Alex Fletcher (Hugh Grant) is a washed-up 80s pop star who's been reduced to working the nostalgia circuit at country fairs and amusement parks. The charismatic and talented musician gets a chance at a comeback when reigning diva Cora Corman invites him to write and record a duet with her, but there's a problem – Alex hasn't written a song in years, he's never written lyrics, and he has to come up with a hit in a matter of days.

Enter Sophie Fisher (Drew Barrymore), Alex's beguilingly quirky plant lady, whose flair for words strikes a chord with the struggling songwriter. On the rebound from a bad relationship, Sophie is reluctant to collaborate with anyone, especially commitment-phobe Alex. well fellas wanna be him, women wanna be with him, and ever since notting hill, he's become a superb actor and a superb watch, this is one of his classics, loved every second of it and to be fair drew was pretty good also, never really rated her, however shw was actually very good and she defo helped make the film as good as what it is

I sat and Watch this Movie Last night, I I thought it was Excellent, I could watch this Movie again, But to be honest I didn't the Part was right for Hugh Grant.

i like the film it wasnt a bad film i would be watching it again in the nearer future i like the bit where they was in the restaurant and she had to nick a dress off the women they were with to go and tell a bloke want she thinks of him but couldnt say anything to him.

It's a light hearted fun film with quirky characters, not the best film in the world, but still enjoyable to watch.

i like all the flim it was very good my daughter watched it in hospital but she could not watched because it froze on her so i brought one and it was a very good price.

this dvd was in perfect condtion, excacly how it was described in the bidding, and i would defenetly buy products of this ebayer again.

really good chill our film. easy on the brain but very funny. hugh grant is lovely. loved the film the first time i saw it and wanted to replace on old copy. any one who wants a laugh with an easy going plot line. songs are very catchy and get in your head! really good director and surprising actors pop up in it. really good chill out film.

suitable for males and remales, hugh grant fans will love it and there's his love interest, ms barrymon for the boys. they work really well together as a couple and the chemistry is great

good if not slighty cheesy film, hugh grant and drew barrymore actually work it well. great to have the 1980s pop music spoofed, ideal for people in their 30's who will get the references

This is one of those great light hearted films where it's not to heavy and it's easy to watch. Hilarious with great characters and good music too. Great for all ages and all the family. Loved it the first time I saw it and is definately one of my favourite films! Highly recommended.

This movie inspires me so much. The more I watch, The more I enjoy. It's one nice, happy, hilarious, cool and romantic movie. And as the name says it's about music. Hugh Grant is a talented actor. Here, he's Alex and funny to shake his bum until his hip hurts. Drew Barrymore is a very gorgeous and brilliant actress. Here, she's Sophie and just as silly as any girls can be. And Haley Bennett ... ooh ... she's just hot.

Alex who is an ex-member of band called Pop and Sophie who comes to Alex's to water his plants and turns out to be a born-lyricist, team up to write a song for the famous pop star Cora (Haley Bennett). And they have only just few days for the task. That's when they fall in love and the relationship between the Musician and the Lyricist grows. And the story is about it.

What touched me most in the movie is - While staying awake all night, both working hard writing song, Alex says, "It doesn't have to be perfect. Just spit it out. They're just lyrics. Lyrics are important. They're just not as important as melody." And Sophie comments on that saying, "A melody is like seeing someone for the first time, the physical attraction, sex. Then as you get to know the person, That's the lyrics. They're story who they are underneath. It's the combination of the two that makes it magic."

I've always been arguing on this thing that I'm always attracted first by music rather than lyrics. If the music is good and I like it, then I go for the words to check what is really in there. Music is Scent ... Lyrics is Essence ... I'm a Bee. For me, music or melody always comes first. But that doesn't mean anything on lyrics will do. Hell big NO to that. Of course, the lyrics have to be as sweet, deep and meaningful as the music to make a good song. This movie answered all that.

This film is not as good as some of Hugh Grant's previous work - he almost looks bored throughout! However, if you enjoy a good "easy-to-watch" film - this is the one for you. It's plot is pretty formulaic, but Drew Barrymore puts in a good performance and it's enjoyable. Give it a go!

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography. I would recommend the director's cut that includes scenes about the relationship between the lead character and his estranged wife and helps you to understand the motivation behind his decision. The run time is 183 minutes for the directors cut and 120 minutes

A true chick flick... funny to watch although i'm not sure the boys would agree. It made me laugh :)

I love this film, it has Hugh Grant quirkiness comedy and it has very catchy songs, it has heart melting romance. Love it, seen it twice and im still willing to but a copy. Really funny.

I love the chick flicks! Especially with Hugh Grant! Drew Barrymore great too. Remember seeing the clip for this film when it was on at the cinema. Unfortunately I never got to see it on the big screen! Was delighted when I found it on ebay at such a great price! Perfect for those girlie nights in!!!

Not much of a story line, was Ok to sit in with a bottle of wine but wouldn't bother watching it again

Seen this film at the pictures but even funnier second time round. Excellent bargain and im sure ill watch it many more times. Definate Hugh Grnat classic...
