National Treasure (DVD)

This film really does have an Indiana Jones feel to it, but it also definitely has that modern upbeat action thriller storyline too. I would recommend this film to anyone who likes to watch an edge of the seat action adventure. The film is easy to follow and is full of action, with few slow moments. Which is exactly how it should be, seeing as it is an ACTION movie.

Movie Synopsis (for those who dont know):

All his life, Benjamin Franklin Gates (Nicolas Cage), third generation treasure hunter, has been searching for a treasure no one believed existed: amassed through the ages, moved across continents, to become the greatest treasure the world has ever known. Hidden by the United States of America's Founding Fathers, they left clues to the treasure's location right before our eyes... from America's birthplace, to the nation's capitol, to clues buried within the symbols on the U.S. dollar bill. Gates' lifelong journey leads him to the last place anyone thought to look: a map hidden on the back of the Declaration of Independence. But what he thought was the final clue is only the beginning. Gates realizes in order to protect the world's greatest treasure, he must now do the unthinkable: steal the most revered, best guarded document in American history before it falls into the wrong hands. In a race against time, Gates must elude the authorities, stay one step ahead of his ruthless adversary (Sean Bean), decipher the remaining clues and unlock the 2000-year-old mystery behind America's greatest national treasure.

THIS FILM HAS EARNT A PLACE IN MY DVD COLLECTION!! WOULD RECOMMEND, DEFINITELY WORTH A WATCH!!!

It's hard to explain why a simple treasure hunt film like this is such a winner.
However like a great novel (with great action scenes!) National Treasure is extremely difficult to put down. And lets face it, any film that involves the stealing of the Declaration of Independence has to be worth a look!
The ever solid Jon Voight, Sean Bean (Baddie) and Nic Cage(one of my all time favourites!) are joined by the up-and-coming (at the time of release) Diane Kruger who turns in a classy performance as the love interest.
Any Fan of Mr Cage's work (and perhaps some that aren't?)will thoroughly enjoy this offering despite some cheesy moments that all good endings need.
(this is a disney film after all!)
also movie has same producer as Pirates of the carribean so expect some similar visuals. Enjoy

I WAS FIRST ATTRACTED TO THIS FILM BECAUSE NICHOLAS CAGE WAS THE LEAD MAN .I HAVE SEEN OTHER FILMS IN WHICH CAGE WAS GREAT IN. THIS FILM IS NO EXCEPTION WITH ITS GREAT STORY LINE,SPECIAL EFFECTS AND OUTSTANDING ACTING FROM ALL MEMBERS OF THE CAST.THIS FILM WILL HAVE YOU ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEATS.AS CAGE IS A MODERN DAY TREASURE HUNTER,HE FINDS THE CLUES TO HIS TREASURE IN THE MOST UNLIKELY OF PLACES.MAKING THIS COMICAL AT TIMES.AS ALWAYS THE BADDY IS CLOSING IN BEHIND CAGE .SET IN MODERN DAY WITH ANCIENT TREASURE THE JACKPOT.THIS MAKES FOR A GRIPPING WATCH.

Just a great easy to watch action adventure that doesn't try hard to take its self serious.
if you just want to sit down and forget your woes for a couple of hours you could do far worse.
Nicholas cage always plays this type of role well, he may not be the best actor in the world but makes the main charactor fun and exciting to watch if somewhat a bit cheesy

This is a personal favourite of mine. Very few movies have such good repeat value.
Its a nice addition to a collection of DVD's, looks good on the shelf.

the film is really good for all to watch. when i saw this in the cinema i knew i'd have to buy it for home. All those who like a good puzzle film i'd recommed this film.

I love this film - much more than the second one. It's great for action fans and history/conspiracy buffs alike. A modern day Indiana Jones following clues left but american forfathers to the biggest treasure of all time.

I've seen this film a few times now but decided to buy it and the sequel NT2 not just because I'm a Nicolas Cage fan but because it seems to me there are hints alluding to a secret to be discovered - hidden within films themselves. My guess is loads of other people have known this for decades! I don't think I appreciate the GRAVITY of the situation either. There seem to be universal clues in life, and personal ones, so like Harry Potter, each person has certain things that only they will see/understand and no matter how many others you ask for hints/clues, ultimately you're on your own kid. Anyway, this is a great film - buy it, study or just watch it.. but do enjoy it and the thought that if you slow things down and watch frame by frame or tip your head to the side it's amazing what you suddenly see in films, adverts and cartoons. Have fun!

Found the film slow in parts, but when the action started, it had me gripped, would definately recommend as a great family movie. If you liked Indian Jones, Tomb Raider, your really gonna enjoy this & with Sean Bean as the villan, he makes it highly entertaining.

I got this DVD has I'm a huge fan of Nicholas Cage i have got just about all of is films so i got this one from from of ebay. Its was good value for money so i got it.

this is not your normal disney film..this film was great 2 watch and was kind of educational too..my family loved it and were on the edge of their seats till the end...there was some laughs in it too which helped the storyline.

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography.

It's just like Nic Cage to switch from a serious oscar winning role like 'Leaving Las Vegas' to this popcorn style saturday morning adventure style movie - and as always, he is brilliant in it - it's a bit like the Indiana Jones movie 'Crystal Skulls' could/should have been - action, adventure, history, a real treasure hunt - the 2nd movie is out now too - 'Book of Secrets' but this movie far outshines that one..

This is a rollicking adventure story in the same vein as Indiana Jones. Lots of impossible situations, plenty of "baddies", aliens and a happy ending. Who could wish for more? I bought this DVD for my grandchildren but thoroughly enjoyed a sneak preview!

WoW Wow wow, Brill film, keeps you entertained from start to finish, I loved it but most of all it kept the kids quite for an hour, so I my eyes it's one of the best action packed films i've seen in a very long time.

Similar to Indiana Jones, a good film throughout, never boring and easy going, watched it all the way through without falling asleep, would recommend as entertaining for all the family.

A most enjoyable adventure film.Put the film on pause so that nothing was missed.Daughter & Grandkids also found it very entertaining

walt disney have done it again with a very interesting, adventurous, exciting movie. It gets you thinking whether it could all be real or not.The actors all make it feel like it could be real, making the characters come to life and believable. If you like films like the divinci code, tomb raider then this is the film for you. The dvd itself has some hidden treasures of its own making it even more enjoyable. Sit back and enjoy all the what if's and maybe's this film offers, you never know it might get you hooked on finding your own treasure, with clues and secret maps and family history and stories. National treasure, is it myth or is it legend or a well told story !!? you decide.

I thought it was gonna be like an Indiana Jones type thing, but its more a Disney type thing for kids. So i was disapointed.
