Action you cannot miss

In a story that owes something to 'Pygmalion', junkie punk Nikita is detained for the murder of a cop and then transformed into a designer-clad government assassin. But life as a killer on call is complicated and casts a shadow over her affair with new lover Marco.
The film falls into two distinct sections of which the opening is the best. after that it becomes a more conventional thriller. Much of the film's success is down to Parillaud herself. The camera clearly adores her (following the eye of the director, as they were a couple for a while, and had a child). It's Amanda who oversees Nikita's transformation from a savage, speechless junkie into a femme fatale. Nikita in action is fast, graceful and very exciting,
Luc Besson has always been a filmmaker fascinated by the look of things but rarely has he relished surface flash more than here. Nikita is built around a questionable premise and the plot contains more holes than my string vest. But for all its faults it's a great action movie, manages to appear more realistic than it really is. if you are a action Don't miss this,
