This film is perfect for when you don't know what to watch. It's not a classic and will never win awards for the acting performance but that's not the point. The Mummy is about family friendly comedy, love and friendships, and the undead. Definately one of my favourite DVDs and one that is inherantly watchable again and again.

This movie was one of the first dvd's I ever bought. I saw The Mummy at the cinema and enjoyed it so much bought it on dvd. I have watched it about 5 times over the years as it is such a watchable movie. The special features on this dvd are simply amazing. Making of the film, Deleted scenes, Visual and Special effects featurette, Theatrical Trailer, Feature Commentary, Interactive Dvd Rom, Egyptology 101 (exciting facts about Ancient Egypt),Production Notes and many more .Just the extras will keep you amused for hours.

The film lasts for 120 minutes and is action packed from start to end. Quality is perfect with Dual Layer and 5.1 surround sound. I have the full uncut version. I like this film so much as it has wonderful special effects but not over the top like in The Mummy 2. Mummy 2 is still good but I think they went too far with the special effects as some parts of that film looked more like a pc game.


Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are perfect as the explorers searching for a lost city. On their adventure they accidentally awaken a 3000 year old Mummy who then proceeds to try and take over the world. This film has horror with a touch of humor and of course loads of action and romance. The music in the film is really good and I find the entire film very exotic. I kind of root for The Mummy to win as Arnold Vosloo is gorgeous in this film. The film has it's share of surprises and jumps too.Think I will watch it again tomorrow night.

Enjoyed the humour around the story, very similar to the Indian Jones theme and plan to buy the complete collection.

This movie is brilliant, one of my favourite of all time, i would recommend it to anyone really, its captivating with its magic, mummies, characters and actors, with the different view of the pyramids and ancient tombs its a real eye catcher, as well as having quite a few funny moments with the character Benny. If you liked this then i would also highly recommend the second in the trilogy, unfortunately i cannot comment on the third as i have no gotten around to seeing it, i hope this review will help buyers.

Fabulous family entertainment, funny, serious, dramatic, this film has it all. Seen it several times, never tire of watching it.

there isnt many of these around at the moment
what spoils dvds know is all the trailors you have on discs
we see enough trailors on tv
i suppose we live in that age of high quality entertainment too much can harm
specially if your in competition with americans

Having converted most of my old video collection to DVD I was thrilled to find this film gem in digital format. If you watch this in widescreen format, it really does the battle scene great justice; coupled with surround sound, you'll be gripped by the amazing cinematography.

Very good film. It aint the type of film that you wanna put in a draw and forget about for ages. You will probably wanna watch it again....and again...and erm...maybe as background when you are gettin on with jobs...ordering pizza and such likes :)

Fast action adventure with almost James Bond-like stunts with some very subtle moments too. A very interesting storyline even if most of it was fictional.

Great film. Would reccomend to all. Adventurous and funny too in places.Cant wait too get The Mummy 2 and see The Mummy 3. My kids enjoy the film too as it is a good family film as well as adult film.

n ancient Egypt, one priest had the nerve to fall in love with Pharaoh's mistress. As a penalty, he was cursed to become one of the undead and suffer for all time. Unless someone released him from his prison.

Flash forward to the 1920's. A group of treasure hunters and a group of archeologists set out to find the ancient city of Hamunaptra. When they accidentally awaken the ancient evil, they find themselves in a race against time to save their own skin and the world in general. Is there a way to stop someone you can't kill?

This movie starts out rather slow. The first hour is set up getting the characters to the city. Once the Mummy awakens, however, it becomes a fast paced thrill ride you can't stop watching. The actors do a great job of keeping things believable, even if the plot has a few holes in it.

The DVD truly has some great stuff on it. Not only do you get great picture and sound with wide screen and full surround, but you get some fun features, too. The director's audio commentary is fascinating, discussing the struggles that it took to get the movie to the screen. Along those lines, the documentary is fantastic as well. I always love seeing what goes into making movie magic. Also worth checking out is the section on ancient Egypt.

This movie is slightly horror, but mainly action/adventure. It's a Saturday matinee, popcorn flick with great special effects. Pop it in and enjoy.

The Mummy is a fun film, a bit silly in places but great to watch on a Saturday night with a take away and a few drinks. It'll never be a "classic" but definately worth a watch.

The transition onto HD DVD format has been a good one for this film, although not a mind-blowing experience, owing to the date of the original film. They did their best to give you the HD experience with the tools available to them.
It's says the movie is 'Uncut', but don't expect any more footage that the original DVD, as its the same.
If you enjoyed the film first time round, you certainly will love it in high definition. As you can see a lot more detailing and the colour is very vibrant...making the characters and ornaments on shelves want to jump out of your television and into your own living room.

This film is one of my favourites, its very easy to watch and is a lot of fun. There is romance, humour and action. Basically a Mummy comes back from the dead and the good guys have to kill him before he takes over and destroys the world. This film is worth watching for John Hannah's one liners alone.

THE MUMMY SERIES ARE THE BEST THING SINCE INDIANA JONES..GREAT.THE MUMMY, THE MUMMY RETURNS AND THE SCORPION KING ARE ADVENTURES THAT CAN BE WATCHED OVER AGAIN..

Great film for all lovers of egypt. Brilliant performances and great special affects. Well worth watching!

decided to by this dvd as i had never seen it, and love everything egyptian, good film, and one i could watch again.

good action film.fast paced keeps you entertained right to the end of the film. good hero villain concept and rachel weiss is hot. excellent special effects
