with quality and clarity that is not in some cameras costing the same as this phone/camera package. On a negative point, it would have been handy to have taken the memory card out and taken it to Mr Tesco or similar,who would kindly download it and produce and convert the memory into those lovely items known as photo's! This may still be possible, because you can download the memory to your PC. Just not sure if it can be done directly at Mr Tesco's place? The Flash is brilliant too and left on automatic, it decides if the Flash is needed or not, thus saving your dear old battery.
The music and sounds are amazing for such a small package, the clarity and bass are just fine for my rusty old ears. This is well capable of playing the local Hip-Hop bands stuff through to Pink Floyds latest remix. How they put such a superb package together is beyond me.
The Phone seems to run on fresh air! The Battery on the 6500 Slide seems to carry on for ever, without a charge. Never, have I known a phone work so hard in testing and getting used too without deminishing the battery. What are Nokia making them from? I expect this to easily last me a week between charges, whereas my dear old Motorola would be needing intensive care after only two or three days average use! Oh, it also can be fully charged after only one and a half hours pluged into our glorious 230v system.
There is so much on this phone, I have had it three days now, and I still have not found my way around it! There is so much on it that it will take me at least one or two months to get to grips with it all. If thats your 'Bag' then this is the phone for you. Quality abounds, from its stainless steel case, through to its positive feeling buttons. It is really the phone for the future thats ready today. Perhaps its a bit too over the top for the likes of me, Old Fart who has just passed the 50 mark! But for those gadget concious go getters out there who want to make a statement, then this phone not only has it all, it all works superbly too.

This is an awesome phone. It features loads of stuff and goes hand in hand with any business person owning a laptop, who is moving about all the time. Internet capability and bluetooth are a must in today's life. These are included in the phone. The tv out function is very cool and can shift those 'boring' presentations into 'interesting' ones. The 3.2 Mp camera is not that surprising, but with the double flash, you are assured that pictures are taken perfectly, even in very low light conditions (at close range). Its shape, weight and size makes it very comfortable to hold too.

However, the only feature it should include is GPS.

Overall, this is a great phone!!

Phone's condition is excellent and working so far so good. But the delivery was a little late but it doesnt matter as the phone was excellent as desribed.

wish i did my research first,these phones have had various faults.mine did not send text messages,i have had this resolved by downloading new software.i now have further problem,the phone does not read the memory card i have had it checked out the problem is with the phone not the card.also these phones cannot be unlocked easily,i had to send it to manchester.i will never buy a second hand phone again,i know these problems are common with this phone as my friends have had similar faults.

I bought this mobile phone because i have always been a Nokia fan, simlpy because these make of mobiles are pretty simple to use and very user friendly. I chose this modle because i wanted an upgrade from my previouse mobile - Nokia 6234, i found that this phone was in a good price range compared with the N95, the 6500 slide, i found was much more compact and not as bulky as the N95. Althought the 6500 slide might be down on software items compared to more pricey mobiles on the market it is still a very good all-round phone to have. Sound quality and the 3.5 megapixel camera (with flash) are also good. Nokia have always produce a good camera with there phones, but just lacked having a flash with it, which always helps if you are wanting a good picture at night or in a club with low lighting, you only every got this feature with higher spec phone from Nokia, but with the 6500 slide, i think they have made a good all-round phone

the phone was recieving bad rececption if any and i was nt told it was fauhty i thought it was the sim but it was nt. it was the phone and its been sent to nokia form car phone ware house to be looked at because he would nt give me my money back

What a cracking little phone. Unlike a few of Nokia's latest offerings, the 6500 slide (and come to mention it, the 6500 classic as well) feels solid, well made, and reassuringly weighty in your pocket. The menu is nice and simple to use and, even if you've never used a Nokia before, only takes a couple of minutes to get totally used to. The slide mechanism is nice and smooth (much better than, say, the N95 8gb but maybe not quite so smooth as some of Samsung's offerings).

Feature-wise, the 6500 slide does everything you would expect from a phone nowadays, and does it well. The camera is very good, although I've found that it does take a while to process a picture once you've pressed the shutter button. The screen is lovely and bright and clear. Battery life is excellent. Web browsing (I'm currently with 3) is easy enough. The phone does lack wi-fi, but then it's not something I'd expect from a phone such as this so it isn't really an issue.

All in all, if you want a phone that does EVERYTHING, then you're looking in the wrong place, and you should probably try one of Nokia's more expensive handsets. But if you want a phone that does what it does, and does it very well, then you can't go far wrong. The metal housing and solid, quality feel give the impression that this handset could last a long while and I hope that it does.

couple month i was looking for this phone, it's so good looking, especially the metallic cover, so mannish or manlike. Like to take photos, so 3.2 Mgpix are just the right thing that the phone has. All Nokia phones are very resistant for breakdowns, so it is the best phone for person , who likes the active way of life. Nice looking, nice pistures, strong enough to go everywhere with me - thats the phone i like...

Read all reviews and bought phone with some trepidation. Have had phone for 4 weeks now and love it. So far so good. Hope this does not tempt fate!!. I get approx 4 days from battery even as a textaholic! Camera excellent quality. Lay out easy to use, good old Nokia. I would reccomend it.

The Nokia 6500 Slide is a slide design 3G phone with an excellent 3.2 megapixel camera and a large hi-res LCD display. It offers video calling, and MP3 player, an FM radio, expandable memory and Bluetooth. On the negative side it's heavier than average (which gives it a substantial and robust feel) and its battery life could be better. However personally I think that taking everything into account it is one of the best phones that Nokia have released.

The phone looks and feels really good, smooth slide, good quality screen and graphics. Its easy to find your way round, the bluetooth capability is excellent as I've got bluetooth function in my car & it makes communication in the car so easy while staying legal!
The one thing I don't like and its a big dislike is the absolute rubbish battery life, has to be charged every day and this is despite never using much else apart from calls text and bluetooth only when driving!
Come on nokia, there has to be something you can do about it, this a major let down on an otherwise excellent phone!!

Okay firstly I’d like to say that i have had this phone for about 4 months now, it’s a lovely phone to have but they brake easily.

There is almost no screen protection, my sister had hers for 6 days before she sat on it and cracked the screen, currently I am looking for a new keypad for mine as the number 2 button just fell off somehow and I’m not paying £30 for a new one like the shop want me to do.

Overall the phone is great to use, it looks nice too and i haven't had too many software problems with it yet either

the price is still very steep for what the phone can do there are only one or two upgrades from my previous phone (nokia 6280) and they are only really interface changes, worth having a play before you buy one of these is all I can recommend.

The phone has just about every item a phone could have, its like the swiss army knife of phones. That said though it could be over loaded with features for most people.
Battery life good, nice clear screen and the features can be customised to your preferences.
The metal case does dent easier than a plastic case phone which is a pity and the chrome will chip on navigation button if thrown around.
Because the keypad is on the bottom of the phone it feels top heavy when dialing, a small point maybe.

Looks very chique. Feels very high quality. Very easy to use and so far very reliable.

After using Windows mobile based phones recently I was completely fed up with how slow they were to switch on/off, overly complex to use, sometimes freezing / unreliable etc. This phone is like a breath of fresh air. It still has all the features you need but is accessed in an intuitive and easy to use manner. I linked it with my Outlook very easily to synchronise calendar entries using Nokia's excellent PC suite. The phone also has a high quality camera. I haven't used to radio feature yet so I cannot comment.

I'm not a mobile guru and generally they don't really excite me, but I think overall this phone is the best phone I have every owned.

the nokia 6500 mobile phone is a great phone and i managed to get it at a good price. didnt need to bid on it jst make an offer which was much easier.

After reading countless reviews about how terrible this phone was, I ignored them and bought it anyway. Although I have only had the phone for 2 weeks, all the things I read in the reviews are now starting to come true. So heres my shortlist of things wrong with this phone:
1) The signal reception is appalling, which is generally not true of Nokia phones. The signal fades in and out, making long conversations almost impossible. I think part of this problem is due the aerial position, and the bottom of the main body of the phone. As you're talking, your hand covers this antenna, making signal reception very poor. Awkward positioning of the hand helps to correct this problem.
2) The software programmed in to the phone freezes, crashes and resets itself all the time, when it feels like it. Silent doesn't always mean silent. It keeps resorting back to the annoying Nokia tone, and resets the home screen all the time. Sometimes contacts just disappear, and messages seemed to have been moved to folders which I didn't even know existed.
3) The battery life is really really poor compared to some of the other phones out there. On what I call an "average" days use, texting and calling, I find I have to charge it every night. I have tried it with another battery, and used the power save setting, and still no change.

But it isn't all bad. The software side of things lets this phone down badly, but there are several good points. The weight feels good in the hand due the metal casing design. It feels sturdy and fits well in the palm of the hand. The camera is only 3.2 Mega pixels but is still of good quality, thanks to a fantastic colour screen, with good clarity, colour and backlight.

For what this phone lacks in brains, it makes up for in body!
