Coolpix L3, excellent, small, and an amazing piece of kit.
For a small compact, 5 mega pixel is more than enough, 3x Optical Zoom, 4x Digital Zoom, 2.0" LCD Screen (ideal for those of us with eye sight, not as good as it used to be), 32Mb of internal memory but also holds an SD memory card, (copes very well with a 2GB)
We have noticed that this lump of equipment is now readily available in High Street shops cheaper than some ebayers are trying to sell at a fixed rate auction. This Compact Camera costs around £50.00 - £70.00 as new in the shops,depending on which extras you include... so just beware of those crafy ebayers.

Pocket sized marvel

When I came to choose a new camera I was looking for something that was genuiniely pocket sized but took great pictures. I only need it for holiday and party snaps - so nothing too challenging. I researched a number of website before realising that this Nikon offered a nice compact size and the promise of great photos.
This was not the cheapest camera available but I am thrilled with the result. It takes excellet photos and the software that came with it is easy to use. My only disappointment was breaking at at Disney World - my fault. However, I liked the camera so much I bought an identical replacement. If you get one of these make sure you get a protective case / wallet as well to look after your item.

I'd wanted a digital camera for while but didn't know which one to buy...I wanted one that was very easy to use, robust, small and not too expensive. My friend's daughters, 6 and 8, have one each...they leave it on the floor, drop it lots and it still takes great photos...so I thought that was the one for me...
And now I've got one, I'm delighted.

Nikon Coolpix L3 - Pocketable Gem?

These little camera's are something of a mixed bag and how you will get on with it depends on what sort of photo's you take!
It is genuinely pocketable so useful as a carry anywhere camera. Small yet just big enough to get a firm one handed grip. The lens is excellent and results outdoors are good, macro pretty good as well. BUT, and it is a big BUT, the flash range is very poor and if you would use the camera mostly indoors you will be disappointed with the results as most of your shots will look under exposed and possibly blurred. if you only shoot outdoors you will like it.
One point you may want to consider though, is that there seems to be quite a few of this model coming up on ebay as for spares or repair, mostly with the same fault, the lens jamming.

The over-riding quality of the Coolpix family of digital camera's from Nikon , and in particular the L3 , is their simplicity and ease of use whilst still being great value for money.I found the act of transferring pictures from camera to pc very simple and was able to manipulate the images using the Nikon fotoshare software supplied like a professional.One minus point , as with all compact digital camera's is the focus range and the camera struggles over long distances.At only 5.1 megapixels the camera has been superceded within the range but this only becomes an issue if blowing images up , something which the average user within the target demographic would only contemplate occasionally. All round a great camera.

Lovely camera but do niot like the fact that you cannot use rechargeable batteries and the batteries it needs are quite expensive. I bought this one because I got it at a reasonable price, my budget being very low and I could not afford a new one. Ordinary batteries do not work in this camera.

The camera I was was a terrific product, it is one of the best items I have bought. The Nikon camera has so many things going for it, it has an automatic zoom lense and the pictures taken with it are very clear, the instructions that came with it were very pricise and accurate, and it came with a usb cable and an extra 1mg SD which to buy this in the shop would have cost triple the price I paid for it. I will have a lot of fun taking pics with this camera.

I have to say that I am amazed by the quality of this camera and the value for money it represents. It is simple to use, easily fits into your pocket and takes absolutely stunning shots both inside and outside.
The camera features a 2-inch LCD screen and has a camera resolution of almost 5.25-mega pixels. It supports an optical zoom of 3x and a digital zoom of 4x. You can also take good quality video clips in full colour and with sound (up to 640 x 480 for VGA and 320 x 240 for QVGA). The camera features a built in flash supporting functions like Flash Off, Auto Flash, Red-eye Reduction and Slow Sync. This camera has over 20Mb of memory space for images (allows over 750 frames to be stored even at high resolution).
Some of the other features are fantastic, including:
Macro Images - being able to take really close up images of minute objects
Auto Focus - shots are crystal clear with this function
Face Priority - you can put the back ground into soft focus (like an SLR)
Scenes - hundreds of scenes for close up, panoramic, low lighting etc ..
Tripod & Self Timer - no excudes now for not being in your own photo
All things being considered, it's fantastic value for money; you won't be dissapointed with the Nikon Coolpix L3 Camera !
