Deffinately one of my favourite albums by Muse this album contains a wide range of tracks for different music genres, while at the same time keeping its individual sound, a very good album to own, so go and buy it.

More greatness from Matt and the lads

I'm not so keen on the armageddon theme of the album, but some of the tracks on it are just so beautiful, or so catchy, or so powerful, it's hard not to sing along or move some part of your anatomy. The singles aren't all that great, but track 5 then 6, Stockholm and Falling away, is a brilliant jump from fast and powerful, to possibly the most beautiful music written. Shame Blach Holes was such a letdown.

Probably the most pompous, overblown, operatic rock album of 2003. It charts an impossibly wide range of emotions - the screaming piano track "Apocalypse Please" is followed by the delightfully slinky "Time Is Running Out", with it's effects-laden bass and thundering guitar riffs. Then there's one of the finest guitar tracks ever, "Stockholm Syndrome" then my favourite song, "Hysteria". Juggernaut bass riffs and guitar solos make this a joyously sexy song. Then there's the simply gorgeous "Blackout" - I once heard this described as "the song people will be waltzing to in Covent Garden in 50 years" and I suspect it will. Butterflies and Hurricanes must surely be Muse's finest track to date. Quoting the superb Sergei Rachmaninov, and yet keeping their rock identity is a feat Muse pull off with great aplomb. The last four tracks on the album are, in my opinion, not quite up to par on the rest of the album, but the first ten tracks more than make up for it. I can't recommend this album enough to anyone who likes music - you can't help but admire the musicianship that is obviously present in Absolution.

  Absolution!

Having heard a few of the tracks on a net radio show (Apocalypse please, and Stockholm syndrome) I decided to get this cd. I was most definitely not dissappointed!

The tracks range from chugging rock to more Radiohead-esque tunes. If you have a fondness for Radiohead or Manic street preachers Muse: Absolution is definitely worth a look.

Suddenly stumbled across 'time is running out',wow what a song, just had to get my hands on this album, naturally ebay was the first place to stop,so I landed myself a real bargain of a fantastic album purely because it was a bit 'dated'.Now all of a sudden I am a muse fan,and where else to get all their albums in one swoop, yep, you guessed it,EBAY!! I certainly was not disapointed with this album, each track is so diverse but still has that big band, heavy all rock feel about it,with fantastic lyrics, not bad to say muse is only made up of three guys, amazing.

  The band can play
Review created: 06/10/06

I thought that modern bands had forgotten how to be different, and couldn't play their instruments. This album has completely changed my opinion - these guys know how to play and write songs. The must inaccessilble side to the band is the vocals, which is a shame because after multiple listenings his voice is really cool - can't quite place the accent... The best advice I can give is buy this album!

  MUSE ABSOLUTION CD (2003)
Review created: 04/09/06

I first heard of Muse when they had their single Newborn in the charts. In fact this is still my favourite song of theirs. Then I heard more of their songs and realised that I like a lot of their music...being a female in her (young)forties I guess this is quite unusual as I know a lot of the younger generation like Muse...I love the way their songs build up into a fantastic blast of energy.....as I like a lot of the songs on this cd I thought I might as well buy it and I havent been dissapointed. Ive just bought their latest cd Black holes and revelations which is in the post and Im hoping this will be as good as absolution if not better. If you like Muse then you should buy the absolution cd!!!

  Muse:Absolution - Really very excellent
Review created: 18/08/09

This album is one of the bands best - only outshone by Black Holes and Origin of Symmetry.
Time Is Running Out, Hysteria and Thoughts of a Dying Atheist are the best songs on the album - the other songs on the album are also very good.
A good collection of songs - to be heard by all.

  Sophisticated and musical
Review created: 02/04/09

Better than the usual vaudeville pop, several of the tracks are instantly recognisable with Ruled By Secrecy being best (John and Sinead's 2009 free dance). This is an attempt at real music rather than the modern melodic wasteland of mainstream pop.

  Must-Have Muse!
Review created: 14/04/08
by:

Wow. This enthralling album takes you through the deep, dark, depths of Muse, from the quasi Rachmaninov piano solos to heavy rock. Hysteria - excellent track with a really 'phat' bass line. Time Is Running Out - Cool, collected, and slightly disturbing. Thoughts Of A Dying Atheist - fast moving, fighting it's way through the beauty and serenity of Blackout.

If you love Muse, you'll love this album. If you don't love Muse, you'll love this album anyway - it's a must-have for any alternative rock fan.
