Nokia 6310i Mobile Phone - an exceptional business tool

Quite honestly this is still one of the best phones around. Don't take my word for it; ask anyone who has had one; almost all wish they'd never replaced it. They are a classic - I have had them in business since they came out in about 2001 & they have travelled all over the world with me, never failing to find a local network long before I've got off the plane - and it synchronises well with my laptop.
The Nokia 6310i model has a better backlit screen versus the first generation 6310 - an improvement as it was previously hard to read in poor light. The 6310i also adds Triband, enabling it to operate worldwide. This feature, combined with the Java applications, famous user-friendliness and features like High Speed Data, voice dialling and voice recorder still make the Nokia 6310i an excellent business choice.
Nokia certainly hit the spot when they asked business customers what they wanted, all the connectivity of the day, along with a good memory capacity, exceptional battery life, coupled with all manner of data, appended in a very intuitive menu driven way. This phone has the best interface of any I've used, the menus load instantly, everything is fast and responsive. The Java capability means that you can download applications like personal assistants, travel and information tools just as easily as downloading ring tones.
The speaker is excellent & the ergonomics are spot on - most new phones are smaller and lighter but this means they are not as comfortable to use, are less robust, easier to lose, and in my experience just not up to the job in terms of battery performance. I keep looking to buy a new phone but every time fail to find a phone that does the essentials (battery life, call quality, bluetooth, durability etc) as well - and has a comfortable size and shape with the right amount of weight. It really is that good. OK it has no colour screen, no camera, no MMS; but who uses those anyway!
These phones are also generally very robust. Obviously there are issues if you drop them down a flight of stairs etc - as it is possible to break the internal aerial or the screen itself! Moreover you can pick up these repair parts off ebay! You can even have an external aerial to improve reception from say a basement building; but this phone generally still has reception on many parts of the London Underground!
Moreover there remains good support on the Nokia website www.nokia.co.uk/A4222194. The only dissapointment is that Nokia has so far failed to provide an improvement on this in over 5 years - its all just gimmicks. The number of new models I have rejected because the battery life is tragic, the flip phone breaks, the buttons are too small even for a midget, the reception is non existent or the hands free car kit is abysmal etc is extraordinary. Moreover I know a great number of people in global business who are reverting to this phone because they are fed up with lack of reliability and poor battery life. At home or abroad this is the phone to have; the Li-Polymer battery lasts forever - I have a double battery pack which allows me to be without charge for weeks at a time.
Personally unless you are into fashion items, I would forget the rest as these phones offer exceptional value for money. If you are serious about business, rather than gimmicks such as wobbly cameras (which are poor versus a digital camera) or needlessly enjoy watching video on a squint size screen, then quite simply this is THE phone for you!
