Nikon Micro-Nikkor AF-S 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF VR Lens

First of all, this lens is HUGE, mostly made of metal. It looks a bit weird on my Nikon D40x body. The macro ability is amazing, but it's a great telephoto lens too with it's VR system. The image quality is outstanding. Autofocus is very fast, much faster than the AF-S 18-55mm and AF-S 18-70mm zoom lenses. I didn't use any other macro lenses so far, but I'm really satisfied with it.

Great optics and build, I use this lens with my Nikon D300 - mainly for macro work - the VR facility works fine although its more noisy than the VR mechanism running in my other VR lens variants?
I was surprised to discover how heavy this lens actually is !! -- Still its a great lens and if I had to change it for another I might swap it for the Nikon 60mm with its micro facilities.

Great macro and portaiture lens. Very fast and extremely sharp. Works effectively on both FX and DX cameras. This lens is durable and well constructed. I would highly recommend it.
