Album Notes Fans of Nobukazu Takemura's previous (and excellent) American release, FUNFAIR, may find cause to pause upon hearing the first track on SCOPE. A 20-minute track of old-school electronic music and skipping CD sounds, it's unlike anything on his previous disc. Neither is "Taw", which sounds for all the world like a crazed grackle attacking a flatulent R2 unit. Is it extreme Yes, but it's also oddly soothing. With these notable exceptions, the bulk of the disc contains those pleasant, burbling sounds and tranquil textures that have become a signature sound for Takemura and make any of his recordings a wonderful listen.
