I am not a fan of country and western music and thought I would not enjoy the music but I did. The opening and ending tracks were good. I noticed the change in Bob's voice which I do not like too much. I read an interview he did with Q magazine in which he explained that he gave up smoking for a while which made is voice change. Although the albums good I feel the sound quality lets it down I hope it will be remastered to improve the sound. Other than that It is good. Review ID: 10000000003856560 Was this review helpful? Report this review Reviews Review created: 19/07/08 by: This was Bob's first 'Up You' album... A radical departure from anything he'd ever done before... All the way to Nashville, though this time instead of a 'Blonde On Blonde' album, we got some serious country folk/rock... At just over 27 minutes in length it could never be described as indulgent. But what it has is 10 stunning songs. Including the masssive hit 'Lay Lady Lay' and the off the cuff duet with Johnny Cash 'Girl From The North Country'... And one of Dyulan's greatest ever songs ' I Threw It All Away' - A love song like no other... It's been a while since I'd really sat back and listened to this album and do you know something, considering it's almost 40 years old - it is so damn fresh.. Tracks liike 'Nashville Skyline Rag', 'Peggy Day' and 'Country Pie' zip along with a great air to them... This is also the album where Bob tries to sing in a singers voice, rather than do Bob... It works wonderfully well... The album topped the charts when first issued - though I bet there were a lot of the old school Dylan fans out there as unsure of this abrupt change in direction, as they were when 'Like A Rolling Stone' blasted out 3 years previously... I'd recommend this to anyone even just dipping their toe into the Dylan world... It's not his best album, but it is wonderful.. Review ID: 10000000008017364 Was this review helpful?
