The D2X was and still is a top of the line professional digital SLR. Nothing else (yet) packs more pixels per inch. Used below ISO 400 this camera is jaw droppingly sharp and offers very impressive autofocus tracking and accuracy.
The D2X with its 1.5x crop sensor and 2x auto-crop mode, is designed and best suited for long telephoto and distance shooting. This combined with having still the best resolving power of a Nikon mount camera means that the D2X is capable of outstanding detail and sharpness, due mainly to its high quality anti aliasing filter.
Ergonomically it is very good, probably just behind the newer D200 and D300 units, but still light years ahead of the cumbersome Canon 1D.
It is my camera of choice for wildlife photography and if i was to start from scratch again, this would be the camera i would buy.
