Motorola MOTORIZR Z8 Cell Phone

This phone is seriously cool and stylish. the Z8 is an upgrade from the V3x which I really liked.
I have to say I love it. not bothered about the camera etc, which is very good, but the phone, organiser, keyboard, applications ... just about everything, I've found to be very good.
Perfect for me. i have been able to put in and retain all my own settings, though it takes a lot of playing about to figure out how! but once you do its a great Phone !!!!

I had a Sony Ericsson phone previously and struggled to hold a mobile signal at home. This phone allows you to increase network search settings and now reception brilliant. I like the shape and found using the phone's facilities easy. Battery life reasonable. Camera fair it is always necessary to clean the lens before taking a photo as you hold the phone over the lens and it gets greasy. The bluetooth does not fully integrate with the Parrot Bluetooth system in my car. Other than that no complaints. Nice phone

THIS PHONE IS BRILLIANT ITS SOUND IS CRYSTAL CLEAR AND AS FOR THE PICTURE ITS EVEN CLEAR THAN MY TV. THE BLUETOOTH HEADPHONES ARE BRILLIANT ALSO WEATHER YOUR WATCHING A FILM OR LISTENING TO YOUR MUSIC WHICH YOU CAN NAVIGATE WITH WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING THE PHONE WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE

Bought this recently off ebay, have to say one of the best phones I've used,
takes better photos than my digital camera, video playback excellent, screen quality second to none, keypad was a bit small specially with my massive thumbs! but used to it now, going back to other motorolas K1 v3 etc.. the software seems primitive in comparison to the Z8, don't think I could go back,
all around excellent phone highly recommended.

The phones capabilities are amazing and the film quality is tft dvd standard. The only downside is the phone is quite big but very sturdy

This is my first Moto after many many years on Nokia. I needed a phone with 3g that can be charged through USB cable and this one was just right.

The phone has a beautiful display and you get around all the menus very quickly. The web browser is also very user friendly.

One thing to note is that it does not come with PC software. You will have to buy it from Motorola. I might have thought twice about buying this phone if I knew that.

On balance, it is a good phone all round.

bought second hand motorola z8,great looking phone and had mixed feedback on features ability and performance.phone arrived and was bigger and heavier than expected but neitherless it looks cool with black and green piping.
overall good looking but have to read manual to get full functionality from it,even with simple steps for textin.but having said couple of weeks with it and youll know basics.plenty on phone to keep occupied with movies ect.
bluetooth headphones great for music feature and if you get one with working memory card or slot the mp3 feature would be amazing.
great cool looking phone will defenately shout about it but if buying second hand ensure the workings are 100% if not then i wouldnt pay more than £150.00 for brand new.

I previously owned a Motorizr Z3 this phone was brilliant but slightly to small for my ailing eyesight. I am a Moto fan and decided on the Z8 (normally reknowned for the Bourne Identity alignment) However I was enticed mainly by the larger screen (for my eyesight),the 'Bend' in the phone when opened for talking, and the larger memory card capacity. I was more interested in the phone for these type of things than the Bourne connection, and I prefer my electronic items to be current and functional rather than pretty or fashionable, therefore getting a good second hand deal with the Z8 suited me.
I was lucky enough to get a very good Ebay deal on a new/used ex-contract MotoZ8 on O2, (which will take any sim card) and no 'Bourne' alignment. It arrived in great condition and I immediately sold my Z3. However, the Z8 is a little tricky to operate, and actually seems to be less user freindly than the Z3, particularly in the Contacts and Messaging areas. All texts for instance have to be deleted individually. I am also currently having a problem with Picture Messaging (PM) and WAP. Although I have now got my Sim providers settings (which both worked well on the Z3), I can only get PM on the Z8 profile and not the WAP, and this had to be manually set up. Moto are looking into this for me currently. If they find a solution, I will keep the phone, if not I will go back to squinting at a Z3, although hopefully I am sure they will. Another thing is the handbook and/or websites don't show the full operating menus, I had to go to the Helpdesk to get a pdf. file just to know how to manually update the PM/WAP settings. I am sure the phone is brilliant in every other aspect, but its becoming a love/hate relationship really. The Video/ Camcorder and Camera are perfect and easy to use with great clarity and resolution. The syncing with your PC is direct via USB and far superior to the old Phone Tools method shihc is a huge bonus.
In summary I like to have an easy, simple realtionship with a reasonably smart, and intelligent phone. I am only 95% of the way there at the moment. If it works? magic. If it doesnt? I will miss the Z3

Will good phone mostley like the slide function cause its more of a smooth operatar.

has got very goood light illumination in the dark for those hard to see in the night.

battery life is good aswell last on average of 3hrs if consitanat use .

all in one a good phone for use as style and buisness

I purchased this phone for my wife, she has allways liked Motorola and was amazed at the way the phone slightly bends to be more inline with your ear and mouth.
The phone has a very easy menu system, and the screen quality is perfect, the video function is excellent, and the media player has all the usual functions. all in all an excellent slide phone, it took the battery 4-5 charges before it got to holding it's charge for more than 30+ hours. My personal rate for this phone would be 8/10.

N95 and the Iphone are twice the price..he only problem with this phone is the battery lasts 2 to 3 days in normal use....but great phone

I ALWAYS WANTED THE Z8 WHEN I FIRST SAW IT ADVERTISED,ITS LOOKS,THE WAY IT BENDS WHEN SLID OPEN AND THE FACT U CAN USE IT UPTO MINUS 10 DEGREES.I COULDNT AFFORD THE £260 BESIDES THEY DIDN'T DO IT ON PAY AS U GO FOR T-MOBILE,SO I FOUND AN UNLOCKED ONE ON EBAY WITH £100 WORTH OF ACCESSORIES FOR £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

i only have 1gb on my phone and i've been able to fit plenty of music on it. and i havent deleted a message from my inbox since february!
i'm a total geek for motorolas, i love them!

I first saw this phone in a shop window and instantly wanted it, primarily because of the look ( the bend in the middle is too cool). I had used motorolas before and never gto on with the menu setup on them but decided to go against that when purchasing this phone. I have to say the menu system is still pretty confusing, if your used to sony ericsson or nokia menus its like trying to learn a whole new language, however after a while (and a lot of reading the manual) it begins to make some sense.
There is however one major flaw with this phone but it only really effects text freaks (myself included). Texting on the Z8 key pad is incredibly awkward unless you have fingers no bigger then pinheads, due to the sliding mechanism the top row of numbers is very difficult to text with quickly, the number rows are also quite close together meaning mistake are very easy to make. This leads onto another problem, not as bad as texting itself, but still irritating. The cancel button is right next to the end call button, not uncommon, but due to the fact they don't require much pressure to use i found myself close to the end of a text, making a mistake, going to correct it and getting sent back to the home screen. This is primarily because of my stubby thumbs rather than anything else but it's still irritating.
Overall i'm pleased with the phone, it just take a while if your used to practical menus and have large thumbs. (Note; not so good if your very impatient or easily frustrated, may end up becoming part of the wall if you know what i mean.)

Having had sony ericsson for ever , l decide to try a motorola smart phone , and the Z8 is prefect , it has the style and build quality of motorola ,and the sony ericsson operating softwre , best of both worlds.

Will upgraded to the Z10 within 12 months

This is a great item,the phone was as it was describe and i got a really good bargin,i bought the phone for my son but after i received it, i decided to buy one for my self, which i did again from ebay, it dose every thing that i needed it to and a lot more besides,it is an ideal phone for both adults and kids a good alround phone that would suit every body,easy to use and easy to navigate around the differant function,and every thing was straight forward and well explained,it is the best phone that i have ever had, and i hope that they will continue to make all mobile phones this way,

always been with motorola phones so ive been able to quickly adapt

the hand set fits nicely in your hand or pocket. The phone comes to life when you slide open the phone with it's unique bend to the shape of yor face. It is easy to operate and good clear graphics, what des let the phone down is the battery life, I would recommend a longer life battery. The music is of a better quaility than that of the sony w range, you do not get the bass limit and obtain a more crisp sound. This phone is the closet I have used for the IPOD quaility. The phone is also complimented by the S9 bluetooth headset. So far I have not found too many faults and say yes there are more advanced phones out there but this can provide all the requirements a non bussiness user could want and more and in many cases carry these functions out better.

Its slow and not an upgrade as I expected, so founf the product disapointing. Would not buy another or reccomend it. The V9 is a better bet

I bought this for my partner, it is a great phone. Easy to use with a good clear screen. I wish I had kept it for myself.

nice looking phone although at first its kind of awkward to slide open (as it bends at them same time) but once you get used to it, its fine. i found it always has good reception. on the downside i find my phone 'freezes' quite often. also i find that sometimes my phone has set itself to silent. on the whole its a nice phone. but does have some faults also sometimes it seems to take ages to load things or view things or to go from one thing to the other (video to the next etc) i have my phone on contract but would have been disappointed if i would have had to pay the sim free price of £569 that o2 was asking for.
