Navman S50 Car GPS Receiver

The new Navman S50 is by far the best Navman to date, with its faster processor start-up time is a lot quicker than on the older models, and it also benefits by having the full 8 digit postcodes. There are some nice new touches like the voice instructions which now tell you when entering or leaving the motorway, the name of the motorway or the road you are going on to.
The 4.3" Touchscreen-Widescreen is clear and responsive,and there are separate buttons for petrol stations and car parks,it also uses the latest Teleatlas maps.
The S50 still retains all the features of the older models such as 3d map,2d map next 4 turns,search by postcode,poi,address,town,.Also has the distance travelled,distance to travel,eta,speed camera alerts,mph,automatic audible alert when you exceed the speed limit,TMC,and a a Bluetooth link which i found works great.
But the one thing that really makes it stand apart from other Satnavs is the ability to display the house numbers of the road that you are travelling on at the bottom of the screen.So if you know the road but not exactly where the number you are looking for is, you just watch the house numbers on the bottom of the satnav screen.Perfect if you do lots of local deliveries saves time having to keep putting in postcodes or the address.
I am a delivery driver and know most of the roads in the area I deliver to, but probably not exactly where the number I am looking for is on a particular road,I just leave the Satnav on free roam and watch the house numbers as they change on screen, I am never more than one door away from where I want to deliver to.
All in all with its bigger screen, improved slim design, better sound and ease of use, the best Navman so far. Also they have improved the windscreen mount the S50 just slides on and off no pressing clips.In my opinion a really great bit of kit.Recently used it to travel down to Norfolk for a boating holiday never took a wrong turn there or back, even used it on the boat shows where you are on the river.I have used TomTom which was ok but had to keep putting in the address or postcode which was a pain.If you want a decent Satnav at a resonable price that has all the features you will ever need to get from A to B then get a Navman S50,If you just want a Satnav that you can put silly voices on then get a TomTom at twice the price.Also has Bluetooth on so you can pair it with your mobile phone,and be notified if you receive any calls whilst driving.All in all I have had several Satnavs and I definatly rate this as the best,Thanks for taking the time to read this review.

EASY TO USE , THE BLUETOOTH FUNCTION IS EXCELLENT, LOVELY BIG SCREEN, A CRACKING PRODUCT. AFTER SHOPPING AROUND THE OTHER BRANDS I FOUND THAT THE NAVMAN, ALTHOUGH SLIGHTLY DEARER THAN THE BOTTOM RANGES, IT HAD SO MANY MORE FUNCTIONS. PAYING VERY SLIGHTLY MORE HAS MADE MY JOB SO MUCH EASIER AND SAFER.

I decided to buy this particular Navman S50 because it was supposed to have France on it. I have since found that this is not the case. I am not happy.

contains alot more road info that last satnav, including speed cameras. and street names, places of interest, restuarants, petrol stations etc etc.

This item is ideal forme as it has everything I need and when I am traveling somewhere I can go directly where I need to and get there on time and also not waste time going around in circles and that is also the reason why I bought it.

I've had satnav built in to my car on my previous two vehicles but when I bought the current one it was not an option so I bought this. It's far better than either of the previous systems and the bluetooth handsfree facility is a must!

A sat nav that works just fine, at a fraction of the cost! I managed to get this for about £40 and it's worth every penny. It is very easy to use, custom points of interests can be downloaded for free from 3rd party websites. My one has every Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, B&Q.. etc. Pretty much every shop you can get, as well as petrol stations, restaurants, pubs.. You name it, it can be put on it. One problem is the battery life isn't great, you will get a few hours out of it but to be honest I only use it in the car, where it's plugged in so I don't need the battery! It is also incredibly accurate, it beeps when your exactly outside your destination! It's a fantastic bit of kit that's level with other sat nav units worth over £200.

I have recently purchased a new car and as I wished to travel further afield but have a terrible sense of direction, I thought a Sat Nav would be the ideal solution. My daughter has this model which I had, on occasions, borrowed. I found it easy to use and accurate with destinations

i bought the navman sat.. for my car the price was good and it works well with spoken directions for driving.

i bought them for clarity of picture and precise easy mapping.these sat navs perform well and can be adapted to act as pda,pictures/photo and MP3 player

Excellent product does what it says on the box. Have used it for around 1000, miles in the the last three week and its got me direct to my destination. Detected all speed cameras on route well in advance.
Only three down points
1)Keeps losing bluetooth connection.
2)Unit freezes sometimes and only way to clear appears to be to connect it to a pc.
3)Customer service not very good 4 days to reply to email and still did not answer question just reffered me to online manual. This did not answer my question hence the email.
