In The Night Garden - Who's Here? (DVD)

Both myself and my 1yr old daughter love in the night garden. The episodes are quite long, so you aren't listening to the theme tune constantly(though it is a nice tune!) Above all it's the one sure thing that if i need my little girl to sit still, she will always be happy to sit and watch.

Chances are there's barely a parent of a toddler in the country who hasn't encountered In The Night Garden in some form over the past few months. The latest BBC-hit from the CBeebies channel, and with a passing resemblance to Teletubbies, this debut DVD for the show brings together five episodes. And many parents already, we suspect, will have their credit cards ready.

In true childrens' television tradition, In The Night Garden is often as alien to adults as it is compelling to its real target audience. But heck, do children love it. Accompanied by the gentle narration of Sir Derek Jacobi, it's billed a nursery rhyme picture book of sorts. This manifests itself in the shape of a wild mix of children and characters, who get up to a mixture of diverse and diverting activities.

And this is one of the many areas where In The Night Garden strikes gold. Not only does it have a distinctive and warm collection of characters, but it does have an educational undercurrent to it all. In short, it engages its target audience particularly well, and teaches them a little in the process.

The DVD is rounded off with special bonus footage and a parents' guide, but it's the five episodes that are set to be spun time and time again. And rightly so. Expect this to be the first DVD release of many, too, for a show with many, many years ahead of it.

I thought In The Night Garden was a bit silly and pointless at first, but having watched it over and over with my 2 year old son, I have found that it actually teaches as well as entertains. Each character has a 'song' which helps toddlers to identify them. Each episode begins and ends in the same way which helps little ones to understand routine and one thing that I particularly like is that there are times to jump and dance and times to sit quietly with a story. This DVD can capture anyone's attention and any age group! I have since bought 3 other In The Night Garden DVDs and my whole family - husband included! - have enjoyed them!!

beware! there are pirate copies out there i should know i bought one. they are very poor quality and a big dissappointment when it arrives through the post.mine was a xmas present so i ended up buying it again from a super market so i paid twice.only buy if it is sealed.

i would recomend any one to by this dvd if they have young children as it keeps my 2 year old and 7 month old entertaind for hours

This DVD is excellent and really entertains your little toddlers. I have noticed all little ones love In the Night Garden and the characters are just so funny.

Its perfect for my lil girl she just knows it so well now as soon as she hears the music.An excellent DVD.

If your little one likes In the Night Garden they will love this DVD. Everything about the programme is suited to pre-schoolers and my 5mth old daughter just can't get enough of it. Would recommend to anyone with under fives.

I can get half an hour's wotk completed when an episode begins, Baby is glued to the TV for the duration!
Don't think that they learn that much from In the Night Garden, apart from some strange dances - but even that is exercise!

My youngest grandson loves in the night garden, especially Iggle Piggle, now i havea 9 month old grand-daughter, and she adores Upsy Daisy and Iggle Piggle and absolutely giggles when they appear on screen. So now looking after her is great fun.

i bought this item for my 22 month old son who adours in the night garden, this was ment to be a christmas preasnt. i chose this one as it was one of the best prices i could find on ebay and the seler had good feedback. unfourtunatly the item did not explane that it was counterfit and i was very dissapointed when it arrived i felt embarrassed to have been cond out of money and as i am realitivly new to ebay was unsure on how to go about this situation so decieded to just forget about it, after all this person now has my mailling address.
