Although one of the lowest priced satnavs the F20 has some excellent and useful features over and above the usual navigation features. Individual buttons can be pressed to show you your nearest petrol station and nearest car park. Entry of addresses is easy and includes full postal code entry to minimise entry details and navigate you to the door of your destination. The inbuilt speed camera location warning system works well and does not require any subscriptions! User options are all there including male or female voice, use of which types of road, automatic screen brightness control working of the inbuilt clock or user setable, type of map and information display etc. The add on option of real time traffic updates via radio is a neat unit that fits the F20 well and should be helpful to avoid traffic jams.

The instruction manual is easy to use however the on screen menus are very intuitive and quickly allow you to set up your preferences or enter destinations. The F20 will work straight from the box. A 'non technical' friend had no problem in setting up and using the unit.

Any dislikes? Not really. Choice of road types and fast or most direct route options can lead to some slightly surprising choices of route although so far they have proved accurate and reliable. Detail goes down to unmetalled tracks from motorways. You can set the unit to not use the 'farm tracks' though the F20 can be set to at least alert you to the existance of the very small roads that would give you the most direct route. Fast routes will generally be limited to using at least A roads though the distance will usually be greater than the more general option.

The supplied unit comes with UK and Ireland maps already loaded. A wide range of other maps on SD cards are available from Navman for most other countries although a bit expensive at about £50 each.

Overall I rate the Navman an excellent satnav unit for a low cost compared with the competition.

Easy to use clear and precise directions!
I read a review in the sun news paper and navman sat navs came out on top for getting you to your destination.
Everyone I know that has either tom tom or another sat nav have stories to tell of being taken to the wrong place!
So far navman has been 100% correct! At the end of the day thats what you what it to do!!!!!
I have not worked out how to enter the street number after a postcode yet and is my only tiny gripe but sure it will me in the manual somewhere!

Very well priced and as easy as Tom Tom with touch screen control. Excellent to have safety cameras incorporated in the unit unlike the Tom Tom 1 V2 where you have to pay a subscription each month. Maps are superb and take you where you want to go. My only gripe is it is very quiet, even on full volume on the motorway you have to strain your ears to hear command. This is a common fault with all F20s according to the helpline.

Very easy to use and quite quick to locate satellites. The postcode system of address finding works well, as does manually typing in the addresses.
The graphics are bright and work well. The voices are loud and clear. So far, it has always taken me straight to my chosen destination and even when I go wrong , it quickly recalculates a new route. My wife also really likes using it when going to a new destination.
I would recommend the unit based on price and ease of usage.

I upgraded my mobile phone and within the upgrade was a a GPS option. This got me into satnav. The screen was very small on my phone so I opted to buy a real satnav setup. I have not been disapointed. The Navman is very simple to use and set up[ poi , home address etc] has a nice bright screen, and appears to be very accurate with its positioning, directions are clear and concise.
My one gripe about the navman is the screen suction mount, I am not the tallest of people and my car has a deep dash, reaching the Navman to alter during a journey[parked up off course] is a problem, But a quick search through ebay produced an airvent mount.
great

this is the easiest sat nav I have ever tried to use. Bought it as a present but am waiting to get myself one too.
so easy to use, even without instruction. The sat nav is quick to update screen and instructions as you move along, giving directions in time, but ,importantly, not too early.
I think it was a bargain.

Excellent product; I wanted an S30 but didn't get one at the price I wanted to pay. I suspect that the technology in the F20 is very similar. It performs very well and if you understand how to combine fastest and shortest routes, wll prove very satisfactory. At the moment I still know where I'm going and use common sense as well as satnav. For a laugh I used it to go down a gated road well out in the country and it got its knickers in a complete twist, but was fine when I moved back on to more major roads. I find it very good at re-routing when I ignore its directions and go my own way.

  Navman F20 Rocks
Review created: 06/07/08

The Navman F20 is an idiot proof GPS system(I know because I can use it). The whole screen home page is self explanetary and even somebody with large fingers can operate the touch screen easily. Clear voice direction to the last foot is a massive bonus. One small irritating thing is if you have done a journey and try to go back to it the system goes into Demo mode and can be differcult to get out of, when I first used it I went on a journey I already knew so all I did was listen to directions to confirm route. The Navman took me to the door. In todays climate the price was a major factor in buying system but Navman had been recommended so that sealed it. All in all the system provides great value for money does the same job as a more expensive system, looks great, Buy It

I purchased an ex-display Navman F20,for a bargin! It's absolutely wonderful. Easy to use with touch screen ( just don't have greasy or dirty hands!). It also tells you the nearest petrol station, parking and lots of nearby place of interest which came in useful when trying to entertain young children. I would recommend this product to anyone. It hasn't directed me to a wrong place yet, unlike other Sat Navs I've used before.

What I also like about this product, it quickly finds a GPS signal without having to wait and you can also charge it from home as it is a mini USB socket.

A great buy.

This is the second F20 I've bought. I can moan over a few bits, but I think those faults - sending you up a road that's actually a fence and a field or taking me into the bus only section of Huddersfield bus depot - are general sat nav quirks as everyone I know has problems with their satnav at times no matter who makes it. Now for the good bits - ease of use is a big plus, the second one is for my Mum and Dad and they can't even program a video. You hold the button whilst it comes on press yes you will be good and not program it while you are driving, then away you go I use the female American voice, I find she's less annoying I've realised what a traffic circle is oh and a zip code so I'm fine. To sum up if you want a not many frills easy to use sat nav then this is the baby plus it can be set to bleep if you go over the speed limit, I drive a 4.0 V8 auto disco and I find it handy on the motorway as being a lazy auto I can slide up to and over the speed limit whilst toddling along, now I get a bleepy alarm when I go over 70mph thank you nav man!

Little add on for you here - you all probably do this already! Renault Laguna's and such with the funny windscreen, don't buy the aerial pack, just pop it on your side window and adjust the head around. It does not have to be as "pointing forward" as you'd think either, works rather well at the 1 or 2 o'clock position with no problem - just used it for a week like that in the mrs' Laguna over in Lincolnshire.

Not the smallest but a good map and a great asset
Review created: 10/07/08

A slightly large device but it works really well and fairly easy to use. My installed map is a couple of years old and very occassionally when driving on new bits of road it becomes confused but gets over it quickly. A cheap update to the map would be good. I did a trip around Europe last year including Germany France Luxembourg Italy Belgium Austria Switzerland and Holland. I have even used it in the UK. If you can get it with an up to date map for under 75 pounds it is a bargain.
