The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, or The Tube as it's called, a mobile device for music that brings innovative new features to the mass market. Delivering on Nokia's vision to provide the best total music experience possible, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will be among the first devices to support Comes With Music, Nokia's groundbreaking service which offers one year of unlimited access to the entire Nokia Music Store catalogue.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic is a S60 5th Edition device with a resistive touch screen and tactile feedback. The device has variety of input methods: stylus, plectrum and finger touch support for text input and UI control (alphanumeric keypad, full and mini qwerty keyboard, handwriting recognition). Use the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic to connect to mobile broadband using WLAN or HSDPA (3.5G). Supported WCDMA frequencies depend on the region where the device is available. Find directions and locations with the integrated A-GPS and included maps.

When it comes to music phones, people all over the world want a device that is a great music experience - with more memory, loud and powerful speakers, easy synchronization - and must still work well as a mobile phone with direct access to important contacts and content. The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic delivers on all counts and allows consumers to access and share content.

Media Bar, Contacts Bar - putting people first
Taking advantage of touch screen technology, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic introduces the 'Media Bar', a handy drop down menu that provides direct access to music and entertainment, including favourite tracks, videos and photos. The Media Bar also offers a direct link to the web and to online sharing. Because the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic supports Flash content, individuals can surf the entire web, not just pieces of it. In addition, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic offers all the music essentials, including a graphic equalizer, 8GB memory for up to 6000 tracks and support for all main digital music formats, and a 3.5mm jack. Built-in surround sound stereo speakers offer the industry's most powerful sound.

Ensuring a seamless music experience, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic also provides easy access to browse and purchase tracks from the Nokia Music Store, where applicable, while the newly updated Nokia Music PC software allows for easy drag-and-drop transfer of songs and management of any music collection.

The innovative 'Contacts Bar' lets consumers highlight four favorite contacts on their home-screen and, through a single touch, track a digital history of recent text messages, emails, phone logs, photos and blog updates.

For the best screen resolution available on a mobile phone, the 3.2" widescreen display brings photos, video clips and web content to life in vibrant color and true clarity. With a 16 by 9 aspect ratio and 30 frames-per-second playback and recording, the device is ideal for VGA quality video recording and playback.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic also features a 3.2 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and, with a single touch, images or videos can be shared via a favorite online community, such as Share on Ovi, Flickr, or Facebook. Music playlist song titles can also be shared through Bluetooth, MMS or online sharing.

Music for the masses
The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic supports 60 languages worldwide, which covers nearly 90 percent of the world's population. As people around the world use their phones in different ways, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic offers a variety of input me

There's plenty else to recommend the phone in addition to its music-playback capabilities.
Nokia has done a good job of making commonly used programs and functions – such as the alarm clock, internet and Bluetooth connectivity – accessible with a single click, rather than buried within nested menus.

The handset offers a variety of input methods. Users can choose between typing on a virtual Qwerty keyboard using their fingers, tapping out messages using a standard alpha-numeric keyboard with T9 predictive text, or using a stylus to scribble out messages on the touchscreen.

it's an impressive touchscreen !!

It's very expensive, however, I found www.freeiphoneforme.co.uk and got one for free!

As you probably know, it's an expensive item for what it is... But, I didn't exactly pay for mine because I found a totally legal way of getting gifts like this for free!

Visit: www.freeiphoneforme.co.uk

I'm still receiving gifts like this, simply by completing just one offer like the LOVEFILM free trial. There are many other offers that you can also complete. I personally think that the Coral Bookmakers offer is the best to choose as it is quick and fun!

There are many other gifts on this site aswell, not just this product, you can get any consoles, HDTVs, iPods, iPhones, you name it, you can probably get it. You can even get cheques or Bank Transfers!
Take a look as I found it very helpful:

It's good - but don't expect too much

I've had this phone now for three months so I think that I can be fairly objective about this. Many comparisons to the iPhone are made as it is a natural rival and I gave up my iPhone for this one!

STYLE, QUALITY and ERGONOMICS
Ok - it looks cool. Most touch screen phones do but the coloured trim gives this phone a funky feel rather than the boring business like clinical finish of the others. It's not built like a sturdy high end phone like the iPhone but for a middling to top end phone this one is great. No creaks or blatant plastic feelings here. The buttons are ergonomically fine - the lock slide is a great addition to this phone whether you are a lefty or a righty.

PRACTICALITY and FUNCTION
Battery - fab! Lasts for well over a weekend - even with moderate usage.
Signal strength - fab again! I live in rural England way beyond the reaches of my old iPhone and LG shine. The 3G helps with this lots as internet connectivity is really quick.
Internet function - not so great I'm afraid: it does take some real getting used to. However, it is quick as I mentioned and if you get something familiar like Google as your home page it is almost as good as the iPhone web browsing.
E-mail - rubbish! I'm sorry to throw this in but it's a real let down. For some reason it won't send from my phone and it refuses to automatically check my inbox so it is all manual. Also, unlike the iPhone, the e-mails are text only so they reach the phone inbox distorted.
Maps - I'm having trouble with Nokia Maps so I downloaded Google maps as an add on. The GPS is great and will locate you quite accurately within a couple of minutes. Having said that I managed to get the Nokia SatNav working today and it is actually really good.
Music - Sorry - I'm not happy with Nokia's convoluted and distorted approach to online music. Having said that, the speakers are very high quality so if you do manage to get music on there it will sound great.
Touch-screen - actually really good: better than Apple's I have to say. The choice between a stylus and finger allows fine detail when required and convenience of finger control other times.
Phoning and texting - the option of having four contacts on the main screen is really handy for most commonly contacted and the 'process of elimination' search is great if you have hundreds of friends (search by letter and possible options are presented along with possible second letters and so on). Texting can be laborious as you have to choose between the various types of message before getting to SMS.
Games - rubbish: enough said!
Ringtones - rubbish - get a decent song on there and use that because Nokia's selection are just pathetic.
Camera - standard really. Disappointed that it is only a 3.2 megapixel but it does that job! The Carl Ziess lens is very high quality and beats the iPhone hands down.
Multimedia bar - I personally don't see the point but for people who need to get the internet, music of photos up in two clicks rather than three I suppose it's great!

CONCLUSION
As a phone that looks great and works well it is awesome - much better than the iPhone. As an internet phone with e-mail it falls somewhat short of the competition. It is sturdy and a nice size, it will last for a long time and hardly crashes like some smart phones do. So yes, buy it as a great phone with additional features... not as a top-end smart phone.

Happy bidding - I hope this was helpful :-)

nokia 5800. Really the best phone!!

I thought long and hard this time when choosing a new phone looked at all the ones out at the mo, quite fancied a touch screen. read all the reviews about this nokia 5800 and it has got some quite bad ones, ive only had it for 24 hours now but i tell you its brilliant. so much fun. It may be touch screen but i can text as fast as with buttons and im a texter. i was worried about that when i brought the phone, i text fast and this is quality. Theres just so much you can do wiht it. Sit and watcht the iplayer or youtube. Sat nav. Email. And people complaining about the 3.2 mega pixel camera, are they mad, its quality, jesus you just brought a phone not a camera get over it. I took some photo's today uploaded them via the phone online and they look brilliant. Best touch screen phone ive played with. The iphone has all the app's and toys but the build and the software are naff compared to this. The touch screen is so responsive and i haven't made a mistake yet.

If your thinking bout this i say buy it. You wont be dissapointed.

What I like:
-well-calibrated touch-screen,I think better than Samsung Omnia
-easy to use
-good quality

I find strange:
-The back-site cover,strange to remove,
-SIM card change is unusual.
-The memory card cover and the USB cable cover is not the best one.
But generaly it is a nice phone.I little bit heavy.
Enjoyable.

I like the touch screen on this phone, I did not expect it to be so responsive and fast. It is not obviously as good as Iphone, but still the symbian operating system makes the phone quite useful and user freindly to use.

Also all the accessories that comes with it means you can connect the phone to your tv to watch photos you clicked and 3.5mm jack means you can connect the phone to the music system with ease.

the nokia 5800 is one of the best phones currently on the market. it is one of the first fones which have the touch feature recently introduced by nokia. it packs a decent 3.1 mp camera and all the latest features requred by users today such as navigation and gps. with maps pre loaded and an 8gb it really is an entertainment portal.

plus on top of all that, its symbian so it has multi taksing and all the latest appps, such as adobe reader and full support for MS office documents.

All in all one of the BEST phones i have ever used.

I brought this phone for my wife, she had a apple iphone which was horrible to talk on, might have been the area that we lived in but as soon as i put her simcard into the nokia, full service and great for talking on. The camera on it is not the best but still better than the iphone and you can recieve picture messages.
The touch screen works well and the keypad is big enough for my large fingers.
All in all a great phone and nice to be able to talk to the wife with out having to say what I can't hear you.

wow what can i say, but very nice piece of equipment. not the easiest of phones to work your way round but then these new touch screens all seem a little challenging. i think its just one of those things you have to keep fiddling with until you become familiar with it. the things Nokia have included with it have been very well thought out, now that did impress me. i am an old sony Ericsson fan so that's good. incredible piece of kit for the money so on that i would give this phone 10/10, after all its not Nokia's fault i haven't quite got my head round it yet.

Phone was bought for my daughter who had a budget of £200.She liked a few phones but this one was noted as having a very good mp3 player. what was a bit of a worry was buying a "new" item from a private seller as I don't know what would happen if the item became faulty in the 1st year! But we saved £50 buying this way and touch wood all is fine!.

This phone is mint! the screen is really responsive and its got Nokia's trademark, easy to use menu system etc.
It smaller than the iphone and you can use all functions with only one hand.
Only minor floor is that it is sometimes tricky to type text messages etc unless you use the stylus.

I have just purchased this touch screen Nokia 5800 and I have found it very easy to use as it is based on the normal Nokia interface. It is much louder than any other Nokia phone I have had so I am unlikely to miss a call.
I have put all my music on it and it is brill.
Go to your nearest phone shop and get a demonstration, you will not be disappointed.

This is a great phone, a bit hard to get used to if you're not good with technology, however i found it very entertaining discovering all the features and playing around with all the different settings. Texting can be a bit difficult, holding the phone upright the touch keyboard is very small, and to make it larger you need to turn the phone over which can take long to get used to. I still havent figured out how to make it vibrate when i receive a phone call, but the menu button lights up when a text or call has been received. There's a handy sim card slot on the side of the phone so you don't need to play around with the back cover and battery to put the sim card in. The memory card slot is the same. The mp3 player is really good, clear sound and good volume even though it took me a little while to figure out how to use the phone while still having music playing. The wifi is excellent and the wap service is quite good. And unlike most other phones, Nokia phones always come with some fully installed games, all other big name brands give you demos which you then have to pay for. Its a beautiful looking phone and after a few days very easy to get the hang of. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

I've had this phone a little over a week now and am more than happy with it; it's by far the best phone that I have come across in a long time.

GOOD POINTS:
* responsive touchscreen with haptic feedback
* nice wi-fi signal
* incredibly easy to use once you have spent a couple mins playing with it
* decent camera that even takes nice videos despite being a lowly 3.2 MP
* tons of useful (many free) applications available on-line
* decent music player

BAD POINTS:
* inability to copy & paste text from bundled web browser
* my fingers are too big so must always use the stylus
* had to go through a long-winded process to sync my hotmail account with the phone
* errr... that's it.

All in all am amazing phone; easily trumps the iphone in my opinion, if you can pick one up for cheap (like I did) then you'll be laughing.
I rarely rave about phones but I've not been able to put this one down since I've had it.

this is Nokia's first touch-screen phone. i find it very easy to use with one or two hands. it's more sturdy than the N96 with much better battery life and i haven't noticed any software issues yet. if you're thinking of buying an (over-rated and over-priced) iPhone look at the 5800 first!
