My Big Fat Greek Wedding (DVD 2003)

Excellent service, arrived promptly and have watched it already so in good working order! Had a query to the seller when I won the item and a reply was sent straight away.

I had heard radio reviews of 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding' which made it sound an amusing film, but as I never go to the cinema, living as I do in the middle of the country, there had been no opportunity to see it on the big screen. The video arriving by post was therefore an attractive option.
The film starts slowly, in rather a dead-pan way, and allows the growth of sympathy for the initially lack-lustre heroine. But the pace speeds up and the action becomes increasingly lively and hillarious, without losing touch with what might just be normal.
After many difficulties, as in all the best stories, there is a happy ending.
I laughed out loud at some of the scenes and recall the whole film with a smile. I passed on the video to my daughter , in the confidence that she and her family will relish it too and no doubt will pass it on to friends of theirs. What better recommendation could one give than that.

This is a brilliantly funny film about an ugly duckling, Toula Portokalos, desperate to break away from her life. She works in her Greek Father's restaurant as a waitress, unhappy with her lot and a disappointment to her family because at 30, she is unmarried. Then, one day, her prince charming walks in but hardly notices her. She resolves to change her life and starts a computer course, then with her father cleverly manipulated by his wife, she starts works in her aunts travel agency where her prince charming literally walks into her life again. We see as she is transformed into a beautiful swan and realises that although her family are loud and too many, she is part of them and they are part of her.

new sealed, perfect condition, no scratch marks, very decent copy of a great film. I bought the dvd to add to my collection of dvds t home, and was very glad to make this my first purchase of ebay, since I was sceptical about using ebay to purchase items previously.

It made me take another look at how bad I thought my family was for always being in my business and now I don't feel so bad because boy does she have it bad! The movie was funny and light. I really enjoyed watching it and it made me laugh right out loud. I liked it so much I bought the series too. Not as good as the movie but still very funny for those hard long days.

It's such a great movie in the sense that it will make you think about your culture, your family the way how everyone of us is different and in today's society so many (especially people in their 30's) of us going through similar family problems when we want to chose who we want to be with or if we want to study rather than settle for the traditional ways of living. It's about family, love and respect. You will find the humour of it the more you watch it... once is definitely not enough!
