Navman iCN 510 GPS Receiver

I am happy with product and seller… means I have no issue with seller, actually great seller and very quick delivery but the product means "Navman iCN 510 GPS Receiver" itself is a bit.... NAUGHTY. Few days ago I needed to go somewhere and it took me through very long route and it bought me back via shortest... I was surprised that the 20-30 minutes route took me more than hour to reach and just 20 - 30 minutes to return back.

One of my friends borrowed it for few days and he was complaining the same thing that some times it makes easy routes very complicated. Well let me clarify that I have changed settings like “Quick” to “Shortest” and “Shortest” to “Quick” but … it’s still same.

Screen is reflective means sunlight or any light coming straight on it makes it hard to see the map.

Postcode search is pathetic means I wanted to go to Merry Hill Shopping centre, Dudley but when I entered the postcode… "Navman iCN 510 GPS Receiver" was unable to find the postcode.

It takes ages to find a satellite link when it’s switched on.

Buying the sat nav wasnt a hassle all as described but i should have done a little more research.... the Navman does not have any updates avaliable so as such the maps are 3 years out of date i would stay well clear of this sat nav imo..

Slow at locating a gps fix and isnt as user friendly as a tomtom which i now have!

As a first time user of sat nav, I wanted a device that I could use straight out of the box and also needed one to work in the USA and the iCN510 seemed to meet my requirements.
Initially, the device took a while to find a satellite, but once it did there were no further problems. It is quick and accurate and keeps up with the car traveling at speed on the motorway.
The windscreen mounting bracket supplied is effective and holds the device in a very stable position. The screen is bright and the mapping very clear.
The menu system is easy to use and intuitive and the device itself is small enough to put in your pocket.
There are no further software upgrades available for this device and I also purchased the USA mapping software from another company that uses a bespoke version of the tom tom navigation system. This combination works very well.
You can buy latest maps of the UK, Europe and the USA either from Navman directly or using an on line e-tailer.
I would definitely recommend this device to anyone who wants a simple, reliable sat nav system and has had no previous experience of using one.

4. Navman software CD (not Vista compatible)
5. European maps on 3 CD's
6. SD card with UK maps
7. In car charger
8. Protective wallet
9. Operating manuals

It is possible to add the latest speed camera locations to the device by accessing on line services where you can import a data file into the unit by using the supplied software.

I found the software to be a little limiting and it does not work with Vista, so using it may be a problem for some who do not have access to a windows XP machine. The software does not run in compatibility mode in Vista very well.

Overall, this is an easy to use, works straight out of the box unit and I have no problems recommending it. I would however, allow for the fact that you will need to buy the latest version of the UK maps from Navman, particularly if you travel extensively throughout the UK.

Overall, I would give the device 8/10 for ease of use, value for money and the fact that software upgrades are available from on-line e-tailers to keep the unit future proof.

I bought a Navman icn 520 recently from ebay. This is the first sat nav i have ever owned so i cannot comment on how it compares with other sat navs.
I found this sat nav VERY easy to use. it was easy to work out what to do (even without looking at the manual) it has got a decent sized colour screen and is very clear. It is also able to adapt if you take a wrong turning and re routes itself. The voice commands are nice and clear and easy to understand. I also bought an external ariel to boost the GPS signal and it works great. I would recommend allowing it to search for available satellites while the car is stationary as it is able to find them much quicker than if the car is moving.
For anybody looking for a good value, easy to use sat nav then i would definitely recommend this model :-)

It is easy to use and handle, if i can use it anyone can. Easy to read screen and i brought it on recommendation by someone else who owns one. I will never get lost again.I previuosly had a tom tom and really had problems working it, it struggled to find a stalite were as this one seems to have no problems at all as soon as the imfo is put in away it goes.

didn't work, won't be doing business with seller zoemartin again. it had been opened up(scratch marks on screws and at join, bar code strip holed to get at screw, stylus missing), seller denies it, all i got for £54.50 was bad feedback.

i purchased the sat nav because i need to travel around the country.unfortunately the sat nav was faulty.i have since purchased another navman and i am over the moon with it,i can really recommend it. it takes the guesswork out of finding out of the way places which therefore makes drivung safer.

Navman iCN 510 GPS Receiver was sentto me ,item was not working proper got refund very fast b4 i even sent item back .
after about 2 week i sent item back due to family problems could not send it back b4
i had to lose out on 8.50 due to this on p@p
i sent item back

Great unit with not a scratch on it, although Navman no longer supports software (updates) I found a supplier of software that has made this unit future proof. GREAT. Any one who also has this unit and want to update see Ebayer.... 2009extras4gps

can't reaaly comment as i didn't recieve all the pieces - ie pc cable, wallet, dics or manuals - have managed to download a manual but without the discs i don't tyhink i can update cameras etc. will have to have a fiddle and search i think :(
