  so simple to use

Having previously owned a top of the range very expensive digital camera I was pleasantly surprised with this camera especially the lightweight compactness and the ease of use; what was even more pleasing was the picture quality and the simplicity in down loading to p.c. thus far have not found anything I do not like about this camera especially the price.

  NIKON COOLPIX 7600 DIGITAL CAMERA

I bought the Camera as a 'throwaway' camera for my friend at my wedding, not that I distrusted him, but if he put it down and it was damaged or indeed stolen, then the expense had been reduced because, I left my Ixus at home..!!

I was so suprised, the quality of the images were extremely clear, focused, the ideal for putting in your pocket pulling out and on auto takes THE SHOT.. no problems.

I have now invested in a leather case to protect the lens, but, I would not hesitate in recomending this 'easy to use point and shoot Camera'.

I bought the camera for spares as it as broken, but managed to fix it and am so very pleased to use it, its great!

The Coolpix 7600 lives up to the Nikon brand it does everything it says on the box and more.

Controls such as wide / telephoto are well places so that you dont need to fumble around to find them and with a little care this pocket camera can produce stunning images worthy of an SLR.

The Macro close-up feature is very good as are the inbuilt settings for scenes, which work well if you dont want to be bothered with composing shots.

I have used a Nikon Digital SLR and an Olympus digital compact regularly, the coolpix produces images towards the SLR standard.

If theres any fault with this camera it is the small size of the screen, which makes it difficult to see the quality of the shot youv'e just taken. You can compensate for this by zooming the shot in review mode.

Nikon COOLPIX 7600 Digital Camera - 100% PERFECT!
Review created: 27/07/09(updated 27/07/09)
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

After tirelessly researching on the internet what's available on the market I decided to replace the Nikon COOLPIX 7600 that I purchased for the first
time in 2006 with the exact same camera!!!!!

After carelessly dropping my original on more than one occaision I needed a replacemet but found that although the newer models now have larger viewing screens this was
really the only benefit.

The COOLPIX 7600 I already had offered me more functions than more recent models within the same price range and much more importantly gave sharper picture images
than those with higher pixels - often a common problem with compact digitals as I've now discovered.

The things that I love about it are:

* Easy to use and understand even if you're a novice!

* Decent battery life - either with rechargeables supplied or normal AA batteries

* Powerful optical zoom to bring your subject closer giving really sharp results as well as additional digital zoom

* Close-up macro facility is one of the best I've come across on any compact camera - I've used it for photographing butterflies and even bees and the results were stunning!

* Offers the option to take photos in natural colours or vivid colours (for enhanced results)as well as black & white and sepia

* Other useful features such as red-eye reduction and the option to date-print your photos if desired

* Good quality video recording facility (although I don't really use this to be honest)

* Handy auto-focus option particularly useful if you're not one for adjusting settings before taking photographs

When I first bought this model in 2006 it cost me £350 as it was near the top end of the market at the time for a digital compact.

I consulted with Nikon as to the eqivalent now and was advised to upgrade to a COOLPIX P90. However, this was far too large a camera for what I wanted as I like something
that is light-weight and slips in your pocket.

I read numerous reviews for compact & ultra compact cameras of all makes but none offered the quality and sharpness with the end results and so I thought 'better the devil
you know' and decided to replace my old one with exactly the same model!

I actually found a brand new boxed one on ebay for just £69 with a free 2GB memory card included which was also pleasing as I had resigned myself to the fact that I'd
probably be looking at around £400 to replace/upgrade.

I now have the camera in my possesion and used it a couple of nights ago at a school reunion and also today at Whipsnade Animal Park. As I expected,
the results are amazing, the colours and sharpness of the images captured fantastic and I didn't have to learn how to use a new model!

Highly recommended to amateurs and professionals who want a compact point & shoot as a back-up that is ready to hand when required.

Nikon Coolpix 7600 compact digital camera

Having searched for a good compact camera at a affordable price I chose this one.
I'm pleased to say that I wasn't dissapointed. It is made for a beginner like me, and has a full auto mode which caters for most everyday situations.
When you go further into the menus it can be set up for all sorts of tyes of shot, such as night, sports, macro, etc., although you cannot mess arround with things like f numbers, shutter speeds and ISO's too much. Good!.
It is a very compact camera but all the controls are easy to find and use.
THe scrre is a bit small, but a proper viewfinder is aailable. It only takes AA batteries, but I have some high capacity rechargeable ones.
The lens seems excellent quality as you would expect from a Nikon.
All in all a good little camera for a beginner.

Photo Power In The Palm Of Your Hand
Review created: 21/07/08
1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

The Nikon Coolpix 7600 is a tiny camera that belies its power.
This extremely compact camera features a 7.1-megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom with an exceptionally high quality Nikkor lens.
And that's what stands this camera out from the competition. Forget how many megapixels your camera has - it's the quality of the sensor and the lens that makes for good pictures.
Nikon are well known for their quality, but even I was blown away by the pictures that this camera produces.

There are some 16 shooting modes, each with a number of further choices, so whatever the situation, you can simply set the mode, point and shoot.
I'm not an experienced photographer, but I've produced some great pictures with this camera, including some extreme close-ups (macro mode).

The 7600 runs on 2 x AA size batteries. The best bet being NiMH rechargeables, but it can also use NiCd rechargeables or standard Alkaline batteries. Useful if you don't have access to a charging point - just buy some AA batteries and you're up and running.

I chose this model because it has a viewfinder, which I find easier to use.
The screen is 1.8" - small by some standards - but produces a clear, sharp display, except in very bright sunlight when it is more difficult to see.

The 7.1 MegaPixels allows me to produce good quality prints of up to 18" x 12" - great for portraits.

Having bought a few digital cameras in the past, I'm really regretting not buying a Nikon in the first place. But now I have, I'm hooked. It's Nikon or nothing for me.

looks nice, a bit complicated, a beginner cant use this
Review created: 18/08/09

It's a nice sized camera...weight is fine as well...fabulous resolution but a typical Nikon - complicated for use by a beginner. I bought it for my mom and she's enjoying learning it but personally I think it's a bit tough on a newbie!

Rest is not to mention, Nikon remains my favourite...no other brand can beat it's clarity and resolution.

Better than many higher MPX cameras
Review created: 09/08/09
by:

This is the 2nd Coolpix 7600 I have bought. After I stupidly broke my first one I bought a Cannon 10MPX camera thinking it was a good make and higher resolution so bound to be better quality. Nope, it wasn't - the picture quality wasn't a patch on the little 7600. It's a great wee camera, highly recommend it and until I can save up for a NIkon D90, this will do me for years!
