Napoleon Dynamite (DVD 2005)

Napoleon Dynamite is a teenage oddball in every sense of the word and the film is just a lighthearted journey into his bizarre little world. Stuffed full of wonderful comic characters and funny dialogue this is a slow moving, atmospheric, cleverly comic movie - you have to find the humour for yourself, theres no canned laughter track here, no obvious 'American Pie' schlock humour. This is comedy based on the surreal central character and the dysfunctinal people all around him. There's no real plot. It's just a slice of Napoleons life. Funny stuff that deserves to be seen. Personally, apart from THE DANCE, the highlight for me is the steak throwing scene. Watch this film.

Ok, so to truly enjoy the full potential of this film, you have to be 100% slap stick! So in advance - if you find slap stick humour CHILDISH or UNAMUSING, you probably wont understand the comedy in Napolean Dynamite. Personally, i found the film completely light hearted and sweet! The jokes are hilarious and just plain strange!!! Loved it

As a graduate in film studies, i think i know what i'm talking about - this film is a work of genius!!!!!!!!! I have watched it many times and never got bored! I understand that people who think it is a serious film may think it is dumb, but the sarcastic tones, fantastic performances and laugh a minute dialogue is excellent!! If you don't like this, then you are more like Napoleon than you would ever like to think!!

Quite simply one of the worst films i have ever sat through, i think i laughed once and to be honest it was more of a little giggle, my mate nearly strangled me for making him watch this awful film, the only reason i didn't turn it off was because i thought it could only get better......however..... i was wrong. I can't understand why this is a cult classic, i enjoy all comedy films, you could NOT call this comedy!!!! absolute rubbish from stasrt to finish¬!!!!!!

The sigularly most entertaining, hillarious film I have seen, I keep quoting from it and want to spread the news, it's great and funny and quaint and touching and conmpletely mad but wonderful.

The funniest film i've seen in a long time.
However, it is a film with a very unique humour, that you will either LOVE or HATE.
Saying that, I think that anyone who doesn't find the "dance" scene stomach crampingly funny has something wrong with them!!

Your life will be forever bettered by owning this DVD. Quite simply the funniest film ive ever seen, from start to finish it's a laugh out loud fest that can be watched again an again an again and neer lose it's appeal

Classic Comedy! This movie made me laugh from beginning to end. This movie follows the exploits of lovable loser Napoleon, and his best friend Pedro. From their high school life (being picked on by bullies, getting ready for the dance, preparing for the big class president election) to their after school activities (dealing with annoying Uncle Rico and brother Kip) the two friends just want to fit in but gradually realize that real friendship is worth more than winning any high school election.

A truly funny film, I have been threatening to buy it for ages, and at £3.99 a bargain also.
A must see film for all ages. Anyone who can relate to being a teenager will love this film, a true comic classic. Excellent.

this film is just beautiful, so funny.don't do what i did and buy a cheap pirate copy it detracts from the film too much. this film is not everyones cup of tea i would even go so far as to say some people will hate it or just not get it. i suppose it is fair to say that if you are the type of person who likes to laugh AT people, oh, what does that say about me ?? oh well that was my review sorry about the spelling. enjoy.

Watched this earlier tonight, heard great reviews and friends and had said how amazingly funny it was. However for me this wasn't really the truth.

Granted the Pedro jokes were occassionally funny. And the one moment i laughed was the dance scene, saw it on youtube, and when in context with the film it was quite frankly hilarious. That scene is the reason this film got 2 stars instead of 1.

The film is tedious, boring, subtle funniness can only be so subtle. With this you barely see the 'comedy' and much of the film is simply quite hollow and not funny at all. Many people will say its a masterpiece with laughs all the way through. For me however i couldnt wait for it to end. A plot which was going nowhere, some very wooden acting, and to cap it all off the end scene after the credits summed up the entire movie, aboslutely pointless.

I Bought this film as Daughter wanted to see it re - 'skit scene'
Quirky film about a wierd nerdy looking teenager in moon boots. He doesn't let what anyone else thinks bother him. He lives with a even more bizzare/weird family (Internet surfing brother, Racer Nan and Salesman/Letchy Uncle) not to mention pet Llama.
He decides to help his new Mexican friend win the class presidency in a little Western high school - thus the famous 'Skit' Scene.
really enjoyed it.
didn't get bored, Daughter says not many girls liked it but the boys at school did - so if you're a guy or a girl who doesn't like girly films you should be Okay with this one.

You've got to love Napoleon Dynamite. He's a geek, an outsider, and socially inept. But boy, can he dance! This movie is kind of strange, and the first time I watched it, I wasn't sure whether I actually enjoyed it. But it's one of those films you just HAVE to watch again...and again... it's quirky, definately not one of those run-of-the-mill high school movies, and that's why it's so endearing. So if you have a nerdy brother, an embarassing uncle, a tendency to keep tater tots in your pocket, or a llama that refuses to eat, you will LOVE it! Get your moon boots on and groove with Napoleon! (And vote for Pedro!!)

This movie is quite possibly the funniest movie ever. It doesn't have much of a storyline, but in this case, it doesn't matter. I keep reading reviews that say it isn't believable. Anyone who has attended High School in the last 10 years knows that this movie portrays exactly what it is like. Who doesn't know someone exactly like Napoleon? Or Pedro? Or Summer? Or Deb? Or Don? There are Napoleons, Pedros, Summers, Debs, and Dons in EVERY American High School. One of the funniest parts about this movie is that it IS so accurate. And who hasn't run across an internet geek like Kip? This movie is filled with jokes about our culture today. I haven't met one person yet who has seen it and not liked it. Talk about a cult classic in the making. The film uses witty humor, and a little goofy humor. It's the PERFECT film for light comedy. If you're into those kind of films that make you think a lot, this one definitely isn't for you. On the other hand, if you laugh at things like Napoleon getting psyched for a milk-testing contest, or lying about hunting wolverines in Alaska, exaggerating about his bow staff skills or his brother bragging about chatting online with "babes" all day, you can't go wrong. (10/10)
