Nina Simone - The Very Best Of Nina Simone Vol.1 (CD 2006)

Guys, gals, you have GOT to get this CD, I have always liked Nina, she has such a sultry voice, it makes you want to curl up on a bed with black silk sheets, drink champagne and eat strawberries whilst you listen to this magical artist belt out all her amazing songs.

This CD contains most of Ms Simone's best music from over the years, and you are treated to such musical wonders as "Feeling Good", the funky and toe tapping "My Baby Just Cares For Me" and the thought provoking "To Be Young Gifted and Black."

I only wish the CD included the troubled and haunting melody "Strange Fruit", in this throatily sung song Nina told the world in allegory about the lynching of Black men, and who can forget those heartfelt lyrics as she cries out to a seemingly uncaring nation, "Strange fruit hangin' from the poplar trees..."

Quite simply the best, like Nina herself.

I bought this album because many of the songs remind me of some very good times. I think the music is timeless, and can be appreciated ny young and old alike...

Cracking and definitive collection of all the well known and quite a few lesser known tracks. All in all, a very classy collection.

Have always loved Nina Simone as an artiste and amongst others, I had this particular CD. Unfortunately, this CD went walk about and I have often considered replacing it so the obvious place to look for another copy was on ebay. Now I am a very happy bunny!

A wonderful, uplifting album of some of the most classic soul songs of all time. Wonderful stuff. Also includes remake of Aint Got No (from Muller Light Ad) which is an added bonus.

Basically purchased for the 10 minute track "Sinnerman" which I heard on the film The Thomas Crown Affair, but one or two other famous tracks. Not quite what I would normally buy, but I find as you get a bit older it is good to explore some different styles of music. It turned out an even better buy than I thought, with some very cool jazzy tracks. An excellent price made this a great but!!

This is probably my favourite album! It includes all the classics plus less familiar songs that you'll love just as much as those you know well.
