Great phone, at a generally good price. 3 offer good services, only the minimum you can top up is £15 and this only lasts 1 month from when bought.
Camera good 1.0Mp,better than some digital cameras! Clear speaker, loud enough, handsfree ok

I love this phone because in an age of increasing technology, there is only so much that you need in a phone. I am utterly bored about hearing the capability of phones nowadays. I bought a brand new nec e616 in October 2003 and after a number of three network phones it is the phone that I am going back to in the year 2007.
The e616 is NEC's replacement for the e606. Like the other NEC 3G phones, the e616 supports the full range of 3's video mobile services - video calling, video messaging and downloading video clips. In addition, it also supports the GPS (Global Positioning System) enhanced features such as directions, maps and traffic reports.
The e616 has 2 video cameras - one mounted on the front, the other on the back panel. The camera resolution is only 100,000 pixels which is poor for a camera phone, although I think it takes a clearer picture than my more recent LG phone. The camera does have a built-in light for taking pictures or videos in low light.
The battery life of the e616 is poor, although it does come complete with two batteries so one can be charging whilst using the other in your phone. Which is a feature that I admit to liking.
It is rather huge and brick like in its shape but to me that is a plus. I like its bulkiness, it is unloseable in my rather large handbag and is also bashable for when the baby gets hold of it!
The main reason that I use this phone is for text messages. The punctuation is set out in an easy to use format, displaying all punctuation so you can decide what you want to use, instead of just press and guess!

One of the first phones that the NEC made,
Very reliable model, Sturdy design unlike some of the slim,flimsy phones you get these days!
Many features....camera,internet access,bluetooth capabilitys,infa-red,large memory for your phonebook,messages etc
If you need a good reliable phone with lots of features at a good,budget price then this is the phone for you!

This is one of the earlier models which features 3G technology. It is a bit bigger than some 3G phones which are around at the moment but it is still a good competitor. I love the large screen and easy to used menus. Also it has lots of good ringtones, the James Bond Theme being the best. The ringtones are accompanied by screen animation. My favourite is the 70's style Dancing Dude who appears on the screen when the phone rings. The phone has an excellent camera and video camera.There is also a good camera light fitted. Video call quality is amongst the best around. MP3, Bluetooth and GPS technology are also standard. I think this is a great phone which is packed with features and is still one of my favourites, despite the size.

The phones have been progressing rather quick for past few years,competition between producers to add a few more megapixels and internal RAM creates wonderful phones with a reasonable price. 3 mobiles though still can be quite competitive,even old ones like NEC 616 model. It might have a weaker camera sensor, but somehow it manages to make good pictures;) The design is still beatiful, keeping in mind that the size of this model is more masculine. Overall, I am very happy that I can get a bargain on used 3 phones!!!

I loved the fact that descriptive wise the phone matched up to it. I needed a new phone as i had a double accident with the one i already had. I wanted to try a different make and model so ebay was the place. Luckily i managed to get a bargain which does help when you are not sure if you will actually like the phone or be able to get on with it.I actually ended up giving the phone to my daughter as it did not work with the sim card i have,my own fault for not asking in the first place. It is best to ask as many questions as posible if you are in doubt as it isn't always posible to list every minute detail.
I was completely pleased with my purchase and have made numerous ones since and remembered to ask questions.

Nice to go back to a one off original from NEC. Great 3G phone that still lasts the test of time. Great signal, navigation and sound quality. Surpasses many new phones I have tried and tested.

lets just say, I needed a phone which is on 3, has camera and bluetooth and the NEC E616 provides all that. It might not be light weight but the double batteries which come with it is very handy since most of my calls are transfered to my mobile phone and you do not get that with most phones.
Give it a try as a main phone or a back-up, it's worth it. And best of all, I have not had any problems with it since I got it and this was second hand.

This feature packed phone has two cameras one for pictures the other for video messaging a multimedia player which can play wma/mp3 audio and .3gp video files
Polyphonic ringtones. Large phone book memory and can store hundreds of text messages the only fault is the 19mb internal memory so you can get up to 16 songs on it. Is expandle with memory card.

Nice phone, good as a back-up, I really like the fact that it has 2 cameras so that video-calling can be used. Fun colour screen aswell, good ringtones etc..It doesn't look as nice as some of the newer phones or have some of the more modern features, but as a phone it is very good, and still with extra features such as bluetooth cameras and a colour screen. Above all this, it is extremely easy to use!!

The NEC e616 was first brought onto the market in 2004. It is now, 5 years later, still a very nice phone with lots of options. A wealth of information and cheap accessories are available on the internet.
The NEC e616 is a flip phone and comes with 2 cameras. I was lucky to get the full package including a heavy duty battery which makes the standing time of the mobile last longer.
For a personal reason ( I dropped my Nokia N73 into the sea ) I needed a sensibly priced replacement, suitable for the 3UK network. I was extremely lucky to find that people are not that much interested in the slightly older NEC phones. My NEC phone is as new, hardly used, and it does everything it says in the manual.
A good alternative to the much more expensive Nokia phones on ebay. Recommended.

i bought this fone as it was on the 3 network for which i have a contract... for some reason i have terrible luck with 3mobile.,dont get me wrong,they all have worked well,just i seem to drop them in water,stand on them,or some how do something clumsy causin them to break!! i just thought i'd get it as a spare for the next timethe Little Miss Clumsy in me appears as they can be so expensive... as a spare its fantastic, clear screen,many functions.. just a bit big compared to what i am used to! if it were abit smaller i'd use it all the time

NEC E616 Mobile PhonePicked this up at a good bargain price, unfortunately though it wasn't quite working properly. However, that said, the phone was not bad at all. Does the job and easy to work. If your looking for a basic phone with no fancy frills, this ones for you. Although it does have a camera and a couple of other extra's - its not for the "hardcore" mobile user.
