Nikon D2H DSLR Camera 14 of 14 people found this review helpful.
I have used several of these professionally over the past 2/3 years with great results. The D2H really is a pro workhorse and hardly ever misses a beat. Occasionally, I have dropped a shot or not quite got it pin sharp, but anybody who says it NEVER lets them down, probably isn't using it! It could have been me, the lens or the CF card that was at fault anyway. I had D1s and D1Hs before and what a vast improvement the battery life is on the D2. A D1 battery would last 2/3 hours if you were lucky, the battery on the D2 nearly always lasts the whole day. I use the 8 frames/sec for show jumping which enables me to present the whole sequence as they go over the jump and land for consideration. It may not be everybody's cup of tea, but I also like the image magnification of 1.5 times. It means my 70-200 F2.8 AFS lens now has a focal length of 105-300 while retaining the F2.8 max apeture. As I don't want the full frame capability of the D3, I'll stick with my D2s as long as I can. With the latest SB800 flash unit, flash photography is the best yet on Nikon's DSLRs. Still not as reliable as their film cameras, but getting better. I would highly recomend the Nikon D2 series cameras to anybody who is contemplating buying one. Good luck and happy shooting.

I have a Nikon D40x and it is great, 10.1 mp and great useability but when I got a Nikon D2H I was blown away. The thought that has gone in to this camera is second to none, hence why the D3 looks almost exactly the same. It may only be 4.1mp but the quality is amazing, if I want a shot to print A4 or A3 I use my D2H instead of the 10mp D40x. If you want a point and click DSLR go for something like the D40x if you want a camera where every funcion is at your fingertips the D2H is the one for you. I like using manual mode and the D2H is so easy to use, if i want to change the iso (or pretty much anything) its one button not going through loads of menus. The photos are pin sharp and look like pro shots because this is what the pros had before the D2x or the D3. Some might say its weight is a down side but i find it is no problem, to me it just feels solid and well made, plus it looks stunning! Knowing what i do now given the choice of a new camera or a D2H for the same money i would always have the D2H, unless i could afford the D2x or the D3.
