This album is the catalyst for many of todays modern folk acts, the influences in various artists styles and sounds can be sourced here. Kate Rusby often mentions this artist on many of her tours, and i think Seth Lakeman certainly has influences from him. also if you listen to Mike Harding on radio 2 he always plays something of nic's (the top ten background music for instance).

) Great great album. I had only heard Canadee-i-o before I got this. Probably still the best track, but the rest will not disappoint. Voted best folk album of all time with good reason.

Nic Jones - The Very BestThis album, Nic's 5th solo album and the last one before his dreadful car accident, is a real work of art. The combination of his magical singing and superb guitar work remain unsurpassed by any folk musician. But this record is just one of a set. The four previous solo albums are equally marvellous. Check out Nic Jones' website and the Mudcat website though before deciding how to get your music. Some methods are unethical. Nic himself deserves to benifit from his music as well as the listener and CD distributor. Enjoy...
